I really like this movie. The acting and dialogue can be little stiff at times but the attention to detail and realistic drama in the space scenes is very believable and I absolutely loved the ending. I really don't get why it's so harshly criticised.

AVGN does stuff that nerds are into. Any type of movie with a cult following can be considered to have a nerd fan base, and he usually does major cult movies. I feel Matthew gets over the top with his free reviews, and I'm actually kind of glad that these are the ones people pay for. If he could make them longer, or cite more about it's comparisons, it'd be a step better too.

this movie is really astray from the theme of Apollo 13. It's like saying that Terminator 3 is just a copy of Terminator and Terminator 2. The ending is very far fetched, but it gives deeper insight to origins of the species, and is a pretty profound revelation. Clearly not De Palma's most interesting film efforts.

So how does CM copy AVGN? Being critical is a normal thing, being frustrated and yelling... thats how hes copying AVGN. From what I remember James takes requests for free, this chump asks for a $25 DONATION to take requests, which to him isn't a pay-for-service deal even though technicly thats what it is.

Of course James takes requests for free. He has deals with Screwattack, Gametrailers and Spike and hes partnered with about five other sites. CM is a solo project on a shoestring, beyond the fact they review stuff CM and AVGN have a completely different set up going on. Do your research.

Why do I bother bashing James? Because I'm not afraid of AVGN fans, I know that most of them might be immature because they find his words funny and defend a sell-out with no personality but luckily I try to be nice to children.

AVGN's formula isn't particularly original or inventive. Saying someone copied his review style is like claiming everyone who directs a noir movie is copying the Maltese Falcon. You reveal your own ignorance when you say pithy shit like this.

Would inspred work better? CM atleast sounds more natural when he's angry. How on Earth do you know about critics yelling at bad films? I don't think there were too many film reviews on TV before youtube. Were you walking to Evilgenius? He was the one accusing CM of being an AVGN copy even though the only similarity is yelling, but thats like saying that Mig-29's copy F-15s because they have jet engines.

I watched this film back in my early teens and actually kind of liked it (aside from the ending, which kind of weirded me out a bit).

Of course, I'd never seen "Apollo 13" or "The Abyss" at that point, so that might have changed my perceptions of it.

I just remember thinking the astronaut getting killed by the Mars tornado and the other one having his face freeze in space were kind of cool scenes.

Bad though this movie may be (I haven't seen it myself), the king of all shitty films involving a red planetoid is "Blood Red Planet." That one's more of the so bad it's funny variety, as the production values and the acting are both Z-grade. Actually, it might even be BELOW Z-grade, if that's possible. Only MST3K fans need apply.

I think you are the dumbass, matthew is stating that the dialouge felt unnatural. If a movie doesn't feel like it's sbeen scripting then it feels naturalr, like the Incredibles script.

I actually caught the end of this one day and was just weirded out by it. Sure it got me thinking but I really didn't know this even existed, and after watching this review, nor do I even care.
