  • This crap isn't even an 8th of a Brock Lesnar workout. After watching this go check out one of Brock's workout sessions on here. There's a short one of Lesnar from when he was with wwe. It shows him jogging with a 185lb log on his shoulder. After watching that check out the ones since he's been with the ufc. They're insane

When you have strength, size ANd agility that brock has, you do have the edge. wonder when they are going to introduce a super heavyweight divison now tho :P cuz if theres gonna be more of this size its gonna get ridiculous for the smaller guys.

  • Size, strength and overall athleticism is the ultimate advantage; but a truely skilled fighter wouldn't have a problem with that. I can picture Fedor vs Brock ending with either Brock mopping the floor with Fedor, or Fedor scoring an armbar while underneath Lesnar. Brandon Vera was like 20-30lbs lighter than Mir and he TKO'd Mir. Mir should just focus on what he does best and not worry about matching Brock for size. His mistake is gettin too close to Brock.

  • , those 20lbs on frank mir were not muscles. he used to be quite on the chunky side, where as brock lesnar doesnt have fat on his body really. So 20lbs of muscles or 20 lbs of fat is a completely different thing.

    I honestly am not a fan of brock lesnar, but if frank mir stayed the same size he was, he would only win against lesnar IF lesnar would be dumb enough to make another grappling mistake in the BJJ department, cuz wrestling wise he's got a lot of titles on his name.[continuing]

    The only thing i was worried about ,and still am a bit, is if frank mir stayed as agile as he used to be grappling wise, because he will need every little bit of his skills to beat brock.

  • First I would I see nothing wrong with the squats Mir is doing. Mark is standing behind him making sure that they are correct, and he even has proper form in the split squats that he is doing.

    Secondly, you have to remember that Mir had a serious motorcycle accident, in which he snapped his left leg in half, and damn near destroyed his knee. The fact that he can workout that heavy, let alone fight the best fighters in the world is amazing.

  • You realize that deep squats are far better for your knee than half squats? When you half squat, the weight is put right onto your knee and quads. When you squat deep, the load is transferred more onto your hamstrings. Also, getting the full ROM trains everything. Training partially creates muscle imbalances.

  • It's not a matter of whats better for your knee, it is a matter of what you can do. Because of the accident he may not have full range of motion in his knee, therefore can not perform the full squat. I am not Frank so I don't know if that is the reason or not, but I have seen him roll a lot, and it does seem like he favors that knee. Added to the fact that when ever he trains or fights it is braced up show that it might be damaged. Having knee injuries myself I know how they effect exercise.

  • Oh really, a top MMA fighter who cannot do full ROM squats and has a broken knee. Yeah ok. If you have a broken knee, you don't fight. Simple as that. And again, partial squats are harder on the knees, tell me why it makes sense to do something that hurts the knees even more.

  • Oh I'm sorry I thought damaged and broken were different things. So tell me if a full ROM squat requires a 100% bend and you only can do about 85%, then I guess you do what you can. And once again look at the video, why would his strength coach let him get away with something half assed. It's not like that how he makes a living or anything. And considering the drast size gain that he showed in the fight with Congo, I guess the so called half squats got the job done. But hey, thats just me.

  • Yes, I do know Franks stats. Mir usually weigh in about 240-250 lbs., which is his walking around weight. In the Fight with Congo weighted 265, and stated that he had to cut weight to make the heavyweight limit. And both he and Mark stated that he has put on 20-25 lbs. since July. And if you look at Frank you can see the difference, it is quite clear. It shows both in his body and his performance. To fully gauge somebodys results it takes viewing more than one 40 second video.

  • If you think you have to squat to parallel to achieve leg strength your insane.. Half squatting will strengthen your entire body.. Just because his squat wouldn't pass in a powerlifitng comp,doesn't mean it won't improve his strength level.. I've squatted 500 raw @205bw in a competition,I know what I'm talking about..

A strength coach is there to instruct in proper form and exercise selection so you get the best results. So a good coach is not going to let you get away with bad technique.   • I don't know where any of you see half squats in this video... I see a torso position and a spot... I guarantee those reps were at least parallel. Half squats don't have a place at PSI. As far as the weight, we can't control a camera crew who likes to record warm-up sets.
