  • Dear god, this was 20 years ago!! I thought I'd imagined Nobby the sheep...very glad to discover I haven't gone crazy! :)

  • Loved, Loved, LOVED this show! <3

  • Michaela Strachan's legs... ahem.

  • that frances dodge looks a bit like jake humphrey

  • michaela is so sexy

  • look at her at the beggining reading the promp lol not even lookin at the camera. i used to love ghost train. i waited for years 4 it to come back on and it didnt. lol

  • oooohhh !! this must have been out of date before it was even made and who is mark stevens ?

  • Oh how i fancy michaela still! Since i was a about 6 and still do and im 25 now! lol

  • The show was indeed live, however, it did have pre recorded segments, like Skull for example (how do you think they got out the shower so spotless just seconds after being gunged)

Loved this show soooo much. I remember when Dannii minogue perfored on it and I had such a crush on her, and also, they came to Winchburgh in west lothian and went up winchburgh tip. they said it was planet zayJack. the final episode had loads of guests from the show. ITV are incapiable of making this now!

  • nobby nonced me

  • "So if you've got a name for Graham, the dancing flower, send it in.".

    .....How about Graham?!

  • Lol... I wonder how much Centre Parcs paid them for this blatant product placement.

  • Weird how the byker grove thing was on this even though its a bbc program :S

  • It was recorded from a different location every week, i don't think it was ever live

  • @RobbieS19 Actually it was always live.

  • Really, the editing seemed a bit to flawless to be live. Oh well. Cheer Dude.

  • Was Ghost Train a Live or a pre-recorded show ?

  • @retroseeker Live, it followed the mould of Number 73.

  • @retroseeker Live as I recall. Also, ITV companies took turns to produce it, depending on where in the UK the Ghost Train went. So, one week it could have been Tyne Tees, then Central, LWT or whoever.

  • @tsangari Yep, that's right. I remember seeing it in St. Andrews when it was STV's turn.

  • scary stuff

  • what year was this?

  • 1991

  • how did that bearded man next to nobby at 3:16 get on a kids tv show he looks scary! anyways gilbert is the best out of all the saturday morning puppets :) as for ghost train i was probably watching bbc 1

  • @s1977spw Wasn't the equivalent BBC Saturday morning tv show Parallel 9?

  • holy shit what was that sheep called.

He pissed me off so much

  • I believe he was Nobby the Sheep

  • i used to watch this lol it hasn't aged well

  • I imitated it for years afterwords...that's what having a crush on Mechelia does to the mind.

  • i remember round the bend and top banana. i loved all the shows in those days. i was born in 1981, and i have fond memories of shows like dodger bonzo and the rest (our house), telebugs, knock knock, and all those other shows, that no one remembers! oh, and t-bag as well

  • Ah the glory days of saturday morning kids TV. Feel kinda sad knowing that these days are now long gone. But at the same time i feel happy to know that i had the chance to watch quality TV like this back in the day. thank you for posting vinnielo1 :)))

  • Gotta mention the other week there was a funfair in our local park and the Ghost Train was identical the one in the show. I had to stop and take it in for a few moments. lol

  • I miss this show so much!!!!

  • This show used to have a pair of men known as The Mafia who used to BOO! someone.

  • One of them was Mark Heap.

  • Anyone remember Round the Bend? It was made by the Spitting Image people. Funny as fuck.

  • That show was legendary.

  • Every person i have spoke to doesnt remember it! or top banana! this video is ace tho. Kids tv was much better in those days.

  • Used to love this programme wish i could see it all , this must be the 1991 series shell suits where the in thing lol

  • Yep 1991, the titles of series one and two were longer and the music was different. And the show had a different logo.

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE THE GHOST TRAIN .

  • Plz can sum1 please upload Top Banana if they have it! I miss that show!

  • Holy Crap Georgina from grange hill, god I fanced the shit outter her, yeah I remember ghost train, didnt it have that crazy alien character that had all snot overhimself lol, good shows, im going to get all these old tv shows for my kids to watch, tv is bollocks these days, reality and make you a star shows is all thats ever on.

