St. Catherine's Monastery (also spelled St. Katherine's) is the celebrated site of the burning bush where God spoke to Moses. Located at the foot of Mount Sinai in the Sinai Desert of Egypt, St. Catherine's Monastery is more than the burning bush. Built in the 4th century, it is one of the world's oldest monasteries and houses the second largest (after the Vatican) collection of codices and manuscripts, most of which are written in Greek, Coptic, Arabic, Armenian, Hebrew, or Syriac.
@vachief The Bible does not say Mt. Sinai is in Saudi Arabia. The Bible says Mt. Sinai was located in the Arabia of Paul's day, but the boundaries of Arabia at that time did not correspond to the boundaries of modern Saudi Arabia.
@SupernautG ..Read...... Gal.4:25, ....All the ancient maps call the area around Jabel el Laws.... Arabia, all the artifacts are found there. It's location is near Elim and the 12 wells. There are no arifacts on the Sinia penninusla and there is no room for hundreds of thousands of people to live for 40 years. Chariot parts, horse bones, human bones have been found in the western arm of the Red Sea on a shallow berm where Moses crossed. It is a remarkable find. Constantine was wrong.
@vachief What ancient maps are you talking about? The oldest maps we have are from the Middle Ages. That there is no evidence of the happenings of the Bible is not a new thing. No evidence for Noah's ark either. Most Biblical scholars tend to be secular and they don't buy your theory about an alternate Sinai location.
@SupernautG...All the maps I've looked at call the area at Jabel el Lawz... Arabia. The Bible says Arabia in the land of Midian. There is to much evidence at this site to dismiss it as a coincedence, on the other hand there is no evidence at the traditional site. Several teams have looked at the area in Saudi and all the pieces of the puzzle are there. If you don't want to believe the Bible is true, that's your call, the evidence speaks for itself.
@vachief I doubt you looked at correct period maps. Also, I am arguing from a scholarly non religious basis and the scholarly non religiously bias consensus is that this alternative theory is not acceptable. In fact the people who push the theory that Moses/Mt. Sinai was in Arabia tend to be those that look for evidence of Noah's Ark. In other words, since the Bible is not supported by scientific facts they seek alternative explanations/locations to show that the Bible is factual.
@SupernautG ...Well I'll tell you what...Those artifacts didn't get there all by themselves and there is no other reason for them to be there. Another interesting little factoid is that all ..not some but all the archelogical artifacts pulled out of the ground support the biblical record, it is a very interesting time in world history, in which we live. :)
@vachief What artifacts? Point to the peer reviewed findings like a professional scholar would do. The fact you think the Bible has never been proven wrong based on the archeological record points to you not being a scholar but a religious kook.
@vachief I don't need to do anything other than read what established scholars who do field work and the theory of modern Arabia as the Biblical Sinai is not accepted except by the types that claim Noah's flood really happened and they set out looking for the boat in mountains.
@SupernautG ..The problem is that these so-called "established scholars" are not interested in biblical research mostly because they don't believe the story is true. Earlier you said "what artifacts?" All the artifacts the Bible mentions are located at Jabel el Laws, even the Bedouins that live in the area know that. This isn't rocket science. A kook is someone that ignores the obvious.
@ThePhara3on ..That's funny....the Holy Bible says it's in Arabia and all the arifacts found at Jabel el Lawz authenticate that conclusion. Constantine and his mother...were wrong. It's just that simple.
@vachief You mean there is a Roman Catholic conspiracy to invent maps dating from the time of the Roman empire? Now I know you are a fake or a kook. Arabia in Roman maps included Sinai and Jordan. Google the Roman province of "Arabia Petraea" which includes Sinai, Jordan and a portion of modern Saudi Arabia.
@SupernautG ...I've also looked at a lot of maps. The maps I looked at place "Midian" in Arabia. The 12 wells are on the eastern side of the northern portion of the Red Sea not the western side. This matches the biblical account. Did you think Rome is going to give up easily? Spend a few months on this issue, you may end up changing your mind. Rome says that Peter started the church in Rome....he never went to Italy let alone Rome. Read a KJV.
@vachief You are a conspiracy kook who thinks that the Catholic Church (who I am not a member of and it does not control the Orthodox Christian monasteries at Sinai) invented a new history hiding the origins of the real Mt Sinai and you claim this conspiracy without any proof. You just bore false witness. At the of Jesus and the Apostles, the Roman province of "Arabia Petraea" included Sinai, Modern Jordan and a part of modern day Saudi Arabia.
@vachief Where's your proof that the Catholics faked maps from 2,000 years ago to the point all scholars of all religions and non religions don't know this except you of course.
@vachief the boundries of Egypt have changed lots of time over history! You actually make a statement like that and then think you can have a discussion on history? What a disgrace you are.
