  • Perhaps I'm just very into cheesy movies, but I was totally excited about EVERY part of this film. I just watched it...again. It was so great, and I'm still excited about it many months later. I'm thrilled that the movie ended the way it did. Snape's memories had me literally sobbing in the theatre. It was A-MAZ-ING. I couldn't have asked for a better film. Love you guys, by the way. :)

  • i actually liked the ending when they played the' leaving hogwarts' theme

i was a bit underwhelmed when i first saw the movie though, because this was the first time where i knew what happened in the book before seeing the film, so i expected a lot of things that didnt show up on screen

  • I would have to agree with Bella..

It definitely somewhat got more to a hollywood style unfortunately. Not my favourite of the movies by far. The movie was full of action, but I don't think its the action in harry potter that made everyone love it so much. It was the story and the creation and expression of such a magical world (Was why i loved the earlier movies) The ending of DH2 seemed just wrong, i would of thought, and hoped more effort would of gone into the ending to an amazing series.

  • I disagree.

  • Continued...

Yes, the ending was so cheesy. I’m glad they did the adults with their children, but the styles were awful!

I understand if you were sick of the music, but I found it nostalgic.

Snapes bit with Lily was awesome! They could have left it with that heart-string ripping look but I still liked his grief and Alan did it so well that it felt right to let him have his cuddle with the woman he was in love with but lost to his rival.

  • This is probably going to be pretty long…

Lily, I think I can see what you mean about the Hollywoodised epic battle scene, but I disagree. I think it had to be epic and I still see it as a Warner Brothers film. I don’t think it was cheesy at all. It had to be dramatic – it’s Harry Potter!

I enjoyed Bellatrix’s death: I was waiting for Molly’s “NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!” and then exploding – such a fitting end for Bella.

  • YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY love.

  • Question: Do you guys in the UK have some sort of holiday in October? Weird question I know, but when I went to Universal back in October to do the Disney/Universal parks and there were SO many people from the UK and Ireland there. I had gone to the parks quite a few times before but in the summer time.... so I was curious about that.

And as for the HP film, I liked it. I really enjoyed the Prince's Tale (though I wanted to see MOREof it!)

  • @ep301 I expect you were there during half-term holiday. With most schools (if not all) they are a week long, whilst the Christmas and Easter holidays are two weeks.

  • @Sapphire848

Ah that would explain it. Thanks! :)

  • OMG BELLA! I agree with you so much! I actually hated how Voldemort died, I mean, the whole series was about how it would come down to Voldemort and Harry and Voldy dies after his snake is cut by Neville? That just ruined the whole movie for me. I didn't really like it at all. Also why didn't he fix his wand instead of just breaking it! I could rant for hours on this! So much stuff was left out and it just annoyed me so much!

  • I LOVED THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought most ppl did too until i watched this vid and looked at the comments

  • I agree with Lili! I did enjoy the film but it was so different to the book!

  • i dont know what the blonde girl is called but i agree with her 100%

  • I think the movie ending was much better than in the book. While reading the book I thought "how obvious is that" -.- But in the movie it was much better and Ginny wasn't so annoying anymore.

But I didn't cry! :( I cried in the end of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows part 1 but not in HP 7 part 2.

  • Snape rocking Lily thing was definetly overkill. People should have been gathered around when Harry killed Voldemort though- it was such a poignant moment, and they weren't THERE! The joy was needed. Also, I didn't cry enough- just a few tears, but I cried for ages in P1 for Dobby's death, so I feel that it didn't connect with me- probably because it was so over the top that it detracted from the seriousness of the deaths themselves. Left out bits- sigh- but it was good. I guess I'm picky.

  • I hated it. I LOVE HP but this one was a disappointment. David Yates said this one would be the truest to the book and it was so unlike the book. I might even say it's worse than Order of the Phoenix. The epilogue did make me cry..... I was the only one crying in the cinema. It was a bit awkward.

