  • a heart warming play from Family Guy:Quagmire's make them laugh.

(Before anyone gets the panties in a bunch, I know this came first. just pointing out it was on family guy.)

  • Lol! I laughed soo hard!

  • I watched this, and wished for physical comdey like this to make a resurgence. Three cheers for a fine comedian. Donald, you are missed!

  • Love both of these dancer/singers - this is a great piece for Donald O'Connor! For a man who was barely 10 by the time Vaudeville died, he embodies both Vaudeville's style and pratt falls better than almost anyone!

  • director:nooooo again all again...

  • Physical comedy...Gotta luv it:D

  • oh geez, HE'S GOOOD

  • He maked me laugh xD

  • nothing phases him!!!

  • I feel exhausted even looking at this film.

  • Now this is comedy! He's such an entertainer

  • I absolutely love all the facial expressions Donald O'Connor can make!

  • Oh Cosmo xD -3

  • haha classic :D

  • It's so funny :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D.D

  • i like this video

  • amazing!

  • I didn't laugh.... But I sure am smiling and happy right now :)

  • this makes me think of me

  • why do i always catch myself looking these vids up when im high? but no worries! this is fucking awesome!

  • new favorite youtube clip.

  • Who else but Quagmire!!!!!!

  • LOVE IT! This is my fav song after singing in the rain in this movie :)

  • Donald O'Connor after the scene had to be hospitalized, How in the name of god had he had to go to hospital

  • @Dalek115 Donald wasn't hospitalized...as he said, he needed a few days of rest because he did it on a concrete floor and his body had to absorb the tremendous shock....when he returned to the set, everyone applauded and told him how gfereat it was....Kelly asked him if he could do it again...he said sure...the film was ruined so he had to...Donald said it was better the second time. He's the BEST!!!!

  • Absolutely MARVELOUS!!!! I LOVE these old movies and very TALENTED actors/dancers!!!!

  • I always loved this movie

  • Sickest. Video. Ever! Omg i had no idea movies were like this! This is so incredibly unbelievable!

  • @TheBMZapien welcome to the world of classic films my friend! there is plenty more where this came from!

  • Well I was talking about tonal quality, he also has a romantic sound and still he was better looking lol But don't get me wrong I love them both.

  • @irishinsight I guess we just disagree...I'll take Donald's gorgeousness...and no one sounded more romantic than Donald singing "I Wonder Why" in Call Me Madam...check out my channel picture..it's a wow.. and the clips by other fans of his romantic movies...I and others have tributes, montages, uploads of whole movies...some when he was a teen idol. On a show, 5 beautiful Hollywood actresses rated Donald the best kisser in Hollywood...I've seen them all...so true...he had incredible charisma.

  • mtu bomm mano

  • And to think he smoked at least 10 packs of cigarettes a day...

  • 37 peoples haven't laughed !

  • thumbs up for a long piece of wood

  • I think I've watched this too much. I can recite the whole thing, and probably could perform it if i had the skill of Donald.... which I'm pretty sure i could never live up too.

  • Never fails to make me laugh

    XD

  • Never fails to make me laugh!!!!!

  • Made me laugh more than the actors today. I love this movie and Gene Kelly and Donald. SO much talent. I to be born back then

  • i would love to see lee evans recreate this classic routine, i think he would do it real justice.

  • "Short people have long faces... and long people have short faces. Big people have little humor and little people have no humor at all."

    XD

  • LOVE Donald!!!!! The best and the most adorable!!!! He could do it all...Be brilliantly funny here and incredibly romantic and elegant in Call Me Madam, dancing with Vera Ellen, (no one ever looked better in tails) not to mention his other romantic numbers and movies, like Anything Goes with Mitzi Gaynor (great repartee with Bing Crosby, too) and Walking My Baby Back Home with Janet Leigh. Incredible numbers in those and many other movies.

  • I laughed. And now I'm off to get dancing lessons.

  • That made me laugh

  • True talent.

  • I still think Donald O'Connor was a better dancer than Gene Kelly and this video is for my case!