@SupernautG ..You know what I think? I don't think the boudries have changed much at all. I think Rome fiddled with some maps to make it appear that in the olden days the traditional site was in Arabia, then it would line up with what the Bible said. Even if I'm wrong about that, Jabel el Lawz is the real site anyway as all the artifacts are there as are the 12 wells of Elim. Egyptian chariot parts are found in the water were the isrealites crossed.
@vachief I won't read the inferior and badly translated KJV bible. I can read the New Testament in the original Greek. By the way, this part of the world is not under the Latins but is the domain of the Greek Orthodox Christians who is the vast majority of Christians in that region after the Coptic Orthodox. That to suggest Rome is making this up to benefit her Greek arch rival church is nonsense.
@SupernautG Sinai was never considered part of Arabia, Sinai, was always known to be part of Egypt.. There's Saudi Arabia, and that has nothing to do with us... All we are...we're just Arab speakers, But we're still Egyptians..
@ThePhara3on You are not understanding my point. This crazy guy has a theory that Sinai is in Arabia because of a comment of an apostle in the New Testament. He makes the mistake of assuming the modern Saudi Arabia was the Arabia in the time of Christ but in the time of the Roman empire, for administrative reasons Sinai was part of the Roman province of "Arabia Petraea" and that was the "Arabia" mentioned. All scholars know this except for crazy mostly, American fringe Protestants.
@SupernautG ...The Reformers knew the truth about the outrageous claims of Rome who share the same nutty unscriptural teachings of modern Orthodoxy. Both groups manufacture, worship and pray to graven images....in direct violation and clear instruction found in the 10 Commandments. "Substituteing for God....the commandments of men." It's sad is what it is.
@vachief Which reformers ever mentioned the Roman church faked the location of the Roman empire's Arabic province which included Sinai and Jordan? Let me know, kook.
@vachief So the Protestant reformers you were praising missed this? I wonder what else they missed? I guess they were not doing the work of the Holy Spirit for them to miss out on knowledge like that.
@vachief The burning bush is an object described by the Book of Exodus (3:1-21) as being located on Mount Horeb; according to the narrative, the bush was on fire, but was not consumed by the flames, hence the name.[1] In the narrative, the burning bush is the location at which Moses was appointed by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into Canaan.
@ThePhara3on .. Acts chapter 7 verse 29-30 talks about Moses first journey to Midian....he went back there 40 years later (verse 30) when the Lord spoke to him from the bush, verse 31. Midian is in Arabia, there is no doubt about it.
@vachief Are you kidding me? Midian at the time, There wasn't even a Saudi Arabia, I think your confused. I think you meant to say Madina, And Madina means city.
There were no cities at that time, It was All desert.
@vachief OMG, There's NOTHING anywhere about Arabia in the bible or even in any historical records. Or even on our Pharaonic Temples indicating anything about an Arabia. Seriously Man, I don't know what bible your reading, But maybe you should read the old testament.
@ThePhara3on ....Arabia is mentioned 6 times in the Old Testament and twice in the New. In the book of Galatians, Agar is compared to Mt. Sinai....."For this Agar is Mt. Sinai in Arabia......" Chapter 4, verse 25. Get yourself a KJV Concordance, it makes finding things a lot easier....they cost about $25.00 ....very helpfull.
You know, I'll get someone to explain it to you, Because your confused, and apparently you're NOT going to take the word from St. Catherine's Monastery.
i'm not into writing comments on this type of videos, but really i have to say that i'm surprised by how kids and empty minded people believe whatever they read or see on youtube...
this is the real mount sinai and this is the real burning bush, period. go and check some proper refrences before posting shit,,,
and what do you mean by "not as spritual as imagined"?!, what would you expect? that you see it still burning or flashing like a christman tree????!!!!!
@annie19645 The Bible does not say Mt. Sinai is in Saudi Arabia. The Bible says Mt. Sinai was located in the Arabia of Paul's day, but the boundaries of Arabia at that time did not correspond to the boundaries of modern Saudi Arabia.
Sorry it was so uninspiring to you! Do you disbelieve that it is the burning bush by which God spoke to Moses? Read up on burning bush at Wikipedia. This is the actual bush, but it was transplanted. The burning bush was a divine sign - a foreshadowing, or prefiguring, of the Incarnation when God was carried in the womb of the Virgin Mary yet she was not burned by the Deity.
Like many things in the OT, it's a figure of a future event. E.g. the sacrifice of Isaac (Gen 22:1-19) was a figure of God's offering of his own Son; see v8. The crossing of the Red Sea is a figure of Baptism. The Egyptians drown, the israelis cross over to the promised land. In baptism, demons are choked in the waters and baptized people enter the Church ... And the tree in Eden is a figure of the Cross - the 1st brought death thru Adam's disobedience, the 2nd, life thru Christ's obedience.
This is not the real site. Look for Ron Wyatt on You Tube and he will show you the real Mt. Sinai site. No bush I don't think, but that's irrelevant compared to the other artifacts shown in the area.