  • and why did harry snap the elder wand and not fix his own wand!!! and also, neville and luna werent meant to get together, it was luna and newt scamanders great-great-great grandson

  • absolutely the best movie! but some points were disappointing, like the epilouge and bellatrix and voldemort exploding, which was definitely too blockbuster style! i suppose they had to keep the people who hadnt read the books interested, and that was how they chose to do it. by blowing up characters. oh well! (but at least they kept "not my children, you b!t€h!")

  • They cut off the part when Fred dies because they thought it would be too emotional for the fans. But I would have loved to see that, and I like the emotional parts. And I agree, Alan Rickman was amazing in all of the movies. <3

  • not to mention the epilogue... that was horrendous. I didnt even get to meet James and the children! :C

  • ugh they messed up so much of the scenes, they switched around stuff... it was just a mess. i guess it would be good for someone who hasn't read the books, but im kinda a purist when it comes to the movies so i didnt like it at all. one of the biggest things i wish they had put in were more of Snape's memories, because they showed more about lily and snape's relationship, which made you forgive him more.

  • Am I the only person who completely disagreed with like this whole review? I feel like I'll be attacked for saying this, but I did. The last book is my favorite, and, even though the movie changed bits and dramatized it, I thought it was easily the best movie of the 8. There were bits I disliked, but overall, it was almost flawless.

  • @queenanneboleyn I actually did say it was my favourite of them all. ~Ally~

  • @alwayspureblood I guess I did agree with that bit. :)

  • My heart still aches for Snape *sniff*

  • I agree. I liked it but it was nothing special. It could have been better. Did Neville kill the snake in the book? Because I don't remember that. I thought the ending was about how Harry had all 3 Deathly Hallows and the importance of that. The movie wasn't satisfying. It made me want to read the book!

  • Have you noticed that the students/otherpeople didnt really have much of a reaction the fact that the darkest wizard EVER had just been killed and their lives could go back to normal? no one even said thanks to harry.. no one even CLAPPED him!like WTH! he just saved you arses!!

I LOVED the bit where Remus and tonks are trying to hold hands before they die and then why they die there still not touching I was like why dont you just rip my heart out and stamp on it!

    ALAN RICKMAN NEEDS AN OSCAR!

  • @wolfgirlrachie TOTALLY agree with everything you just said :) ~Ally~xxx

  • So many things wrong (mainly the lack of Teddy Lupin), so many things right.

    Meh.

  • @LashleyLove4ever i know they NEED more Teddy!! he better be on the deleted scenes when the dvd comes out or im gonna be one angry potterhead!!

  • i completley agree with you bella :)

  • I loved Gringotts, SO MUCH. Griphook was perfect...vindictive and creepy. I loved the Room of Requirement scene aswell...they nailed it.

I loathed the weird crumpling of the bodies.

One of the reasons I loved Voldemort's death in the book is because at the end of the day, he is just a man. He doesn't have a weird regal death, he just falls with a great big thud. Also...I really disliked the falling off the building bit...I wish that they had done it like the book...with everybody watching!

  • urghhh you guys are so negative! cant you be a little more positive??

  • i couldn't stand voldemorts death, it should have been like the book. At least you would have been able to see his expression. It would've held a lot more significance than him just fading away just like every other time he was killed...

i also liked the r&h kiss, but i preferred the book version

overall i really liked the film, but i enjoyed the first part more :)

  • It wasn't great. I cried, but I couldn't enjoy it too much, the bits that they changed irritated me too much. I hated when they tried to make jokes in the battle, I thought that was so inappropriate! Also when harry showed up and hogwarts and that stupid ghost woman- WRONG WRONG WRONG. And agreed, the ending was shite.

  • oh yeah the epilogue should have been at the end of the whole credits that was the worst ending ever made to the greatest film ever made

  • here's the thing i liked abut the book with Voldemort's death it was dramatic like in Return of the Jedi when Luke builds up anger at the Emperor then Vader fights him that's what the book did it but it up to the point of just finish this the movie just goes and says fuck the build up kill the basted

  • I was so made that Severus's last words were "You have your mother's eyes" then they give young Lily brown eyes. Completely different from all the other actors, not the green or the blue, no brown. What do you think about this? Does Warner Bros. think we are color blind or something?!