  • What TV-am told me they told me that Good Morning Britan did have things for kids but wacaday was part of TV-am and Hey Hey It's Saturday

  • nobby the sheep ha ha forgot all about him

  • oh my dog! Michela was hot!

  • How odd that on a show featuring all manner of ghosts & ghoulies, the scariest characters are those two hyperactive female presenters. And I'm pretty sure this show was sponsored by something. I can't think what though..

  • correct me if I'm wrong was Hey Hey It's Saturday part of Good Morning Britian or mainly TV-am cause I think it's the Good Morning Britian they used when TV-am finshed

  • Good Morning Britain was the weekday news/current affairs programme that also ended with the eggcups, so no, it wasn't.

  • But Good Morning Britian did have features for kids

  • Namely Wacaday.

  • also roland rat superstar as well that cute little smelly rat.

  • Good Morning Britain, Hey Hey and Wacaday were all made by TV-am. Effectively ITV went off air between 0600 and 0925 and was replaced by TV-am who had their own programmes, News service etc completely independent of ITV. All TV-am transmissions finished at 0925 with the Egg Cups.

  • no im not bulshitting.....its really true

  • Michaela Strachan was hot back then...lovely set of legs...

  • she still has got great legs i would suck on them for a week!

  • omg i was absoulty so scared of nobby and im still kinda am... my sis wuld make me watch ghost train every sat morning and i used to sceam the house door wen nobby came on the tv.....and due that tv i have the biggiest fear of sheep.and im being serious .. i hate nobby the sheep

  • Poor you. I feel sorry for you...If you're not bullshitting, of course...

  • Love the tv am egg cups!

  • Ace! Used to love watching Ghost Train!! Nobby was a brill puppet presenter! Omg - how old is that Kylie Minogue song now??

  • was it ghost train who them 2 blokes on it called 'the 2 marks?

  • Search for "Boo Ghost Train"

  • Ghost Train is legendary.

  • Oooooh-waaaaaaaaaa!

  • Damn....kids t.v was ace back then.We even got rid of our tele the other day cus theres nothing on anymore!

  • a rubber sheep in a shell suit.

    Ah, the memories!

  • half Welsh half Scouse then?

  • No way...Mark Stevens!!! I had such a huge cruch on him when he was in Neighbours!

Aww I loved kids tv back then..when the presenters didn't bring on a migraine.

  • Nobby and some other puppets were on 'The Weakest Link' recently - they all looked filthy, as if they'd not been cleaned in years. Eeugh!

  • ha ha Aliens will just be watching this right now on their channels lol!

  • its the elephant rap its the elephant rap.... WTF???????

  • I thought Ghost Train was total garbage to be honest. I mean, look at that 'Coming Up' sequence... The first item is about some chap called Mark Stevens singing live. Fair enough. But then it says "NEXT WEEK"! And the rest of the show's content looks empty to say the least!

No wonder I watched Going Live!

  • mate going live wasn't on when ghost train was on used to be off tv whilie tv put ghost train on u nit

  • selling children centre parks holidays. WRONG ITV

  • Wow, Michaela Stachan used to be quite fit.

  • ...I'm personally in shock. Fit is an understatement!!

  • Completely brilliant, as Micheala would say!!!! fudging awesome, one of the best things about my childhood was watching this show on saturday mornings! fantastic intro, fook knows what it was about but it seemed to make perfect sense as a kid. Nobby is a legend! 5.23 - 5.38 lol..."It's that girl from Grange Mountain!" hehehe!!

  • I used to love Ghost Train and Nobby was probably the coolest Saturday morning puppet! The first series of Ghost Train also had a studio segment called The Impro Show which featured Sandi Toksvig and another puppet called Brumble the Bear who not many people remember - he had a strong Birmingham accent was was operated and voiced by the same guy who worked and voiced Nobby.

