Why TF are you repeating what the video just said in your uploader comments?!? God, you're worse than those people who do that in the viewer comments!
@Psychentist Are you seriously posting that on YouTube. Dude, there are plenty of other websites that are specifically designed for what you're doing. Don't post your information on YouTube.

What the hell is your problem? I just thought it was dumb that everyone was making such a big deal about a simple math issue (that doesn't even matter with the comic), and you start talking like an asshole.
And I know what PHB stands for, you didn't need to spell it out (since I am a Dilbert fan I did know what that meant, prick).
I'm sure you did prickette, but the math issue is relevant to the VIDEO (dunno what comic you're talking about) because its the one in the comic. IF we wanna be nerdy about our comics bitch, we will, regardless of what "jibber jabber" you consider it.

First of all you don't even need to bother with the math to enjoy the comic (yeah I called it a comic because it's a comic) and can you talk without using desperate attempts to insult me? I'm sorry I just find it really pathetic that you can't end a single sentence without a swear.
His point is to make it seem like his engineers are overpaid in comparison to others in their field. An excellent reason to cut there pay to better fit the average.
By including low paid or people receiving no pay the engineer's pay looks larger in comparison. If high paid people were included in the survey the engineer's pay would appear well below the average. PHB wants the engineers to think they are getting a better deal.
No they did an average of the industry, which wouldn't include the high payed. PHB 'broadened' the definition of their industry to include low paid or non paid entities.
Ah, I see the problem. The issue isn't the math, it's the categorization. They didn't want to use the average for marketing, which would want the company to seem to be a part of a high paying industry.
It is intended, instead, for employee moral, which would want the industry to seem low paying so that the employee's actual pay would compare favorably to said average. Thus adding under- and unpaid sectors to drive the average down rather than up.

A simple matter of perspective really.
