The photo of his brothers and cousins as pall bearers really gets to me. Two years ago, three of my sons served as pall bearers for my oldest son who, like David, died of a drug overdose, while he was in his 20s. So tragic.
Is the person dissing David not reading what is being said. No one is questioning that drugs is wrong, no one is questioning that Kennedy's have wealth, or that it may have been easier for David to get drugs to fuel his habit. However, unless you knew the man, don't dis him so much. You really have no idea what kind of person he really was, what he was really like. The dreams he had for his life. The fact that he not only saw his Father shot live on tv right under him, he suffered from ptsd.

It was great for you to post this. I dont remeber how the tabloids made him out to be...but Im sure only a few people had some ritous anger towards a government (YES, the government) who had a father heartlessly killed for all his children to see. Im sure the people who had him killed were pleased to see that his son's death only furthured their goal of wiping out the good Kennedy name.
Buddy Novinski...so TRUE! The country never will. They didnt want us to. WHat did we learn? We learned to never expect a politition to have integrity and to share with "We, the people" what is on the agenda. We learned that when really good candidates run for president, they will get killed. When was the last time we dared to REALLY dream of a better tomorrow? I ahae them for killing Bobby.
The story is very very sad. Yes, but the Kennedys being remembered as some form of american saints is horrible. This clan while rich and powerful was the most evil force in american history. They almost became a royal family.. It is tragic they all died this was, America would have been a better place if members had been defeated in office, brought to justice for provable crimes, dnoe time in prison and returned to the normal fold. BUT Divid did nothing wrong. It was just a tragic event.
@006535971 David used drugs, and we tell kids that doing drugs is wrong, so I think he did something wrong. He wasn't perfect either. He lead a life of a rich, spoiled kid like so many others. Not knocking him. It wasn't his choice to be born a Kennedy. It's no different than today. Just like Paris Hilton born rich, and thinking that her name can get her by on all, and she's generally right. The difference is that she's been able to keep her drugs/drinking to a level to not overdose
@006535971 unlike Lindsey Lohan, and others who have so much money, so many people watching them that they end up doing wrong to others and ultimately to themselves.
That ending pic of David is just so poignant, it is as he is waving to us. I suspect that was your intent, but, it is so forceful, to me at least. I wanted you to know that; that things do not go unnoticed. Thanks again, Buzz.
Thank you for making this, and remembering him as you saw him, and not as the tabloids made him out to be, a rich Kennedy, who had everything handed to him, and he died from being selfish by taking drugs. We all have our demons to bear. Our demons don't happen to be publiczied for everything to see and analized by anybody who don't even know us,
it makes you think that money and fame isnt everything... im from the boston area, irish catholic and have had problems with drugs and often think how easy my life would be if i was rich and didnt have to worry. i bet he would have traded the wealth in a second to have a normal everyday family without the looks he probably got everyday from strangers. sad he couldnt get off drugs but maybe his death will teach ppl this disease can touch any family regardless of race or wealth
Whoo! It has been 25 years! David seemed to have everything: wealth, looks, save a purpose to life. When tragedy strikes so hard, sometimes the reaction to it determines its hold. Some find new challenges, some mourn awhile then come out stronger, and some just can't seem to get over the tragedy.
I still remember Wednesday, 5 June 1968. People had on transistor radios awaiting word on RFK's condition all day. As a nation, we still haven't recovered from that blow.
I grew up in Massachusetts, not a far drive from where David grew up. I grew up with an Irish background and roman catholic too so I can relate to the Kennedys. That one photo of the family hauling his casket up the hill is just too much to look at.
David watched his father's assassination on live television, and I think a large part of his soul died that night. He was a kind, gentle man; and well worth this tribute. God bless you for remembering one of the often forgotten and misunderstood members of the Kennedy family.

Yes, his dad was Bobby. He does look sad and melancholic in some pics, but he really had a fun, manic side too. He was a special person.
