When the pitty was a puppy the 2 yr old was dragging her around the house all the time of course we would be supervising her closely that is the key!!! With a single breeding trait, it is not a predictable breed. Thereby not suitable for (pardon me but...) weak "city-people-do-gooders". You need to be calm, knowledgeable and firm. A definitive leader. This is true with any dog. Opposed to the "Michael Vick":s, there's the "do-gooder-pit-bull-lover". They usually don't have much dog knowledge before - but they're outsiders projecting their situation on the misunderstood Pitbull-breed. It's like getting a child because the marriage doesn't work.
Only someone who doesn't understand canine behavior and body language will label a dog breed "unpredictable". A dog can't hide its next movements, you can read it in their body language.
I meant: within the breed the variation of character traits will be so vast, that a breeder can not state what temper the breed has. In all working breeds, you can. You are right though, that a healthy dog will be easy to read and predict - but I'm not talking indiviual level, I'm talking about the population level. When it comes to unhealthy dogs they can just like some cats turn in an instant - but this has little to do with breed.

@Hambone42069 lol not allowing the child to drag it around would aso be a good idea lol. my nephew grabbed my male cat (HUGE tomcat) by the tail and dragged him down the hallway. the cat was looking @ us like "don't laugh damnit HELP ME" lol but we did have to teach him not to do it to the cat lol

@rugball3 the breed is amazing!!! no matter what humans have put it through before it still gives it's undying love and loyalty to a good owner. i have a rescue also and she is the sweetest baby she is huge but she is such a sweetie. i would love to mate her because of her great temperment but i feel guilty doing that because there are so many pits who don't have loving homes and really need them

Pit bulls are one of t most loyal breeds there is, which is hy they fight, they hear their owners cheering and think they are pleasing them and will do anything for that, all they want is that and to be loved, it's so sad that people take advantage of their loyalty and sweet nature, I hate seeing it, LOVE pit bulls so much, I will have one one day and NO ONE will take my baby away from me

I can never understand how people can do this to their pets. I've had animals my whole life, I have two dogs right now, and a snake. I feel really bad if I don't scratch the dogs stomachs....I could never do the things these monsters have done to their dogs.

Cruelty effects all shapes and sizes... and it isn't restricted to just a few breeds. BSL is NOT set up to stop cruelty... it's a band aid that naive citizens and law makers put on a much bigger problem. IRRESPONSIBLE OWNERSHIP is the problem, and that is not a breed specific problem... it's a people problem.
I do agree with your sentiment of "If you don't show it, don't breed it."

then why dont they target labs in denver, colorado? despite of ban a on pitbulls, labs are the lead attackers in denver. Denver has the highest hospitalization rate due to dog attacks in the entire state of colorado.

Denver needs to ban hillbillys from breeding! And bad owners from owning dogs. Not the dogs or dog breeds! They dont inforce BSL laws here so I pay extra insurance for my Husky mixs while people who own pits that live next door and near by dont even have rabbie shots!

well did you know that labs are more likely to bite than a pitbull according to the tests. i dont believe in all that shit i think ANY dog would bite if its been mistreated, abused, starved, etc. there is only more pitbull related because that is the most popular dog right now and its the ppl who are fighting them who are making them aggressive. most of them dont even fight and they kill them for not fighting.

I have trained many dogs and NEVER had a pit bull probelm. The key with ANY dog is training. as for the people who abuse dogs I wish they got treated the same way so they knew frist hand how much hate hurts

With a single breeding trait, it is not a predictable breed. Thereby not suitable for (pardon me but...) weak "city-people-do-gooders". You need to be calm, knowledgeable and firm. A definitive leader. This is true with any dog. Opposed to the "Michael Vick":s, there's the "do-gooder-pit-bull-lover". They usually don't have much dog knowledge before - but they're outsiders projecting their situation on the misunderstood Pitbull-breed. It's like getting a child because the marriage doesn't work.

Only someone who doesn't understand canine behavior and body language will label a dog breed "unpredictable". A dog can't hide its next movements, you can read it in their body language.

I meant: within the breed the variation of character traits will be so vast, that a breeder can not state what temper the breed has. In all working breeds, you can. You are right though, that a healthy dog will be easy to read and predict - but I'm not talking indiviual level, I'm talking about the population level. When it comes to unhealthy dogs they can just like some cats turn in an instant - but this has little to do with breed.

Pitbulls require a strong owner. Not a dog just anyone can own! Yes BSL is dog racisim. It took me a while to understand that. I dont care about pitbulls human aggression bred out. Without a strong owner they are aggressive, just as with any breed who is strong!

I believe the correct wording is 'alpha'. Not 'strong'. Pamper or abuse too much will lead to aggressive behavior.

Yes well most people dont know that and just get a dog because they want one. And pitbulls are like one of the most popular dogs out there. Its only alpha if it is the leader. Strong I mean hard headed. I went to the dog park last week and met the most balanced pitbulls I ever met. More needs to be that way. untill they are equal in my mind.

If you play the 'alpha' role, the dogs will not only obey but respect you. Where I live, there isn't a lot of Pit Bull issues but the 'aggressive/threatening' ordinance is beyond ridiculous whereas the dog only has to growl to be titled an aggressive dog.

@bleedingsyringe the one thing that needs to be understood by anyone wanting a pit is that they r strong willed dogs. they have to know that you are the alpha and no matter what they will never have that position. if my pit does something wrong like barking @ a cat (trying to break him of that) all i have to id is point at him and he rolls onto his back totally submitting to me. i guess i have made him do it enough that he knows that i am boss and i have never whipped him lol i make him submit

It is not the dogs fault - but you never see the "gangstas" with a papillon do you? You never see them with golden retrievers. It's the inherited aggressiveness (towards other dogs mostly) that appeal to the disturbed creeps you see them mimicked by their disciples - the rap "stars". Peddling the Pitbull-"Bad Boy accessory", just like Paris Hilton and her humiliated dog.
Why complicate things and get a dog bred in the 1800s to fight - that's it. Most get into these dogs for the wrong reasons.

The dog shown on 3:06.. you wouldn't happen to be able to tell me the story behind it or a link to where you got the picture? Someone I know on a forum is fostering a dog with eerily similar scars on his back that he got when he was a puppy, before he was dumped in the shelter.
