God knows what i'd give to have gone to this. my 2 heroes on stage at the same time, Shane AND Joe! Met Joe when i was 10, about 3 months before he died after a Mescaleros gig with my stepdad. Unforgettable. Get well Shane.
T&C in Camden was a great venue. Pogues played the whole week there - think I was there for 4 or 5 of the nights. Would have done the whole week but SLF or Iggy Pop was playing in Brixton same week. Wild days. RIP Joe Public.
thats the black telecaster the only guitar he ever performed with or rcorded with he bought it with the money he got from marrying a women to give her english citezenship. thats what separates joe from others, we need him now more than ever....
My brother took me to this gig a week before my 16th birthday i dont think ive been to a better one since,i had to go home very drunk with odd shoes on as i lost one during london calling but found another at the end, thanks a lot for posting this .
I was indeed,i think The Pogues were at their absolute best around this time, that and all the great guests plus the fact it was St Patricks made it really special . I wasn't going to go cos i was so skint but my brother(bless his heart)stood me drinks all night as well as weighing out for the ticket .
That is a gret rendition of a great song. Good think Shane isn't siging it or we would never know the song outside of the beat. Thanks for posting this.
@Hecklinatyall Shane's still understandable at this point, I think. Judging by how fantastic this gig is it's probably MacGowan at his peak right before his crashing downward spiral, judging by how incomprehensible he sometimes sounded afterward.
Who's the one sad cunt that's disliking every pogues song?

Sorry, not covers. Performances. After all, he's Joe Strummer.

One of the best live versions I've heard of this tune. get a bunch of top notch musicians together and the energy carries it, I reckon...
Saw Joe Strummer fill in for Shane at The Warfield in San Francisco in '91 during the Hell's Ditch tour. Brilliant. Great covers of Clash tunes, too.
