  • They cry out for animals rights... right after they've eaten battery farmed animals, stuck on their leather shoes and used the paper from the trees that animals once called home to make their protest placards. Nothing hypocritical at all ehh.

  • @ryanloveshouse trees don't have brain stems and don't feel pain but are essential for the environment so I do use hemp paper a lot. also animals have NO rights which is why they are so exploited as the carriage horses are in NYC

  • 21 NYC horse carriage accidents that we know of in the last 10 years. is nothing compared to car accidents, why u horses r horses?the horses are work animals, the horse was first than the car, u should think on the poor mercedes engines or the taxies, when some 1 outer will thing for the machines? the machines needs rest n oily and water n petro. no1s cares about them, hell the horse get his manure n water every day, n go around on the city is exercise 4 them, keep the horses n kill the engines

  • @nosupecualponerme , machines don't feel pain and it is wrong to abuse animals. this industry is cruel in NYC. have compassion for animals.

  • @nosupecualponerme I feel sad for you. maybe you should go around w a carriage ...

  • we should just eat them.

  • @nogamez2 they do after they are done with them, the horses are dump and then eaten in europe and asia.

  • It's terrible what they do with the horses, you know horses are animals who NORMALLY live in the nature, this aren't horses anymore but "driving things", they should be ashamed that they do something like that! The people of today are so lazy to walk or go by bike to somewhere! Why would we use these animals and ruin there life...

Some people ruin the life of animals, but still I’m glad that there are a few people who are living for giving animals a better life, and care for animals.

  • @unknow1510 , thanks for having compassion for NYC carriage horses. thanks for those intelligent compassionate words.

  • These horses are amazing heroes. I got the scedule for a carrige stable once and each horse goes all day, but comes back for 30 minutes for breakfast and dinner. They do switch horses out through seasons, and they get put out to pasture for 2 months. But the rest of the time they are walking on the hard cement, and standing in stalls when they aren't working.

  • @gottoride2 These horses don't go back for breakfast nor dinner. for which stable did you get the schedule for. they don't go out for pasture fore 2 months.

  • Horses should always have the right of way.

  • I think we should ban the cars. They are the ones causing the chaos.

  • poor horses

  • they should be at central park or something.

  • Yeah great life they have! this shit mades me so fucking Mad!

  • Dude, this is what they were breaded to do.

  • In the urban city like nyc!! com-on might be what they were "Forced" to do but not breed to do. and certainly not in a that biggest city on earth.... no fields to run play streach their legs.. com-on man you cant believe what you just said.....

  • *****

  • What's wrong with it in the streets?

People have been using horse drawn carraiges in streets since the first pavement streets were made.

It was like a car back then.. You have to remember these animals were bread to do this kind of stuff. It's not like its being tortured or anything.

  • Because horses were actually treated nicely then?

Because there wern't sirens going off around them, people beeping at them, cars racing past them..

  • It's "bred" and it's definately cruel.

  • They have horses in NY!? WOW, I've never been there before.

I'll have to make a special trip for that, for sure.

I wish Toronto had them, only the cops get to ride them here; too bad.

That looks like a lot of fun, good place to take my wife, she'd love it more than I would, I'm sure.

  • You are insane !!

Those animals do NOT belong in that heavy traffic, it is animal abuse !

  • Funny. :)

  • I dont believe horses should be used like that in the cities. They should be in the country. How would humans feel if we put a carriage on there back and made them go in and out of traffic.Dont be so lazy and walk and take the horses to a small town or farm where they can be happy !!!!

  • Okay what have we used throughout all of human history for work? Horses people, horses. They are doing what they've always done. And the arguement that it hurts their joints. Maybe it does but didnt the cobblestone roads in colonial Massachusetts also do this? And if you get your bill passed where would the horses go? Would they really roam free? I'm pretty sure the owners wouldn't simply let go of their horses just like that. This isn't la la land its real life.

  • Omg!! That's cruel! Poor horses! All those cars around and such a big city! That's dangerous!

  • Poor horses. I can see that too many cars that not safe for horses. Please take all horses to smallest town (less cars) that give more space for horses. I hate to see horses look suffer around too many cars. Not good idea .

  • This is really sad to watch. Poor animals. People suck.

  • I am going down to the City in May, but a Horse Carriage ride won't be on my agenda. This is cruel. To make a horse work all day long, in the heat, noise, traffic, and breath all those exhaust fumes is wrong! What is the matter with these people? It's always about the money, isn't it?

  • This is despicable! NO horse should be made to pull carts on such a busy and dangerous street. Horse carriages in NYC should be banned immediately so the horses don't have to suffer like this. Poor horses! And how dare people show indifference to the horses. It just shows that they're scum.

  • Oh my god! This is so cruel! I will never ride in another carrige again! Poor horses!

  • poor horses. i would never take a ride in such a carriage, it`s so cruel! i can`t understand how so many people are too blind to see the suffering of this creatures

  • :-(

  • these horses were raised this way, they dont know about the other horses that live in the free wilderness...

So what if we free them?

    they'd die.. yeh

exactly what you want eh? .-.

