@ShelzyBetch actually yes you get locked up but depends, someone that lived on my street attempted suicide and because he was also a threat to the public because of the way he tried to commit he has now got 6 years in jail
and i wasnt sent to a hospital either. it depends on the sistuation really. you cant punish some one for being depressed. locking them up will give them all the more reason to be depressed.
all you can do is give them time and be there for them. all my family and friends did was leave my alone and let it heal over time. im not 100% better. but im much happier. isolation was all i needed. i needed to think.

No they dont, if anything, they get sent to the nearest hospital to make sure there ok and stuff.
The hospital might give them someone to go see every now and then.
Thats it, you cant punish someone for being depressed and suicidal.
