Now, before a Delta Queen cruise, we sleep in our unsprinklered, no watchman, no fire hose, wood framed house, drive in rush hour to the airport, fly on two different planes, a shuttle again in traffic and that night we sleep on the DQ. Where do you think she and I were statistically the safest?
The Coast Guard inspectors just recently inspected the Delta Queen and gave her "flying colors" for both her fire suppression systems and her crew's training, Oberstar is misleading congress, if not outright lying to them! The 747 issue was about the REMOVAL of safety equipment, the Delta Queen has consistantly ADDED safety equipment. The generator fire isssue shows the systems work, they're safe!

The Coast Guard has given her a clear Certificate of Inspection as often as required. The CG is only upholding the SOLAS Act (Sea being the operative word). You are safer on her than you are in your own home! Mr. Oberstar should be removed from his chairmanship! GOD SAVE THE DELTA QUEEN!!!!

If the Delta Queen were unsafe, the Coast Guard would never let her out of port, and President Carter and his family would never have been allowed to take that week-long cruise. Not only is Oberstar a liar, but he's got to be one of the most un-American congressmen I've ever seen.