  • @LCMac3 YOU ARE SO RIGHT, BUT THERE'S AN AIR OF SOPHITICATION ABOUT GENE KELLY,BUT DONALD APPEALED TO ALL OF US PLAIN OL' FOLKS. BUT BOTH OF THEM WERE VERY ENTERTAINING.

  • @jerri1950 Hmm. I see where you're coming from but what you call the 'air of sophistication' I call arrogance. I don't deny Kelly is a fantastic dancer but I heartily believe that Donald is seriously underrated. :)

  • @jerri1950 Interrupting I know, but you're both right, Kelly's more polished technically, but O'Connor is more energetic and a better 'mover' if you know what I mean. :)

  • @LCMac3 This may be true but Gene had the whole package. He was a better singer and much prettier ;) but still a wonderful dancer.

  • @irishinsight Donald had a far superior voice. His singing in Call Me Madam with Ethel Merman is spellbinding. He made records with Bing Crosby and Doris Day...Crosby said if you have a hard song to sing, call Donald. He could be brilliantly funny here or incredibly elegant and romantic dancing with Vera-Ellen and Mitzi Gaynor...he was an unbelievable talent who could do it all. You need to see his many romantic movies...loads of us think Donald is, by far, the more adorable and sexy one...

  • @LCMac3 But he Isn't really dancing in this bit. A good side by side comparison is in the "Moses Supposes" Scene.

  • O'Connor hands down.

  • I remember being a kid and rewinding this scene over and over and cracking up every time.

  • YouTube argument!

Donald O'Connor or Jim Carey? :D

  • @KIabautermann Yes!

  • rofl= running on the floor laughing 3:10

  • but great vid!

  • 240p we meet again

  • LOONEY TUNES in REAL LIFE!! :D

  • I never knew it would be so hard to be that clumsy.

  • Ohh soooooooo LOVELY ♥♥♥

  • :)

  • oh gawd its like im watching myself after drinking rum in a living room and tiping all over the sofa.

  • All the musical numbers in this movie are so perfect gosh.

  • "Make em' Laugh! Hahaha!"

Me: Oh this can only end well

  • familynguy

  • i wish i was alive in the 50's and 60's.

  • 36 people are little and did not laugh when they got a great big custard pie in the face.

  • never gets old

  • I love the part when he adjust his face

  • Donald was so underrated he was just brilliant loved this movie since I was a kid God Bless Donald your a real legend.tk

  • Workout challenge: Just try to fall down and stand up again that many times in three minutes.

  • Considering the 1900's had things like Singin' In The Rain, Monty Python, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and so many others, I almost wanna go back in time.

  • Favorite scene from Singing in the Rain!

  • Tere's no comedy like 1900's comedy!

  • This is hilarious!! :D

  • im pretty sure when gene kelly laughed it was completely natural hahaha aahh so funny !!

  • Him and Danny Kaye just had those characters that were larger than life and brilliant!! I miss both!!

  • This made me laugh

  • He really needed to collapse after that. I often try to imitate what he does on the trampoline, and it makes me extremely tired!

  • Like this if drama class brought you here. :D

  • @ZoDancer10 Today I saw it!

  • THANK YOU DONALD FOR MAKING ME LAUGH! HAHAHA

  • just love it. 59 years l8ter and still laughs in 2011

  • Ah, the golden days of Hollywood, when the actors actually had to have tallent to get in.

  • @Driinex Some of them do have talent. Just none of them have ANYWHERE NEAR as much talent as anyone in this movie.

  • I don't like seeing other people do this number :x I always feel tired watching them, whereas Donald makes it looks so effortless and light as air!

  • Best part: Most of this was improvised!!!

  • all these years and i only just realized - be a clown, gene kelly, judy garland lol

  • 2:20-2:30 always makes me laugh :)

  • Does anyone know how he did that jumping thing off the walls. I want to learn how to do it.