  • OMG! I felt the same way! I feel like a could have been a bit better!

  • In the epilogue it didn't look like they had aged 19 years, it looked like they'd been homeless for a few months.

  • I cried through the whole thing, i thought it was the best one. BUT what did piss me off, was how they didnt elaborate on some important stuff, like Fred dying. Also, I HATED how they didnt include the whole story of how Petunia wrote a letter to Dumbledor saying she wanted to go to Hogwarts. I thought that was extremely important and even touching, but it wasnt in the movie at all!

  • I think they made the "Big 7" and snape look really good in the movie..... A great way to end a great movie saga!!

  • I don't think the Snape bit was overkill---but only because I was overcome with the ridiculous sadness that went with that! I think if I perhaps saw it again, sort of out of that initial moment, it might be a bit much.

  • they didn't have hardly any mention of Teddy Lupin? which annoys me. and WHY WHY WHY wasnt he in the epilouge?? J.K has said in an interview once that one of the reasons she wrote the epilouge was to show that Teddy was alright aand surrounded by people who cared (and to show us how things turned out with harry of corse) i don't like the bit where he just SNAPS THE BLOODY ELDER WAND! its the most powerful wand in the world would you be able just to snap it like that????????

  • @wolfgirlrachie agreed!!!

  • @wolfgirlrachie GAH I know! In the movie he didn't even repair his own wand first! *facepalm*

  • @wolfgirlrachie and he didnt even fix his own wand first! lol he's gonna regret that

  • @bubblehobos yeah now he's gonna have to be muggle for a while until Olivander can get him another wand :') what a numpty right!

  • @wolfgirlrachie I think the reason why it snapped so easily is because in the scene where Voldemort hits the barrier is shows the wand cracking so it was weakened.

  • @95JessBess or it could be that only the master of the wand would have the power to snap it?

  • I hoped they would show Tonks and Lupin die...but no. Still mad about them just beeing dead, no mention about how they died. :(

  • i did enjoy it but with the battle of hogwarts could of been better and killing voldemort was way to easy i mean he killed everyone in the wizarding world 17 years ago now hes getting killed by a 17 year old boy

  • I liked the movie itself, just not in comparison to the books.

  • I cried when snape was holding Lili

  • I agree with Bella

  • I kind of agree with everything you just said :p

  • I don't care what anyone says I loved the movie. I didn't mind the changes from the books as much as the previous ones. This was easily the best in the series.

  • @MaverickVince2020 i agree, i loved it :) my fav of the movies :D

  • Best part: Prince's Tale (including Snape holding Lily );

Best part in 3D: Gringotts train ride.

    Worst part: Bellatrix exploding.

Cheesiest part: King's Cross (didn't explain why Harry didn't die)

Biggest cheer in cinema: Neville's confrontation with Voldemort.

My favourite is still DH part 1 - I liked Dh p2 : but I just had higher expectations of it.

    :)

  • I think Voldemort's death was a lot better in the books. I thought it was cool while I was watching the film, but...I don't know. Voldemort's death is so mundane in the books. He just dies. Voldemort is still human, dispite the horcruxes and the like. So I didn't get why he would just float away...and I really wish it had been Harry and Voldemort surrounded by all of the Hogwarts kids. I kind of wish they'd given Fred a bit more time, too. Snape made me cry. His memories and his death both.

  • Oh, and those rioters need to stop it! The last thing this world needs is more violence and destruction. Stop it!!!

  • I was pretty satisfied with the movie. It doesn't even compare with the book though. Some of the added scenes during the battle were unnecessary. What bothered me most was the lack of definition during the Fred death scene. I had to explain A LOT to my wife (who hasn't read the DH book yet) afterwards.

  • FINALLY!

  • Voldemort didn't scream so Bellatrix must not have died! the barriers must have been gone and she must have apperated away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I cried seven pints

  • I basically agree with everything you said.. Although I don't think it was as cheesy as she said it was. And some of the lines they could have kept like when Harry enters the forest they didn't need to chane it to I'm ready to die... Or what ever he said, they could have kept it I am about to die. And the epilogue was HORRIBLE!!!! that was the worst portrayal they could have done....no one said anything except for harry and albus. Grrr but because it was the end :'( it was a good movie very epi

  • My friends loved it and thought it was perfect. To me, it was an overall, "Meh." Which I hate! So when I complained about it to my friend she was like well think of it this way, the books and movies are two completely separate things, they will never be the same. But still they could have done a SHIT ton better. ugh. auhsfagh.

