Umm, I think Mika had the much much beter car in '98 and '99. Michael has the ability to evolve a car over the jears to make it faster. Only the FIA was able to stop his dominaz in 2005 and 2006.
With his "superior cars" in 2001-2004 he drove Mika and the entire McLaren Mercedes Team in the ground and mixed up with them ^^
yea he really destroyed Mika in 2001, thats why Mika was leading this race by so much before his car failed...

Sure! But, where's the problem? After '98 and '99 he showed Mika, who is the REAL number one. Something like that can happen, sometimes. Also, Mika Hakkinen had embarrasing moments in his career: Imola-Crash '98, Monza '99 - when he cried under the trees around, ONLY OF BEEING RETIRED! OMFG! just think about it...Mika is so soft-boiled, while Schumi had no problems to kick ass. Michael is a man, with a great character, thats the reason why is the best F1-Driver in the history xD
err, in 98 and 99 Mclaren was better, 2000 was the fairest matchup as they were at about the same level, and schumi won that year... after that ferrari just got so good the FIA had to completely revamp the rules to stop them, and even then they were only uncompetitive for the one year

incase you didnt notice back then, '99 was quite a random year for F1, so is it not fitting that Irvine, a 'mediocre' F1 driver as you say - in the 2nd best car, would be challenging for the title in such a year? Heck, even Johnny Herbert managed to score a win in '99, Frentzen scored two, Ralf actually drove really well that year, Minardi beat the heavily-funded BAR and Schumacher had to be Eddie's number two for a couple of races. I am a die-hard Schumacher fan but even I didn't really celebrate after this win. It was lucky, Hakkinen deserved it, and Schu didn't need it to win the Championship in 2001.
I respected both Schumacher and Hakkinen, but a lot of times the racing comes down to the engineers of the cars. Their battles were epic and I was always watching them.
This time, Ferrari just had a car that lasted the whole way.
Mika was the only one that could give M Schumacher a race and Mika was so funny in the press conference. I miss Mika in f1 and was gutted when he retired. Not often you get a real fast man with such a good sense of humour like you did with Mika.
mika was one of the best f1 drivers in history.this bal luck moment costs very much in his career.I remember when David Colulthard stop and take Mika in one of the side wings of the other McLaren.I was very angry this day because Shumacher didn't deserve to win this championship this way...

I am a die-hard Schumacher fan but even I didn't really celebrate after this win. It was lucky, Hakkinen deserved it, and Schu didn't need it to win the Championship in 2001.

I respected both Schumacher and Hakkinen, but a lot of times the racing comes down to the engineers of the cars. Their battles were epic and I was always watching them.
This time, Ferrari just had a car that lasted the whole way.

He is really a great driver...
Hakkinen and Schumacher's battles were just epic...
But Ferrari had the better car, the McLaren wasn't as reliable as Ferrari's even though they were the fastest Car on the grid.
Still...
Mika is a respectable, fair and excellent driver.
So is Michael Schumacher, and all those people who doubt that, you're wrong... he didn't win 7 World Championships through luck.
It's about team work and skill.

Mika was the only one that could give M Schumacher a race and Mika was so funny in the press conference. I miss Mika in f1 and was gutted when he retired. Not often you get a real fast man with such a good sense of humour like you did with Mika.
