An average bronc is worth several thousand dollars. The really good ones value in tens of thousands. Do you honestly believe that the owners want to see their horse in pain? @JMTMN1224 The flank strap does not go around the genitals. Most bucking horses are mares and geldings. But the flank area is sensitive and we have video documentation of open sores made by flank straps rubbing the delicate area.
@SHARKonlineorg, and a quick look at an anatomy book would tell us that while flank does NOT go around the genitals, it's pretty freakin' horrible for a gelding (it's tight right at the base of their sheath) and exceptionally distressing for a mare.It's too close for comfort. No-one flanks a horse, unless they want to MAKE it buck. OH, why they gape their mouths, according to rodeo-land? EFFORT.In every other horse sport requiring "effort", they do not GAPE!! Hmmmm. Strange, huh?

@barrelracingfever Yes, we pay for tickets to get in to expose the abuse. But every day we hear from more and more people who say they will no longer go or even go to a rodeo for the first time, after seeing the cruelty we document. So our tickets cost the rodeo money. And we have many barrel racers among our supporters as they cannot stand the abuse the bucking and roping stock are subjected to. They don't feel disrespected by our exposing the abuse.

I put this video on the Ariat facebook page. Here is there response: "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. While Ariat is a sponsor of the National High School Rodeo Association, we do not condone abuse of animals in any way. We will fully investigate with the NHSRA." I think this is a really good response and a quick one as I put the video on this website this morning just after I saw the video. Hope they do the right thing.

Just an FYI there were rules set in place about abusing animals at rodeos seven years before there was ever any act or organization for animal abuse. Also, those "shockers" the horses barley feel them, its no different than using a shock collar on a dog. @HHCowgirl Why do you think that the thickness of skin changes the way the horses feel pain? It's more directly related to the amount of nerves and sensitivity. Horse's skin is just as, if not more, sensitive as ours. They can feel a fly land on their body, even when covered in a layer of fur, which is something we can't always do. These days, most dog trainers won't use shock collars, because they don't work for training, they only cause pain and fear.

But every day we hear from more and more people who say they will no longer go or even go to a rodeo for the first time, after seeing the cruelty we document. So our tickets cost the rodeo money. And we have many barrel racers among our supporters as they cannot stand the abuse the bucking and roping stock are subjected to. They don't feel disrespected by our exposing the abuse.

Just an FYI there were rules set in place about abusing animals at rodeos seven years before there was ever any act or organization for animal abuse. Also, those "shockers" the horses barley feel them, its no different than using a shock collar on a dog. Horse's skin is just as, if not more, sensitive as ours. They can feel a fly land on their body, even when covered in a layer of fur, which is something we can't always do. These days, most dog trainers won't use shock collars, because they don't work for training, they only cause pain and fear.

Ignore the slaughter houses, the race tracks, and the malnourished animals being left for dead, THESE HORSES ARE GETTING SHOCKED!
I think the hilarious part is that you're crying out about America because you're an American. They are doing far worse in the Latin Americas, but because you're an American then this needs resolved NOW. How about instead, you move elsewhere, and cry about what they're doing there.

@VertigaDesignMEDIA Share it. The animals need all the voices they can get. Until state legislators get off the pot and lift the exemptions of rodeos/livestock from animal cruelty laws, rodeo animal abuse is legal in rodeo arenas.