  • i agree the ending sucked :/

  • we all know the books are better then the films. get over it the films are NOT THE BOOKS with a book you can write as much as u want with a film u have a budget a schedule and a time. Be grateful we dont get shitty movies like twilight. WE get very good films! films that are so good their the #1 movie franchise of all time. So shut up

  • I disagree with you guys completely! I absolutely loved the movie! I don't think it was cheesy at all. Overkill? I don't think so. In my eyes it was pretty much perfect. I wasn't that upset at the thing they left out, with the exception of Harry-Voldemort battle and Harry not repairing his wand. However, after watching it four times I have accepted the fact that the movie is different from the book and I love both completely. I also loved the epilogue, although I did notice how short Harry is.

  • i was just laughing at how nape says "you have yor mother's eyes" and 2 minutes later they show lily and her eyes were brown hahahah.

buuuut the snape+lily thing was my favorite part,so heartwhrenching.

  • I liked the movie up until the ending. I think what bothered me most was the fact that when Harry finally killed Voldemort nobody was there to witness it. I mean, the only thing Harry got was a pat on the back from Hagrid. Really? I was so confused, as was my friend who came with me, wondering if everyone knew that Voldemort was finally gone because there was no real reaction like there was in the book, no cheering, no hugging...

  • They filmed Fred's death but it was determined to be too graphic to keep in the theatre version but it's going to be on the DVD. :)

  • @KATEisFAB how do u know do u have connections?

  • Better than the book?! Heresy! =P

  • I know what unmean hedwig's theme and potter waltz played so many times there I thought I would shoot myself.

  • @Jplocinik11 thank u i hated that i mean when he enters Hogwarts that was fine but it became a pine after that and the intro when the title scrolled on it was like Lord Of The Rings wtf was that i really wanted a bad ass battle them up to and finishing with a big loud thundering boom and we get Lord Of The Rings the worst three films ever made in this decade in my opinion

  • The part in which Snape sees Lily's corpse and holds it absolutely broke my little heart, which is strange because I hate romances.

  • I loved it. It was my favorite one out of them all. There were some things like McGonagall and Snapes duel and going to Ravenclaw Tower that I wish had've stayed the same as the book. But over all it was amazing!

WHY MUST WE WAIT FOR PART 2!? :(

  • In the film Harry out magicked voldermort wtf and the cores connected wtf only the first 3 movies where good/close to the book the others went down hill

  • I love Lili's face while Ally is talking.

  • I totally, absolutely agree with Lili on everything. The movie was way to Hollywood and cheesy. I was also really angry that they barely mentioned Teddy Lupin and didn't have the Teddy/Victoire moment at the end.

  • i'm surprised you didn' t comment on the fact lily changed clothes post mortum...they showed the stock footage of her dying, and she's wearing all black, then when she's dead, she's wearing a bathroom...anyways, please stay safe, I hope the riots will end soon

  • I think the fact that Fred must have been murdered AFTER Voldemort issued the order to retreat made it actually more tragic.

  • Snape's death and the tear scene was the highlight of the movie. Over all I thought this movie was really good but a bit rushed. However, this is a harry potter film so I expected it to have some flaws. I also think that both parts of the movie should be reviewed as one film because one part cannot stand alone as a movie.

  • 00:47 Oimax, lol

  • I love watching your videos girls and i really hate to do this but im gonna have to dislike this. i respect your opinions and understand them. i'll crucio myself now. lol

  • Lili i 100% agree Bella's death, FAIL! Blown up? The ending was way to cheesy for me though.

  • Awkward Voldemort hug.

  • @Mazsk Yes, that should have been cut. I could see Voldemort slapping him across the face for being close to "blood-traitors" but hugging him? Blasphemy!

