  • The Music comes from an Industry Music Library-(Bruton) is the library name.

These library's are typically not accessible to the general public and are pricey!

  • What is the Music

  • Can't get more AMERICAN than this!!!

  • Great video. America has the best designs in diesellocomotives.

  • I wonder if any those PAs were the ones that went to the D&H?

  • The theme music is familiar: it is identical to the signature music of the original Australian-produced TV series "Wings" on the Discovery Channel in the late 1980s. Does anyone know the name of that theme?

  • Is there anywhere to buy this on DVD?

  • You can purchase this at greenfrog online--20002dvd

  • Hello;

Here is the definition and spelling of that word from the dictionary--

    e·pit·o·me/iˈpitəmē/Noun

    1. A person or thing that is a perfect example of a particular quality or type: "she is the epitome of elegance and taste".

    2. A summary of a written work; an abstract.

    Green Frog Productions, Ltd.

  • @GreenFrogVideos The first sums up the meaning of the Santa Fe in whole.

  • Can somebody tell me what "epidemy" (1:30) means? Sorry I'm not a native speaker and I can't find it in any dictionary.

  • I LOVE STUFF LIKE THIS!!!

  • When America was America.

  • @devildoc225 AGREED!!!!!

  • I love these trains especially the Santa Fe Super Chief.

  • This is some intense stuff

  • My dad worked for and retired from the Santa Fe Railroad..(was BNSF when he actually retired). I remember when they were trying to merge with the SP and repainted quite a few engines before the merger was approved. They called them the "Vomit Bonnets".

  • looks like it was a beautiful time to be alive. the music is stuninly beautiful, wow the warbonnets that were the cause for those on todays BNSF wow the funny yellow and blue schemes wow the smoke wow the fancy stations.

  • a great video love that santa fe wished some one had some old katy vids

  • Did I hear somebody mention the warbonnet paint scheme? The man most responsible for that being so famous around the country, especially in the eastern part of the country is Lawrence Cowan. H'e the son of Joshua Lionel Cowan. It was Larry that got the idea to convince the Santa Fe & New York Central to go along with EMD to put up 1/4 the cost of the dies for pdoduction of Lionel's model of the F3 in 1948. The rest is history.

  • the train at 0:30 is an amtrak train

  • Does anyone know why the lights on the engine at 0:30 are flickering? I thought it was just the film footage but none of the other engine's lights are doing that.

  • @estupido7490 Gyra-light installed I believe

  • @ GreenFrogVideos There were F9s still operating for Cliffs Resources hauling taconite up in Northern Minnesota on The Range. You guys should consider making a documentary about them. A well preserved piece of history, hidden in a remote part of the country.

  • i love Santa Fe "All The Way"!

  • this may sound like a stupid question but it has always intrigued me, at 2:55 you have the lead engine, then you have those 2 following cars, what are the 2 cars used for? like is it something to do with a bit of extra power?

i live in australia, and our diesels dont have them and ive never knew what they were used for

if anyone could tell me it would be much appreciated :)

  • the lead engine with the cab is called an 'A' Unit, and the ones with no cab are Called 'B' Units, and supply as much power as an 'A' unit, basically for longer trains

  • @TylerTrainz4449 thank you, much appreciated

  • @TheDemonicVampiro

    yep you got it

  • Gosh I love trains so much. My favorite engine is the EMD F7.

  • awesome. My favorite is the f40ph.

  • I wonder why some railroads use a 'mars light' on their engines and others don't ?

  • at 0:55 those alco PAs are smoking more than a steam engine!

  • Those PA's are epic in that warbonnet

  • HOLY SHIT 2:53 is that fast forwarded???

  • nono they could really go that fast

  • wow he had to have been doing at least 85-90.

  • CSX5851...the film at 2:53 was shot between La Junta, Co and Trinidad, Co...at that time speed limit = 100

  • Have always loved Emery's footage. Some wonderful scenes here. Really enjoyed your production on the Wabash- any plans on more?

  • We have one final Gulash Penn Central film to release.

After that we plan to re-release Gulashes Penn Central films on Blu-Ray re-scanned in HD!

All of Emery Gulashes original films are now distributed to organizations and groups around the Detroit area as far as we know.

    Green Frog Productions, Ltd.

  • great vid

  • Some of these scenes are just awesome... LIke the F7's whooshing past the Kansas windmill.. The Alcos smoking it up at :54, the Super Chief slinking through Cajon Pass, and then of course, the Super Chief blazing across Illinois at 2:54. Great stuff!!

  • @kmillard

Not the Super Chief but the El Capitan blazing across Illinois. Sure glad they made that and the other correction to the DVD from VHS ("transverses" not "transposes") the western and middle...

  • what is the name of this song

  • This music came from a pro sound library by the name of Bruton.

    Green Frog Productions, Ltd.

  • Yeah but do you know the title of this song?

  • Sorry, but we do not have that info!

    Green Frog Productions, Ltd.

  • @Brian4449 i know im taking the audio from this lol

  • i wish I would of thought more of it to have a good camera back then now its all history.

