@azcopp Jacks are under 30cm. Capilano Coho are infamous for being small in size, but high in delicious. This river had a dam built on it in 1954, stunting the river to be about 8km in length. The river is completely hatchery supported, as there is next to no natural spawning ground left. The early portion of the run, historically swam much further upstream to spawn. With the dam, they are left milling around in the pools for months.
do have anymore tips on fishing coho??? anything i am a beginner....like what exactly lures did you use and whats the best way to execute it....anything would be a great help
@canucksgo Float roe until the bait ban kicks in aug1, then go fishing elsewhere. come back in the fall when the bait ban is lifted. Cap Coho and slobs, they'll eat just about any crusty dried out garbage roe you throw at them as long as they are on the move. As soon as they hole up in the canyon pools lock jaw sets in. Try roe at first/last light, colorado blades (copper or silver) spinners, spoons, who knows. The cap has become very hit and miss in the past 5years.
@onbradley I find the Compay Segundo method of lighting a cigar has worked best for me in the past eleven years. However, you're more than welcome to create your own video on how to light a cigar, rather than makign a cowardly annoymous post on my page.
m@ScreamingReelsTV Numbnuts, it isn't "anonymous" as my initials are O. N. Bradley. Second of all, telling you how to light a cigar is hardly a "cowardly" comment. As for how to do that, why don't you look around on youtube (there are videos) or just read aobut it on the net. Do you really need me to spell it out for you and use hand puppets?
Oh, I forgot, you fish off the cliffs at Cable Pool. hell, we'll need a team of special education assistants to sort you out.
@onbradley wow, such hatred from someone with no apparent qualification. Now if you really want my cigar smoking resume... nah, I don't boast. I know how to light a cigar, and have been doing so for years. But again, if you want to make a video showing people how to light cigars, you go right ahead. If you want to make your own fishing videos, you go right ahead. It's pretty easy to sit behind a screen name and criticize, it's another to go out and do something showing your face.
@ScreamingReelsTV You were the one who stooped to insults, calling me a coward. I just told you how to figure out how to light a cigar. Sorry, I am too busy fishing and landing fish to help you and your AV club at the special needs pool. PS: Jackpoling jacks 30 feet up a cliff is pure ameteur hour shit. No wonder you don't show it. What if you had to release a steelhead but couldn't get it off? Lame.
@onbradley you are a coward. i looked at your profile and saw what negative things you say to others, but have contributed nothing to youtube. if you want to tell people how to lite cigars, go ahead and make a video doing so. its great that you can catch lots of fish, maybe set up a camera make some videos and share. if you just want to hide behind your screen name and post random negative comments, go right ahead and do that like the cowardly little internet troll you are. get a life.
nice video. This year was the best ever for me. I ended up breaking my biggest ever record twice. First I got a 6.8lber in june, then I got a 12lber in September on the fly!! To the flosser who says they won't bite, I say you just have to learn how to fish! Because they do bite when you know what you're doing.
the reason why the meat is red light that is because the food that they eat in the ocean is very rich, such as crab larve, shrip, ect. Thats why fish from the ocean have red meat most of the time.
@JSG949 Capilano coho specifically have flesh that is much richer in colour and has a far better flavour than any other coho I have caught and eaten. I believe it is because of a diet of crab larvae, which ought to be abundant in the areas around west vancouver. There is a uniquness to Cap Coho which makes them so delicious!
@SayHiToRambo flossing is snagging. The only way to legally catch fish is to trick it to bite whatever you have put in front of it. Be it bait, fly, blade, or some other kind of lure, if the fish didn't bite it's foul hooked.
@ScreamingReelsTV flossing is not snagging. Snagging is defined as a "foul hook to the body". Flossing makes it appear as the fish bit it. But we all know it was actually because the line got caught in its mouth and the hook followed up. I floss the cap cause the coho and chinook rarely take anything else. I have never hooked one in the body. Majority of them are taken in the beak, or upper inside jaw.
once again another awesome video. I'm heading to the cap first light tomorrow myself...lower end of the river though. However, I may stop by the cable pool towards the end for a few casts as long as there's no crowd
@liquidz604 Thank-you. As usual word is out that the fish are "in" on the cap. I went back a few days later and now it's wall to wall guys. This is normal enough though. I usually stop fishing that river by mid june, there's just too many people on it.
@ScreamingReelsTV I was up there last week and had to leave after an hour, I'm not a fan of cambat fishing, had almost 15 guys on the pool I had success on the previous week. I might try a few outtings mid week to see how the crowds are, otherwise I'll be waiting for the chinook runs elsewhere
Wow that nice redish meat is nice. have you tried eating it raw?

@SayHiToRambo You're a beak. You have no skills. Go Away.

People dont understand the difference between flossing and snagging. There are a ton of snaggers at cable pool, keep an eye out.

I was looking forward to the "gear used" at the end of the video... too bad. Was it the usual Talisman with Lamiglas X113?
