You SF Logic Ninja, are a legend. I've learnt so much from your video's. When you mention about getting to a discussion on gate in the sequencer section, did you ever get around to that? At the moment, the notes seem not to trigger for the length that I specify with the gate in the sequencer. This only happens when sidechaining a synth through Ultrabeat as you've detailed in this video as far as I can tell, not when using sounds generated by Ultrabeat. Cheers!
also man, could u please make a video on looping live in mainstage 2. Im tired of people talking about how much better Ableton live is for looping. I honestly just think they don't know logic 9 and mainstage 2 capibilities. Please do a video on looping in a live setting with mainstage 2. Thanks man
That was good, I have seen FL studio's playing rythmified notes with a nice pattern. This could be a way to do it. A creative channel would be great. How to solve artistical sound or rythm problem and use Logic as an instrument, part of the creative process, not a recording device.

haha has anyone else noticed that every single one of his tutorials has been the main 'gimmick' in an extremely popular song since they started coming out
i'm a huge MSI fan, and they use this effect a LOT, but i'm referring to the new hit "Blame It" by Jamie Foxx and T Pain - its all over the chorus
hey sweet tutorials! i tried this with a kickdrum and bass, and the bass clicks every time it "ungates". i tried playing with all the settings and added limiters to no avail..
sorry i have another big question that`s been on my mind 2) im good at playing drums via keys, cant decide I must invest in a korgpad control or akai mpd? my main use for those would be for the subtle drum rolls and xy flams etc, does logic help in doing that? which integrates better with logic? korg or akai?
Oh sorry, I am so stupid, I forgot to tell you that this instrument midi track was made with EXS24. So, can I put midi from EXS24 into ultrabeat and sidechain?
Hi! I have a question about using midi information into ultrabeat. I made a midi pattern which I`d like to sidechain (or maybe you call that something else) in ultrabeat. Is that possible? HOw can I do that?
Wow Im kinda mad that i didnt see this video earlier. What I was doing was sending a hi hat or kick sample with envelope 4 to 0 and sending it to a bus and recieving it in the side chain of a noise gate or silver gate in the track that I wanted to add the trancegate effect. but this is waaaay simpler and seems to have less room for error and more effects to add to the track!
Awesome. Works great! The only limitation is that the source has to be a non-decaying waveform. (ie. this is the only way to make the attack phase of each note in the sequence identical). The sidechain approach gave me some great ideas to utilize some of my third party software's step sequencers and sidechain native logic applications (ie. esx-24) into these environments. Thanks alot!!!!
Arigato sensei. Your skills are good. I have learned much from you . I hope to learn more from you honorable sensei. Keep us enlighted by the warm rays of your indominatable being. Your loyal student, GB
Hi David, thanks for the tutorial which is great as usual. One question, which third party plugins would be best for using on vocals (making them big and soft like coldplay's) and mastering??
david -just wanted to drop a quick note thanking you, and to heap a bunch of gooey, yummy love and praise your way. you teach with clarity, humor, and direct, immediate, useful information. your skills take the mystery out of the software so we can put the mystery in the music. i just subscribed and am thankful for your energy, time and vibe. { treacherkat a.k.a. another dave
awesome tutorial. ive been searching for something like this since i started using logic. but i cant figure out how to use more than just one channel on ultrabeat. but still, invaluable tutorial. thanks a lot!
Great tip David! question re: automating Ultrabeat:
I found that changing the Envelope filter in Oscillator 1 greatly effects how the ES E sounds.. it would be neat is if I could automate that parameter in Ultrabeat.. but I didn't readily see how.. any ideas?
man dave I don't know why the company doesn't hire you as a damn worldwide representative. I l\had some teachers that knew their shit, ... but you know your SHIT! ...and you don't come across cocky, great to learn from someone who is perosnable!
Thanks dave, you have turned around a completely boring day at work and made it into a field of daisies that I can lie back in and dream of possibilities.
dave it's amazing how every time i have a question regarding recreating something i hear in a song, you seem to answer it within a couple of weeks without me even asking it. i know i've said this before, but thank you so much for doing these videos, you've really helped open me up to logic's true potential
Awesome video dave, thanks. i've been catching up on old videos and hopefully will have some questions for you once i've gone through all your vids. thanks again!
I'm using Logic Express 8, and I tried clicking on the output 1-2 of the ESE track, but I couldn't change that to BUS 1. Can this only be done in the Pro version?
nice videos, are u a fan of the cali chronic?

this doesnt work for me.. I did the preps exactly as you did, but when I play the ESE I hear no sound.. :S tried with Omnispere too..
