Health Care Insurance Reform and Medical Costs

I am an American who believes in small government and individual freedoms. Despite the shortcomings in the US healthcare system, I stand opposed to HR 3200, otherwise known as America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009. Since the bill is 1018 pages long, this post could probably go on forever, but instead I’ll list a few of the biggest problems I have with this bill.

Some people don't have an Aunt Harriet that leaves their nephew everything in their will . Most of us have to work hard to make a better living.

So there are two people waiting on the liver transplant list: a) Aunt Harriet's Soon to be Wealthy Nephew; or b) Mr Jones who has 3 jobs, no time for his family, and is in poorer health. Who do you think the Insurance company will go with?

The answer is a) Aunt Harriet's loving adoring Nephew who will inherit the world

Republicans turn this healthcare debate into a money issue. Its always, the wealthy get the best health coverage, and the poor do without.

In the education system, its not like that. A poor person has just the same right to education as a wealthy student. We make provisions for this.

But with healthcare, money always defines the issue. Isn't that being a little insensitive? If blacks and whites have equality, why not the rich and poor?

People with a lot of money discriminate the poor.

Face the facts in a realistic sense. In 2012, the REpublicans don't have any real compeition to get Obama unelected.

Sara Palin is a little fuzzy headed,. John McCain is too old. The only true candidate to face Obama might be Bill O'Reilly and Running Mate Sean Hannity from FOX news, but they would still lose because they annoying blabber mouths.

The Republicans don't have a healthcare plan. If they do, will someone share that plan with me because I can't find one.

If the government offers to prevent people from being screwed over by the health insurance companies they are not undermining their liberty. The thing I don't understand is that we make a big deal that all of our children get the right education, and the Government makes this a law.

But when it comes to someone's health, we should say, 'The survival of the Fittest?'

Why should some get treatment, and others not? This is not the American way!

We gave up more freedoms than u think for safety, and nobody ever complains about those. We need Health Reform fair and equal to all.

You are right. I was talking to an Insurance broker today, and I asked her about Obama care. She said it was a terrible plan. Of course she would say that because that's her job to oppose the Obama care plan.

Insurance companies do not care about us. They have made that very clear to me. Ha, and if they want me to be healthy, they are doing a very poor job!

Do I have mental health issues? I do now thanks to the stress the insurance impose on me. Its really sad.

I believe in a Capitalist society, but when it comes to healthcare, I'm willing to give up some of my freedoms just so that everybody will be treated better by the Insurance companies.

John Dennis is considering a run in California district 8 to take on Pelosi. I think most people on the anti healthcare side of the debate will agree there needs to be some kind of reform to the system overall, but the current bill is very long and has some strange and troubling provisions. Yes I agree, we have to pay for entitlement, but its no different than paying School Tax, police tax, road repairs. We never complain about forking out money for those causes. Are those causes more important than health? Yes or No

Do you feel safe that you are protected by the police and fire dept? Yes you are.

So I think its hypocritical that our health should be deemed any different. If we have the right to life, liberty, and happiness than health is included in that.

And also remember that President Obama may be taxing us more on some of his causes, but he is also being very generous to us.

If you are struggling to make an income above the pverty line, you are entitled to working tax credits. New home owners are entitled to working tax credit. So for what he's giving us, I see nothing wrong in taxing us a little bit more for health reform. If a Republican had a better healthcare reform, I'd go with that.

But McCain was not interested.

As I recall there was some mention of a proposed health savings plan. This was Senator McCain's idea, but I regret that he decided not to make this a big issue. The Republicans could have made Health Reform a blessing, but at the last minute backed away.

Now this Obama plan will not take place until 4 years so I'm afraid we are still stuck with the old system. So I will take up Sen McCain's idea and try to make a health savings plan, and put it to the test. We must try.

Anyhow, there are some penalties for people who make enough money to be insured, and are NOT INSURED. If you are insured... Dont worry, you will not be penalized. If you DO NOT make enough money to pay for health insurance, you WILL NOT be penalized either.

But there is this gap of people inbetween that are not covered and make just barely enough.