I always remember how Gerard was listed as "Gerard" on the end credits and never by his real name.

  • I used to wonder about that too. Thought he might've had a stage name like Lulu, Abigail etc.

  • Hey just found the episode it's under "Dannii Minogue 1991 saturday morning show"! Great!!!

  • This was the best Saturday morning show ever!!!! I had a whole episode recorded with Scoody-Doo featuring an animated Vincent Price and Skull!! Don't know what happened to it???? Great times!!!

  • It's wierd, I never saw any of this I always watched Going live, I only started watching ITV when it finished (so I watched Saturday Disney)

  • If you walk over Camden bridge you can see those eggcups still on the studio roof!!!I saw them last year but there all stained and weather worn now.

  • haha Nobby the Sheep! Loved those dancing flowers!!!

  • ha nobby i'd forgotten bout him lol man werent we easily amused

  • I love ghost train and frances she was sexy at the time but i really like the music at the begin cool

  • I use to love that game show 'Top Banana' I've been looking all over Youtube for clips of it but no luck.

    I miss those days. :(

  • Yeah I've just been looking for Top Banana too.

It was hosted by Pat Sharp, right?

I can't remember anything about the show apart from the fact that you had to spin a wheel that had different symbols on it.

  • I like Michaela - she seems so cool.

  • never thought id see this again. oh memories...

  • Not that I'm complaining, but did Michaela do nothing else but show her legs off on every single programme she was on?!

  • NOBBBYYYYYYYYYYY!

I remeber this. I remeber Gerrard the Alien as well!

  • Do you mean Gilbert the Alien, from Get Fresh with Gaz Top?

  • a little scary at the time. but the TV AM music does it for me, remembering it again. thx.

  • fantastic clip.. any ideas what happened to frances? i did a search online but i dot think she did anything else tv wise after this..

  • dumpledown farm! i wana watch that!

  • HOW I need help, does anyone rmeber a show, i think it was on itv, and it was something to do with like rats who lived in a dump...i think it wwas puppets...mabey it was on this show im not sure but please let me know!

  • trap door?

  • Round The Bend?

  • it was roland the rat im sure, they had like a clapping machine and a crocodile and lived in the sewer.

  • yes yes yes yes yes, i remember too!! like a crocodile too, n a potato that read the news?? and theres a nother one wit a green guy???

  • Its Round The Bend no doubt about it. PS im replying to an old comment.

  • your ace x

  • how long was this show?

  • The Reason why they stopped showin this show is because ITV had a thin where they done 3 years of a show then turned it over 2 somethin else ITV had the best Kidz Tv shows bck in the Day Dame!

  • The title sequence (along with loads of title sequences from back in the day) has massive production values!

I got to visit the Ghost Train on the episode prior to the last ever one. Good times

  • Of course back in the 80s and early 90s Saturday morning was one of the most bitter ratings wars between the BBC and ITV. Both invested heavily in the slot and the result was shows with big ideas and big production values. Check out the clips of No. 73 too.

  • This Show was unreal, there is so much Shit on TV 4 little kinds the missed a great show Brin bck Ghost Train

  • class show worth getting up for. Hey Hey its Saturday was class as was Ghost Train. Todays kids dont know what they are missing if i controled ITV it would be great for all.

  • i must be the only person from my friends who has heard of this, great into! i even remeber the tvam eggs!

  • Argh those eggcups!!!!That sent a shiver down my spine and Ghost Train...I have a blue Ghost Train T-Shirt somewhere!!!I think I was 12 at this time.Amazing brilliant.....thanx

  • I'm so glad I found this! No-one ever remembers the ghost train when I tell them!

  • how could i have 4gotten those egg cups lol

  • I want a time machine. I want to go back and live a month back then. I was 7 in 1991 and tv then was bliss. I would take a DVD recorder with me and tape like mad.

  • blatant center-parks advertising platform :) we porr kids didn't know back then our little minds were being programmed...and thats what your get if you cross breed Lilly Savage with a sheep...