  • @StormyDuo, you, me and so many others. I live in the Buffalo, NY area. We have the central terminal which closed back in 1980 but wish their was more footage back the 1940's to 1960's.

  • I Wish i coulda been there when Santa Fe Roared on the rails!

  • I have Trainz Railroad Simulator 2006, and it includes some Santa Fe rolling stock and locomotives!

  • Tons of fun.

  • The stuff dreams are made of!

  • There will never be another railroad more mighty than the ATSF. It will never be forgotten. It will always live on. Its a shame it had to merge. The merge was the biggest mistake in railroad history IMO.

  • The Santa Fe loc from 1935 is the most beautiful painted loc in the world.

    try: treinbaan 019

  • Not to worry Andross, the Santa Fe is still here today in 2009. The BNSF. Big New Santa Fe.

  • Agreed NJW1973, gotta love BNSf standing for brand new santa fe! :) LONG LIVE ATSF!

  • Wow! Those Athearn F's look GREAT!!!!

  • Born in 1990 I was so happy to witness ATSF's final years before the merger with BN in 1995, Man ATSF in my books is the best railroad to ever role in the rails, and to this day in 2009 still does!!! LONG LIVE ATSF!

  • Awesome job!

  • I actually saw this on a tv channel and it looked interesting

  • im one of the bigest fan of santa fe, it is and always will be my number 1 railroad all time

  • I have another version of this dvd. The narration isnt the most professionial but you cant beat greenfrog's archives!

  • There is know railroad ever that can beat ATSF!!! Long live Santa Fe!

  • Nothing compares to the sight of a Santa Fe streamliner and warbonnet power at full throttle across the open plains.

  • @werksdesign acutally a Cabforward with a reefer block looks better

  • The color footage of those glorious Santa Fe warbonnets was just way too awesome. Extremely cool.....

  • wow cool music love santa fe super chief!!!

  • GOD bless the old ATSF I trully miss this old railroad

  • Why did the ATSF abandon the red silver warbonnet in favor of the blue yellow?

That shot at 2:54 he looks like he is really cranking, the car looked to be travelling @ highway speed, and the train just blows past ' em.

    Great video!

  • The Warbonnet scheme was initially developed for the ATSF's passenger trains. When the road transfered the operation of its passenger services to Amtrak in 1971, it mostly abandoned this paint scheme. That is, until the 1990's, when it was reintroduced onto its diesels. That of course, very unfortunately, ended shortly after the BNSF Merger. As for the car not being able to keep up with the train, some of the SF's top passenger trains traveled up to speeds of 95 mph.

  • I saw that on All Aboard in 1998! Did Green Frog Productions create All Aboard? Thanx fur sharin'!

  • Umweltverschmutzung der Extraklasse!

    Gott bewahre uns davor!

  • IT FULFILLS MY SOUL WITH JOY!

    God bless America!

  • fuck BN!!!!!!!!!!! ATSF 4 EVER!

  • This clip is a perfect fit to my collection of Maerklin HO F7 diesel locs,of which i like the Santa Fe F7 the most,it is a real classic,in the Maerklin programme since the early 1960ties!

  • I`m Chilean,i live in southamerica but my first electric train was a santa fè railroad, since those years i`ve been collecting HO trains and my fleet still continues being AT & SF. it was very sad to me when this company joint to B.N.

  • We still see SF name and colors on trains here in BN territory, northwest U.S.

  • I miss the old warbonnets. The Santa Fe was a great railroad to catch! Especally when they would go 90mph in New Mexico and Arizona.

  • How those trains already were so fast like TGV running at speeds like 160-190Km/h! Simply magnificent!

From now on I will collect all the Santa Fe motive power and rolling stock in HO scale besides the beloved Conrail and UP!

Santa Fe is in fact the the basis for high speed trains!

  • Wow, forgot how good the footage was on this and volume 2. Time to bring out the old video tapes.

  • What`s up with te BN power??????

  • BN had trackage rights over a lot of ATSF track.

  • i useta take the texas chief out of chicago to oklahoma city with my grandmother as a child. it was really cool before amtrak took over and we would leave out of the old dearborn street station.

  • "Santa Fe All the Way from the Windy City to LA"

  • I love the Santa Fe Railway. But it was sad to see it merge with the Burlington Northern Railway. But as many people say, it's "MERGER MANIA" with railroads now days.

  • I wish the camera man knew that there is at least one man in the UK who loves the Santa Fe PA's and stayed on those babies just a bit longer. Great posting thanks.

  • Man I miss the Santa Fe I remember seeing their SD-40-2 in blue in yellow in California in the 1980's. I was a kid at the time and thought the Santa Fe would always be around.

I wish I could see it again!

  • WOW i love the sound track and it gose so well with the sant fe

  • This music comes from a professional Music Library, they have cuts of music that you have to purchase the rights to use!

  • Which library if I may ask? I have a broadcasting license, so it would not be an issue with me! Please reply back. Thanks!

  • It is either spelled Bruton or Brutow, if I remember correctly.

    Green Frog Productions, Ltd.

  • What is the music in the background?

  • This is AWESOME!!! The good 'ol days of warbonnets, alcos, ect. This is how railroading should be!
