  • LOOKS LIKE HE WENT OFF THE DEEP END IN HIS OLD AGE, HERE WE ARE IN 2012 AND THESE FILTHY OLD HIPPIES ARE STILL BABLING ABOUT THE PLANKTON DISAPEARING FROM THE OCEANS. NO, WE STILL EAT CATTLE??? YES THE RAIN FOREST IS STILL THERE, EVEN AFTER ALL THE DIRE PREDICTIONS. YES, THE GLOBAL WARMING COMMUNITY WAS CAUGHT AND EXPOSED AS TOTAL FUCKING LIARS JUST RECENTLY IN A LITTLE INCIDENT KNOWN AS "CLIMATE GATE" PROBABLY CENSORED FROM EUROPEAN MEDIA. EUROPEANS ARE LIKE SHEEP FACISTCOMMUNISTSOCIALIST=SHEEP

  • The world has five years before sustained heat waves and cold snaps wreck the world.

  • i had the tape -- still do somewhere---- future video mgmt tech...?!

  • "A time when the Japanese weren't running everything".

    Ahhh, the pitfalls of prediction.

  • It will be the Chinese running everything

  • @colinmaharaj

I don't know; watch out for the British!

  • BTW I recognise the synth used for a lot of the sound effects - I had a Korg M1 Wavestation for a long time. Owning synthesizers ruins so much music - you wouldn't believe... I think it is going to be too late. I think most major cities will be abandoned and most of the ability of the earth to produce food destroyed. But the species will survive. Good luck, descendants.

  • charlie sheen is WINNING!!

  • Sadly, I believe that I can predict with confidence that it will be too little too late because that's what history teaches us. Just look at smokers, they know that smoking will in all likelihood be the cause of their deaths but they don't stop. Humans simply cannot see past the here and now. The inevitable result will be that the children being born today will reap the whirlwind. Full on nuclear exchanges are almost a certainty. I give mankind at most a 50% chance of reaching the next century.

  • I watch this in 1989 and then went to a lecture by James Burke and met him. We talked about this issue at length. I was 14 years old and I've watched the predictions made in this series come true to a large extent. Please pay attention to solid science and reject the false debate about global warming. It's a fact and we need to deal with it.

  • cheesy

  • the sun is an electric anode it gets its energy from the galaxy which is connected by electrical filaments to other galaxies. so we get our energy fromm the sun and the galaxy where does that come from?

  • The BIGGEST thing I learned from CONNECTIONS is humankind has to start creating space based industries and settlements off our planet---'The Earth is the cradle of humankind but humankind cannot remain in its cradle forever'.

  • @rangeclerk

The money spent on space travel and space research outside our atmosphere(ISS, satellites) could have solved world hunger, every curable disease, and then some if it had been spent wisely. We've learned more about space through telescopes. The earth is our only chance of survival unless aliens sweep us away to a earth-like planet in another galaxy. You need to stop watching sci-fi movies, there is no way to travel to, and maintain, a habitable settlement outside of earth.

  • @Grungadin Gee u must be an EXPERT on the way to talk about "the money spent on space"---so what % of the US Federal Budget goes to NASA compared to the WELFARE Agency known has HHS and during Apollo HEW? Ever read or hear of Gerald K O'Neill--Princeton U? The High Frontier---closed minded one and what happens when a comet/asteroid slams into this planet of ours---then what--or do u perfer to see all of HUMANITY DIE?--Must HATE yourself self?

  • I want a proper DVD of this please can someone help me out?

  • The world climate has not risen for fifteen years.. This is all built around those dodgy hockey stick figures.. Notice he mentions order.. federations.. as he spouts the Illuminati propaganda he's been given privy to.. misdirected by another chance to earn good money .. for helping get their media band wagon a'rolling

  • I was just watching this again recently, and I think it's pretty prescient (yeah he gets some predictions and dates wrong, but come on, it was from what we knew in 1992).

I think Burke was overly optimistic about the future though, especially about countries uniting together to fight against the problem though -- it simply hasn't happened.

Sadly, it looks like those we're in for those upcoming crop failures and mass refugees in the next 10-30 years.

