hey. i installed fedora core, and im such a noob or new at this.i want the black theme and stuff and the compaz..but i get error trying to intall stuff.pls if anyone can help...my yahoo is zyberline ....pls help me:(

Can anyone tell me how you update compiz? I've been trying to "make install" it, but without luck. It's really difficult to find a HOWTO about it.

not that difficult, search the forums, maybe on the wiki, google for Compiz Fusion official forums and you will find it easy

realneurotiq is right, when updating to a new version, ubuntu for some reason makes you try out these new programs that haven't been tested enough to be considered stable but they don't bother putting the most updated versions of compiz or alsa or other IMPORTANT linux programs/utilities. i'm switching to fedora if for some reason i need to reinstall my os

Yeah, that's the "sucky" part of adding the Compiz repositories; you sometimes get really unstable code. I remember the "turning windows" add-on, which instantly crashed my computer, forcing me to log out. Of course you can disable this, put I agree, it's odd that they don't keep Compiz and ALSA up-to-date.

ya, alsa and compiz were just examples, theres so many more, including the kernel itself. there may be individual kernel updates but there is sometimes a whole version up they don't tell you about. all 3 i had problems with and if it just came updated i wouldn't have had them. for some reason i get a lot of issues with compiling

Es mi PC o el rendimiento mostrado en el video es muy lento y por eso se ve tan frameado??? Por cierto donde consigo ese "Skydome"?

Ademas de que el istanbul (que es lo que uso para instalar) graba a pocas frames el efecto de sphere consume muchisimos recursos ya que las tranformaciones son hechas por el CPU lo que quita muchos recursos, pero en vivo es PERFECTO ni un solo glitch ;)

Y el skydome lo hice yo, nadamas busque una imagen en google y GIMP ;)

Uso Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron, pero esto es de las funtes de compiz fusion (conocidas como GIT) puedes encontrar mas informacion en el foro en la seccion en espaniol, googlea "forum compiz fusion" y listo ;)