  • I enjoyed it as a film, not so much as a Deathly Hallows film. It was much better the 2nd time I saw it though. Up until the Battle of Hogwarts was really good, most of the battle was pretty good (aside from a few stupid things), but the point after Harry revealed that he wasn't dead after all was STUPID. Normally I don't get upset about changes from the books to movies because I separate them really well, but I was disappointed by how they TOTALLY changed the meaning of the ending of DH.

  • @belleglass I agree. The movie was good but the ending could've been better. They left out the entire scene from the book where voldemort and harry were talking at the end about love and the elder wand belonging to harry right before harry killed voldemort while everyone was watching.

  • @belleglass What do you mean, 'changed the meaning of the ending of DH'?

  • @shadowofanight There were a lot of annoying things about the end of DH (eg the drawn out Neville/snake battle) but the BIG thing was the Voldemort/Harry battle. In the book, this WHOLE THING is about how Harry died to save other people, like his mother had done, and how Voldemort essentially defeated himself by never understanding love. It's ALL about love. Call it kitschy, call it beautiful, but that was the WHOLE point of the final battle. The movie TOTALLY blew over that. Like, COMPLETELY.

  • @belleglass Yeah, but the films (with the exception of PS, maybe) never did focus on the love aspect of the books, it would have been awkward if just this once they did it. I never expected the final duel to be like in the book in that sense, but I was pleased with it. I loved the film. :P

  • @shadowofanight To change it COMPLETELY totally changes the end of DH, though. And I thought the final battle wasn't changed for the best, it just looked stupid and way drawn out. Let's be real, Harry would NEVER win in a real, honest-to-God duel with Voldemort; he's a good wizard but he's also only 17 and Voldemort is effing powerful, even without Horcruxes.

  • @belleglass They way I see it, they made it look like Voldemort was getting weaker and weaker throughout the film as Horcruxes were being destroyed. There have been shots in which he was sweating and examining his 'damaged' hand. I think he lost much of his power by the time he and Harry duelled. While that is quite different from the book, I really did think it worked for the movie.

  • @shadowofanight I agree that they showed him getting weaker, which was a nice touch, but the fact remains that he was a way more powerful wizard than Harry. He was more powerful than each individual member of the Order except for Dumbledore, regardless of his Horcruxes (they didn't directly help him in duels other than ensuring that he couldn't permanently die). I know they have to change things for a cinematic touch, but I just thought it was so unbelievable. :P

  • @belleglass Yeah, he was that powerful. Still, he died because there were no other Horcruxes left. After Neville killed Nagini, he started disintegrating, Harry did nothing but disarm him. I thought it worked, especially combined with the Nagini scenes. :D

  • @shadowofanight I mean, I still think they messed it up, but no use complaining because it's done now, right? I have the book to reread to keep me happy, so it's all good :) I'm glad you liked the movie, though.

  • @belleglass Yep, the books are awesome, infinitely better than the movies. Whether you return by page or the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home. :P

  • What bothered me is how all the bad guys were given cartoony deaths to protect the innoence of the main characters. Bellatrix's death was irrideemable, the best thing they got right is Snape. They gave his character a right service and his death was artsy and showed how film can be used to create more of a reaction than the book.

  • @PlausiblePictures well they had to make it a kid like movie since alot of kids love it....

  • DanRad sounded like Rupert in the epilogue?

  • Lili actually said what me and my friends have been saying ever since we saw the movie. It had the potential to be SO much better...the tone really was different than the epic, serious tone of the book D=

I still enjoyed most of the movie though

  • LOVED THIS HAHA :) Ending quick, had it on full screen. I was laughing, agreeing, disagreeing, arghh I want Part 2 -dies

  • Snape was bitten by that snake like 5 times, it was horrible but I liked it when he rocked lily

  • yayayayayay :D

  • AGREED! SECOND!

  • @HalfbloodPrincess72

    Agreed with Ally that is.

  • I'm with you Lili and you are the first person I've heard be negative about the film. It could have been so much better if it wasn't dripping with movie cheese. The film just didn't have the epic-ness it needed or deserved.