  • these horses were not raised to be roadkill and keep in jail cells. We all have natural instincts and the horses are forced to work in an unnatural and unsuitable city for the sake of cheap entertainment.

  • THANKS for posting these videos!!! I am a horse lover and NYC is no place for horses anymore,it's far too dangerous. These poor horses also seem to be worked every day with no breaks at all.I have heard of horrific accidents where horses have been killed :O( Any idea how many have been killed in recent years? I remember years ago I went to Charleston SC and they had horses too doing the same thing, again in busy, dangerous streets with no regard for the animals

  • September 14, 2007/New York, New York: A horse who was spooked by a street performers drum ran nearly a

block along the sidewalk before slamming into a tree and dying. The horses panic caused a second horse—who was

still attached to a carriage—to dart into traffic and collide with a car.

  • OMG these are horror stories!!!!! There's probably more we don't even know about about-i hope there is justice for these animals

  • @horsesinnyc lies all lies

  • Last year an eight-year-old Percheron carriage horse named Clancy was found dead in his stable. In an unprecedented move, the Department of Health has refused to provide its records to ASPCA investigators who are charged with helping to enforce city carriage horse welfare laws, informing them that they needed to file a Freedom of Information Act to obtain the horse's veterinary and other records.

  • @balto4 acctually they do have breaks if its hotter then 90 degrees they are sent back to the stables and no matter how many of you complain these horses will pull they love it and you all know yes horses get tired but this is what they were bred fora long time ago and their haveo nly been 3 major accidents in 3 years ad 168 bike deaths and people hit by cars what r you goin to do ban that to?

  • @vivienleigh1097 Yes I posted that AGES ago before I did any research and the SPCA even said they have breaks ect. I actually agree it's not the carriages that are the problem it's the number of cars in NYC that are

  • @vivienleigh1097 You're not even understanding what's at matter here. It's a horse, they really shouldn't have any business in New York City. Send them off to farms where they're not worked to death.

  • They die yeh???

No .. they live amongst their own ..

They only die when ignorant humans such as yourself intrude upon their life!!

Take my advice .. go to a horse/animal santuary .. watch those horses .. see how happy they are .. then come back and post on here when you are more enlightened!!

  • They wouldn't free them into the wilderness automatically. They'd have to be taken to a conservation site where they would be shown to live in the wild instead of in the care of people like this! What we want is for horses to be treated fairly. The city is no place for a horse! Especially in high traffic like in New York City. They need to be shown that this is not a normal way of life - that there is more than to just being a slave of a horse carriage driver. Someday, they'll know.

  • So you hate mounted police units too?

  • No offensive to anyone but I bet all you anti-carriage people are somehow related to PETA. Damn liberal media.

  • I honestly don't care if these animals die. Supply and demand, people want horses on streets it's going to happen no matter what you say. It's either this or getting slaughtered for meat. I pass central park all the time and the drivers usually have a hard time getting costumers. Do you really think they want to get pulled by horses all day?(They literally smell like shit). These people would be jobless without these horses! Sorry if your offended by the word shit. Pretend i said fecal matter.

  • Based on your comment it is quite obvious you don't care about the cruelty of these poor horses. People like you only makes our society worse

  • Just so unnatural and wrong ;[[

  • 0:31 illegal U Turn

  • Oh wow. I'm really glad I discovered your channel. I know about horse-drawn carts in the city and all but to see videos and imagine the various tragic consequences is pretty chilling. All it takes is for someone to go through a red light and barrel on into a horse, or keeping horses on the streets in hot & humid weather. It appalls me, really. I saw a program on Animal Planet where animal control officers had to actually pull the horses off the streets because they were so dehydrated. Awful!

  • This is appalling. How can anyone put a horse in that type of situation?? Those companies care more about making money than the welfare of the horse.

  • Please forward this video to all on your email and ask people to take the time to both call, email, and get paper and envelopes and write to all their elected officials to act! This is deplorable!

  • well put heavnick7. there is so little room for error, isn't there? even the BEST horse can become spooked. what matters most is HOW he spooks. is he going to do what is natural to a horse and run or is he going to freeze up and take commands from the driver? a 1500 lb animal can do what it wants WHENEVER it wants. it seems NYC carriage companies are aware of loss unfortunately.

  • Poor creatures...

Horses should not walk in the traffic area such as Manhattan!

  • This is a great video. If there is someone out there who is undecided about this issue, or maybe don't live in NYC, please watch this video that shows the grim reality of the horses' daily lives. The gridlock, sirens, U-turns, heat, exhaust from the buses, etc. Also the poor horse trying to eat rubbish off the street.

Pity the horses, and do NOT take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. There is no reason for this inhumane industry to exist. It disturbs me that our lawmakers allow this.

  • Peeba: Well trained? or drugged. In any case, these horses are just a second away from spooking. And BTW, this issue is about the out of place carriage horses, not police horses.

  • Your video really shows how dangerous it is for the carriage horses on the streets of NYC.

  • poor horses

  • For chateau, yes more will be posted. For peeba, no spying involved

  • Beautiful well mannered horses,please post more.Thanks

  • very nicely put 2gether

  • Thank you for the kind words, quite sad to see these horse IN Traffic.
