Because of the s14 being turbo its got more response and acceleration than the v8 which has more torque and top end, 1st to 3rd yeah the turbo one wil win, 3rd n onwards thats wen the eight cylinders come in for top end thats how it is
In this video ( Brads s14 vs VE supercharged ute ) you say that the ute was supercharger. if it was superchared you would be able hear the the supercharger wind up over with you turbo or turbos.. THAT MAYBE THE REASON YOU DID NOT ALLOW COMMENSTS ON THAT VIDEO