  • At 8:25 he speaks of 15,000 years ago where the TRUE Australians were land-locked on the continent. The aborigines.

I never saw or heard of this series. I have some videos I want to put up that are the "After Words" from 5 of the TDTUC from my PBS recordings of the mid 1980's but am fearful of violating copyright although they should qualify under clause 17 for Fair Use.

  • This, or any small enough segment certainly qualifies. My channel doesn't unfortunately ;) but nobody seems to want to take it down which is, I think, a testament to Ambrose Video's maturity in this messed up "copy-wrong" world ;). I hope they are not losing money over it... but I know 3rd the world gains access to quality education through the channel (many mails from school teachers using the channel in their classrooms).

So Merry X-mas to Ambrose from JBW!

  • Human induced climate change is a lie.

  • What happened to the great crop failures of 2005?!

  • @mrssalina

They happened. But not in an area you're getting news from.

  • I was hunting for my video cassette of this I recorded off a PBS station during the 1st Bush/Gulf war. It dawned on me to see if it was here. Nice job on the uploads JBW. Zeitgeist/Venus Project re-ignited my desire to see this again and on the eve of the Copenhagen summit, the blogs have been smokin'! I notice there are people that are quick to denounce Al Gore and David Suzuki but never a mention of JB/ATW. Too bad because JB addresses the endless debate/reports/arguing. 20 Years!

  • Ya... well, I thought it was fun and entertaining. Sure it's all speculation, but still fun to watch. The historical bits are interesting.

  • It is online in full (no 10min segments) for free download from Google's video service. That's how I found this.

  • Wait. When is this video from?

  • 1992

  • 2022 for the evacuation of New Orleans? More like 2005 :/

  • Hehe. Ya that was a bit of a surprise ;)

  • hey, checkout that "global information network" logo... the earth inside a triangle, just like the eye above the pyramid on the back of a dollar bill.

no, i'm no conspiracy nut, but that's what they're all going to say.... new world order, global government, freemasons, etc.

i mean, c'mon. "planetary management authority"? maybe the producers are alex jones fans.

  • Heh... ya.

Personally I can't wait for the day when the word "authority" becomes totally incomprehensible to the human mind. That would mark the next step in our evolution... Err! ... that is if there's any more evolution to be had!

  • @JamesBurkeWeb

"Personally I can't wait for the day when the word "authority" becomes totally incomprehensible to the human mind."

Such a wonderful thought, but it ain't gonna happen. We will always have an infinite number of assholes who believe themselves to be the "authority" on everything. :)

  • This film may or may not have a good point. I may never know because I couldn't watch it beyond about 1:30 or so. It is incredibly racist!

  • huh?

  • I think it was a joke.

  • In what way is this at all racist?

  • I think (if I could see all comments like the link said I could) that you would see more discussion above concerning this. Or it may be a different show. Anyway, no it's exactly the opposite and if someone claimed it was racist they obviously have trouble dealing with satire!

    ↓↓↓↓ !! SATIRE!! ↓↓↓↓

Perhaps the poster was a chink ;)

  • Is this all about that crack James made about "the Japanese running everything?"

For you youngsters (i.e., anyone under 20 nowadays) out there in cyberspace, we really *were* worried about the Japanese ruling the world through corporate takeovers.

Then their stock market collapsed, and we forgot all about them until Sailor Moon fans told us how great anime was. (Anyone remember when we considered that high art and not merely one more cliché?)

  • lol... but it's true!

  • This is the second comment I have read that you have made regarding the visibility of comments. The other is on your channel page where you are speaking of the dimensions of the display monitor. It seemed you mentioned height. I have an external monitor that is logically directly above my main monitor so that I can stretch my browser to about double heighth. Are you using WebTV?

  • It was a bug that has since been fixed... I could only see the latest response and no other comments.

    - JBW

  • whoa James Burke sci fi

  • Heh, it is kind of funny in a way.

[accent] Valley girl... their "futuristic" studio setup is so... so like... like... like like like sooo 2006! Lame, NOT cool.
