@frostedkittenz The Henckels were the Professional S line and the Wutshof was the Classic line. Both forged, both top of the line at the time, and both more expensive than Cutco.
@NaderA17 I figured, i checked the CATRA test because everyone kept saying we compared to their "cheap stamped" lines, but in the video its 2 top rated lines. haters gonna hate!
these people actually talking down to the quality of cutco are just imbeciles who have no clue as to what they are even talking about. 1) he compared straight edges becuase those were the companies "best" cutting knife so he compared cutco's best cutting knife thus the DD edge 2) these blades are made a high carbon stainless steel.
so unless you want to sound like fucking retard i suggest you do abit of research before you decide to spout your opinion to the masses >.>
Im SO FUCKING CONFUSED. Why do they use rope as an accurate test of a knifes worth? Lets take a cutco, find a chef in a restaurant that would be WILLING to use it (good luck...cutcos are pieces of shit), and then let him use it for a month. The knife will be worth less then a nail file in 3 days tops.
p.s. I love how brainwashed they are. if they don't know the answer they just murmur "cutccoooooo....?"
@bobjoemagee Rope because it's tough and fibrous like meat but doesn't require refrigeration and is cheaper. 2. Lots of chef's use Cutco, typically commercial kitchens use cheap knives that are frequently replaced though for two reasons 1) expensive knives would get stolen by staff 2) they one-stop-shop and buy their knives from their food vendor because they typically get a kick back. Same reason they get soap from food vendor.
ps. They aren't murmuring, they are shouting. Brainwash...
@NaderA17 What Chefs use Cutco? No restaurant that has more than a single star uses Cutco, I can guarantee that. Commercial kitchens like McDonald's might use cheap stamped stainless blades (like Cutco), but of course they aren't going to buy Shun, Kasumi, Global, or anything with half decent steel. Actual reputable Chefs have their own cutlery, and it will never be Cutco. 440A is the lowest quality cutlery stainless out there, save non HC 420 series; terrible edge retention.
@RebelWrestler45 I was in the industry for 7 years, I no longer work for the company, so I'll make this short and sweet. Cutco is a home-use product not a commercial kitchen product. The guarantee is void when used in commercial kitchens. With that said, I'm not going to debate which kitchens do or don't use Cutco, I don't care nor does it change the quality of the knives.
@RebelWrestler45 2. If you are going to make claims about steel quality and edge retention, you need to back it up with factual, non-bias, proof. My video compare 3 brands of knives, brand new out of package, using a rope as a cutting medium. Make your own video and prove me wrong.
@NaderA17 nice reply i like your style LOL always love when someone that KNOWS about CUTCO shuts someone else that just wikipedia everything lol :) by the way im a sales rep here in PR and let me just say everyone loves it here and like you said is a home product and its the best :) ty good sir for the video
@NaderA17 Here is an actual comprehensive test; go to cookingforengineers . com and search "Chef's Knives Rated". Tojiro and Forschner at less than half the price of Cutco outperform it by leaps and bounds. Besides, simple metallurgical knowledge will demonstrate that 440A's low carbon content and high amount of free chromium (chromium not contained in carbides) will have poor wear resistance, poor toughness, and high stain resistance. 440A is cheap junk and Cutco is a ripoff.
@RebelWrestler45 is this the guy from 9 months ago? I can think of better ways to spend 9 months than scouring the internet for back-up. 1. The website is a blog. Show the knives NEW in package, then video the cutting. There's no proof in this test. 2. Quit carrying the "cutco is a ripoff" badge of courage, get a life.
@bobjoemagee Not only is rope tough and fibrous like Nader said, but it also doesn't harm the knives and proves how good the knives really are. I'm a Cutco rep, and I've seen how great they work. There aren't any tricks or anything with Cutco. They really are great knives.
the cutco DD edge is awesome and all, but he's comparing it to straight edges, you have to sharpen those basically after or before every use, cutco straight edges would get the same results as the henckels one as well..
oh, i guess i just misinterpreted, i was tired and thinking about the demo we show, only using the DD edge, i never saw the cutco straight edge cut the rope, till now!

This wasn't for a customer it was for a conference. Definitely wouldn't want to do this for a customer unless you were really good at sharpening too.
NaderA17 2 years ago
Neato, except I'm pretty sure you'd piss off most customers by dulling their nice knives - it kind of obligates them to buy from you now.
But I lol'd. "Just five times... just five times right?" I'm guessing this is you doing this? Nicely done.