  • @dungbomb1100 Get a slanted wall and then do a flip

  • he was probably the world's first bboy. (:

  • 3:14 I can do that, :-)

  • 1:32 Ouch

  • That was AWSOME!

  • 3:12 original ROFLCOPTER!

  • Always had a big crush on Cosmo.

  • @camillebtista Me too. :-D

  • Timberlake, eat your heart out!

  • Laughter is the best medicine- and quite frankly, i've had my share to at least last me a month ;)

  • this definitely makes me laugh, Donald O'Connor did his job well. :)

  • I honestly think Donald O'Connor was more talented than people think, I think he deserved more credit.

  • @ForeverOldiesO1 Donald was incredibly talented - and incredibly adorable - he won the Golden Globe for this performance - he was hugely popular in the 40's and 50's - see his incredible romantic dances and other brilliant numbers from his other terrific movies; he was also huge in T.V. - he won an Emmy as Best Male Star.

See my channel for great video uploads, montages and tributes to him - as well as many other channels of my "friends" that are devoted to Donald. He was the BEST!!!!!!

  • @ForeverOldiesO1 he was like character cosmo lots of talent but over looked

  • @practicalmagic4 Not overlooked...Donald won the Golden Globe for his role as Cosmo and was huge on T.V. ..he won an Emmy for Best Male star........he was huge as a teen idol in the 40's receiving 30,000 to 40,000 fan letters a month......he made many wonderful movies while he was under contract to Universal, but Universal wasn't MGM or Fox....he made Singin' at MGM and followed that with big budget musicals at Fox and Paramount... the problem was that as he was making these movies, the

  • @practicalmagic4 studio system was ending, as was the big musical......also, Donald was much younger than Gene Kelly and especially, Fred.....Donald was 15 when Kelly got to Hollywood at age 28.....so they had more opportunity to make more pictures during the Golden Age......if only Donald could have gotten to MGM sooner.....but, thank goodness he did what he did....and we have his brilliant routines to see.....

  • I laugh every time!!!

  • I laughed.

  • This is even more amazing because he did the entire thing in one take, the first time :D

  • That guy is a fucking machine.

  • In 3:06 the sofa was moved to the right.

  • @edogarujp Who the fuck cares?

  • How can anyone dislike this........

  • my teacher told me that he did this in one take and after he had to take 3 days off to recover because he was a heavy smoker. but the next day they found out they did not have film in so he had to redo it! hahaha

  • @sbery103 : omg! hahahahahaha i never knew that! thats awesome! :) lol...

  • @sbery103 That's a little hard to believe because you'd see that there are cuts in the scene, because the cameras change. For instance, in 1:19, the camera follows the character closer, then cut to a shot where the camera is far from the character. That's not a zoom, but a dolly or a crane. The musical number must have been done more than once, with different camera angles.

  • @geekcritic True. This time. There's no telling about the previous time though. They may have done it all in one shoot without cutting the camera at all, but the second time they did it, since it took the guy three days to recover, they added the cuts.

  • @1990Adamd Hard to believe that the whole crew was stupid to forget the film. What the OP says is an urban legend.

IMDB: "Unfortunately, an accident ruined all of the initial footage, so after a brief rest, O'Connor, ever the professional, agreed to do the difficult number all over again."

  • @geekcritic Chinese whispers. So it got a little distorted? Why are you such a stickler for the cold hard facts?

    Lighten up, guy!

  • I think he hurt himself

  • amaziiiiiiiiiing

  • glee ain't got nothin' on this

  • Holy . . . okay I can't even express in words how friggin amazing this is. I died when he feel through the wall.

  • Oh my God. I laugh every time I see this

  • @xoREVENGE1993xo

So I'm definitely not the only one.

  • I wish you could double like...

  • put this link after normal facebook site and like - /pages/Tap-Dancing-should-be-remembered/253048771403499

  • He is that dude. :P

  • @ 3:17 it kinda turns into an evil genius' song, lol. But I love Don O'Connor so much!!!

  • I would like to remind (or inform) everyone that Donald had severe arthritis and yet did this amazingly!

