I was EXTREMELY FORTUNATE to see Rhoads/Blizzard 2x, once each on both tours '81 and '82. The '81 show (with Motorhead opening) is still the best show I ever saw, especially 10th row center. At the end I just stood their thinking this guy is fricking amazing! He was the best then and he is still the best now!
My first Rock Concert was Spring of 1982, Ozzy Osborne on The Diary of a Madman tour at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Myself and my heavy metal friends waited for a year for this tour and Randy died 3 or 4 days prior to our concert. We wore black arm bands to school the next day. Heavy Metal was for outsiders in those days. Not like it is today. Very Mainstream. I'm glad it survived and became much more popular. We finally saw the concert about 3 or 4 months later with a replacement.
I was born in 94, so I missed a lot, and I don't care what people say, I would rather see this show (or any from the Diary Of A Madman tour) than any show by Hendrix, the Beatles, the Doors, Zeppelin, Elvis or anything else! Randy was the greatest musician who ever lived, and I never got to see him!!!!!! I feel so sad when I think about it.
wonder if randy would be with ozzy today if he was still alive??? hes the one who got me into guitar, listen to tribute over and over till my cassette broke lol
Its truly amazing to see how much this one guy (Randy) influenced so many generations of musicians...from what i understand, he was planning on leaving ozzy and continuing his education, receiving a masters in classical guitar...he was the forefront of neoclassical metal and challenged the previous styles of guitar with new and creative sounds and melodies...thanks randy for all the inspiration the world has seen from you, keep on rocking wherever you are!!
@gdavew63 Ditto! And you are 100% right this was the opening song. If I remember right ozzy came running out of the top of the throne? Or something high up....been a while...but I remember him running down just as the song jumped off.
its randy's mom that has it. you know i understand the tragety. worst tragety ever! but wouldnt you want the world to see you're son's talent??? wtf man
I swear my ears just had sex!!!!!!! I love the Les Paul and the PDV,but personally that Jackson is my fav.:32 sounds so sick,I just keep playing it over and over. Please whomever has all his locked up Pro footage release it for the love of god.!
this show is just a few days after the famous biting off the bat head. this is the first show ozzy showed signs of feeling better from the rabies shots(monkey serum) he was taking.
Randy changed my life forever, as I'm sure he did the life of many other guitarists. He's the one that got me inspired to play in the first place. ............What a gift to humanity!
My older sister was at this show but so fucking wrecked that she remembers none of it Anything in moderation is not a bad motto Remember you might be seeing someone who isnt going to be alive much longer
THE BEST gig from the Randy era. Rnady was awesome as always. OZZY was great, even on THIS song which he usually bombed. And the awesome stage setup and show....
If there was ONE show that they should have professionally recorded/released, should be THIS one.
@kooobla I agree! Even though he DID have a spectacle on the Bark At The Moon tour, I, TOO, DO NOT KNOW WHY Ozzy got rid of the Diary of A Madman/Speak of The Devil spectacle. Thank God I, STILL, have his 1982 show on DVD AND VHS and 1983 show on VHS! In my opinion, the Ultimate Sin was Ozzy on a "decline." In my opinion, he was or got a little too "hair metal" and got too "flashy" during that era.
had tix to this tour ozzy partied too much show postponed opening act was ufo rescheduled randy killed in the 2 week postponement still have ticket never saw the man
those 2, this one thts it. well the end of doam (song) at the beginning of the concert of course idk if tht counts. sucks huh? id love to see tonight, yckrnr, sato, and diary of a madman (song) being played.
i love many guitarists...but Randy Rhoades...he is the jesus of the guitar..the neo of the matrix..mightier than the mighty boosh..RR..THE SHIT....R.I.P..
