battery life is to be expected for this type of device. not too shabby, but definitely need to charge everyday. there are some ways to improve it though

i have a blackberry 8830 world editiion. its almost like the tour. the tour is better with texting though because you dont have to push the keys down hard as you have to do on the world edition

the only thing that i think i am going to have a problem with is the texting. it seems to be a huge problem with the hero. unfortunately, other sprint phones are pretty much the same with texting. i have an lg sprint phone that has problems with texting as well, so im pretty used to it. Is the blackberry any better with texting?

Maybe, it depends on how well you are with texting and how big you need the keyboard to be in order to text. Palm Pre and Pixi have really really nice keyboards, so does the TP2. Moment's keyboard is trash, Hero is virtual. People say to get the handcent SMS app from the marketplace as it doesn't do the awake time BS that the regular messaging app does.

My hands were clean, but that was under a spotlight. You should see the iPhone under the same light. Hero isn't fingerprint proof, but resistant. They come off much easier.

Ironically no one has bothered to show us the Android Market Place could you give us an idea of how many apps there are out there.. My GF has a G1, she showed me T-Mobiles Market Place yesterday and I was really surprised at how many apps are out there. Do we Sprint folks get to go to the same place?

Everybody is avoiding the camera and video quality. Why can't anybody show us the quality of the camera? Why is so hard to take 2 or 3 pics and post them? Why is it so hard to take a 30 second video and post it?

They all love to show the pinch zoom and the dimmer.

Yes it does have the teflon coating, like John said, its resistant but not fingerprint proof.

Interesting. The only thing that I heard about the coating not being on the hero was it not being on the black version of the GSM hero but being on the white one.

it's oleophobic coating, not teflon. teflon was the white back cover of the Euro hero

You are one of the few my friend. I personally do not care for the design, I did like the chin thing but as I thought about it I figured it'd be worthless. Considering I don't want some shit jabbing me in my hand while I'm trying to hold it or whatever. But I like this design too, I just wish they would have kept it one color instead of sterling silver in the middle and like black on the edges. But the phone is amazing nonetheless, thank you for answering these questions John, you're awesome!!!
