Hey man, you're good!! Who are you anyway? Are you really from Holland? I'm really from Texas. Honest to goodness. And yeah, I can tawk funny any time y'all want! Now seriously, you are GOOD. I really enjoyed you'r version of that song.
...That old son of a bitch is coming back again, This morning while I was shaving, I looked up and there he was... in the mirror winking back at me ...
Normally I get really annoyed when I find that the song I'm looking for is being sung (usually butchered) by an amateur. But that was a happy suprise! Good work.
brilliantly done..one of the best versions around...in fact i might go a lil further that this sounds the THE best version of this song...thanks a lot for sharing this...cheers
nice. good/voice. good/accurate guitar playing. lacks just a cock hair's authenticity, but, who am I? Just feel it a tad little bit more brother, I am carried away already!
I did too. When I was little my father had Tom Rush's version from his Ladies Love Outlaws album. And the lyrics always reminded me of my late Uncle Pat who was a war veteran who used to take me everywhere with him and tell me all kinds of old stories I could listen to for hours.Still miss him.Anyway,do you have a version of this available for download or on cd/I would gladly buy it.
jacquesmees that was excellent.the lyrics to this song always move me to tears thinking about my uncle Pat and my grandfather who were those old school men he's singing about.you really did the song justice.i loved it.
Jacques - I am a retired guy in Georgia working on my Martin guitar which I left in the case for 25 years. I just "discovered" Guy Clark and you. I love your version of Desperados. I play it over and over and am working hard to figure out your guitar playing which is absolutely perfect for this song - sounds both simple and elegant at the same time. Quite an inspiration to us would-be guitar players. I hope to catch a live performance by you someday. Thanks.
"We just closed our eyes and dreamed us up a kitchen..." -- that's one of Guy Clark's best lines ever! Great old song, and you really did it up well!!!! Thanks for sharing!
sorry I meant jacques silence s.??? I should be ashamed with a french mother. Yea would love to hear more ... some more Guy or Townes, or some original would be cool too or whatever I'm not a producer or anything. Cheers man.
Great job Jacque I thought you were from Montreal. Big Guy Clark fan and not that I'm any expert but I think I can say that you did a very good job on this song. Very good tempo.
Guy Clark was my uncle by marriage, I still call him uncle and last saw him at a show in Rockport TX his hometown and my hometown many years ago. This song is about my great grandmother Mimi, his grandmother's boyfriend Jack. I loved listening to his music. My best memory is he is very tall and I used to stand on his feel and dance with him. He is a remarkable man!!
Beautiful. I like your baseline runs. I learned the song from Jerry Jeff Walker's version, but I fingerpick, and was looking to add a little spice. I mixed your version and his and am pleased with the results.
Yes Jacques, this song from Guy Clark is a really good song and you sing it with so much feeling. Thank you very much. 5***** for the song, for you and for Guy Clark. Best greetings.
Great job, my friend...I know just what you mean about sitting for hours and returning with only an E and/or a pick (been there/done that)...I could feel you on this song...5*....RT
What a nice tribute to the old music store owner! My granddad used to tell me stories of his younger days. Like you, I could listen for hours. I miss him too. He would have been 120 years old this year if he'd lived! 5*s. :o)