  • @OhakooProductions Donald did not have arthritis! See his A&E Biography. He was the BEST!! He first did a backflip off a wall in Feudin', Fussin', and Fightin' where he dances amazingly, up and down, all around a barn. He won the Golden Globe for his fabulous performance in Singin', but he has so many other brilliant performances - in movies - LOVE his romantic roles and dances - he really knew how to look at a woman - check out Call Me Madam, Anything Goes, Walking My Baby Back Home, etc.

  • @OhakooProductions Not to mention that on a T.V. show 5 beautiful Hollywood actresses said he was the best kisser in Hollywood! You knew it, just watching him in those romantic performances. He was also a total gentleman and very beloved. Mitzi Gaynor said every time she works with Donald she falls in love with him - she can't help it! She's not the only actress who's said that!! Women LOVE Donald!!!! I/We/Loads of us do!!! He has fabulous T.V. shows for which he won an Emmy - Best MaleStar

  • That guys is pure comedy rightthere, and he didn't smoke anything or flash himself at all. He deserves 1000% of the credit aka our laughing. :)

  • O'Connor was a genius!! Of course with an Irish name (Along with the other 2 Stars.. Kelly and Reynolds) No surprise at their brilliance.

  • @MultiGeraghty Donald sure was a genius - no one ever like him - as brilliant at ROMANTIC dances as he was with the comedic ones!! And, what a great singer, actor, comedian, pratfall artist, composer, musican etc.

  • 32 dead people?? didn't like this "One camera, One Take" masterpiece!!

  • Amazing plyometrics feat!

  • If my friend just started randomly doing this I would just die laughing at the awesomeness before me

  • 32 people don't laugh.... love this movie!!!

  • i hate 32 more people now....

  • Love this. They Don't make actors like this anymore. :D

  • OMG..he is a genius

  • no actor or actress these days like this guy had unless they were on crack (Charlie Sheen just went a lil too hard)

  • first parkour?

  • People keep on dissing Glee but if it wasnt for the show I would never have heard of Gene Kelly,Donald O'Conner,Fred Astaire,Barbra Streisand,Fleetwood Mac,Patti Lupone and so many other artists I never would have heard of (Im only thirteen).Glee are introducing a whole new century to these classics.Matthew Morrison definitely cound not compare to Donald O'Conner but if it wasnt for Matthew I would not have heard of him.

  • @CookieMonster2462 same here! seriously, i discovered so many great artists that i wouldn't have discovered without glee. and i think the glee versions and the originals r fantastic :)

  • @CookieMonster2462 Thank you. Great words of wisdom from a child people. Why must it take a child to point out something obvious? I'm sorry my fellow adults don't see that.

  • this is awsom and funny!!! :)

  • People had talent in those days

  • @alexandrabak understatment Kelly was and actor, dancer, singer, and choriographer.

  • @Gfawkes77 Donald was a dancer, singer, actor, comedian, pratfall artist, musician, composer, director, producer - what a guy!!!!

  • "my father said, be an actor my son, but be a comical one!" what a coincidence!

  • 2:44 to the end = the beginning of hip hop dance

  • this is the best freaking song EVER. just because of him

  • @mcbubbles987 Yes, there's no one like Donald - check out his other fantastic movies with terrific dances and romantic numbers - Donald could do it all!!!!!

  • Holy Crap! That was "flippin" fantastic!

  • now thats rolling on the floor laughing hahahaha heehee

  • i love this song, i saw this song for the first time in glee season 2 but i like this one more i think! he is so funny! haha

  • 3:22 Chuck Norris can't even do that shit

  • @Marxbros9972 But Joseph Gordon-Levitt can. :D

  • i like the part where he goes hehe and wiggles his feet at 1:56

  • This guy is rediculously talented! How fantastic is this scene. Even a show with talented musical actors like Glee couldn't do this justice!

  • HOLY AMAZINGNESS.

  • glee can go to hell for all i care...

    the originals are the best

  • Best part in movie.

  • make them laugh ~ make them smile