  • What ever happened to Nobby. He was cool

  • Unfortunately he died in a house fire in 1995.

  • Hey we can clone sheeps now.

    Bring back nobby the sheep.

  • i remember this I was well pissed off when it finished :(

  • Well i never seen the sunday version if u could upload it inculding the gane the haunted dungeon it was called

  • I actually REMEMBER this edition! (Not the start, though.) WOW! Thank YOU! What a wonderfully nostalgic upload! I remember this edition in which they went to Center Parks and this edition was made by Anglia. (Ghost Train was a programme made by good old ITV-in-the-regions, something you'd NEVER get nowadays.)

  • she likes her little shorts dosent she! wow she is lovely!

  • Michaela Strachan... i definitely would!

  • ahh todays tv is all well and good for kids.. but ot to sound bias but u stilcant beat 80s early 90s tv.. lmao.. mafia.. custard pie game.. my cousin was gunna go on that.. but it finished.

  • Ms Strachan, was too young to realise it then, but you would bang her something shockin still!

  • i have a question. did michaela always do that at the end of every show? meaning the thing with the elephant?

  • Looks like she is desperately trying to fill the last few minutes of the TVam's slot with very little to say.

  • I'm I just imagining this, or did nobby used to wear a Gun N Roses jacket all the time? I've vague memories of some rocker being on the show too, it wasnt Axl Rose was it!?

  • Nobby the sheep!

  • They do it on purpose Lynne!

  • why did this stop showing this on tv

  • never mind I just looked it up on wikipedia

  • how did this show work specifically?

    meaning each individual episode

  • 3 series in total 1989,1990 and 1991. There was also a Sunday edition which was basically a generic magazine show broadcast from Border.

It was a very popular show and even had its own merchandise in shops. Despite this it cost a fortune to make, with multiple location shoots, and some sequences having to be filmed through the week and inserted into the main show because of special effects etc. In the end it suffered the same fate as No. 73(same concept) and just got too expensive to make.

  • How many series were there? I'm sure there were 3 (1989 to 1991). I may be wrong though!

  • Part 3...

On the very last episode Barry Mafia dupes the gang once more (he offers a truce) and steals the Ghost Train and banishes Frances forever on the plabet Zajax (which they had previously visited). End of story, no coming back.

  • Right Part 2:

They meet up with Nobby in a field (from where the first ep. was broadcast IIRC) and find Gerrard lurking in the shower on the Ghost Train (he was actually an unwilling slave of Barry Mafia)

Barry then spent every ep. trying to steal the Ghost Train back. Barry succeeds (with the help of a rather treacherous Nobby) in series 2 and keeps possesion for about half of series 3 before Nobby betrays him.

  • Right the premise was thus:

Frances actually dated Barry for a while, Barry duped Frances grandmother to giving him the Ghost Train. She found out dumped Barry and along with Sabra and Paul stole the Ghost Train (Very first episode).

  • Yeah, I remember the two Marks! Did Barry Maffia not have a wife called Mave or something? (Im sure she appeared a lot in the 1991 series.)

How did Gerard fit into things? I know that Frances apparantly inherited the ghost train and Barry Maffia always tried to pinch it!

  • I cannot remember Mave? I know they introduced Merlin (Barry's half brother) and M- love interest for Mark Saban.

They also introduced 'Amanda' too, love interest for Mark Heap. Amanda was supposedy Frances best friend from School, we meet her early in the third series where she converts to Barry to be with Mark.

  • The 2 presenters are Frances Dodge and Sabra Williams. The other (male) presenter was "Gerard".

  • Gerrard was played by Angelo Abela who was also one of the shows producers and has worked on a raft of kids TV shows including My Parents are Aliens.

In series 1 and 2 they were joined by Paul J Medford cast as Frances best friend.

The show also gave us Mark Heap who played one of the henchmen of "the evil Barry Mafia".

  • I used to love this!

  • Nobby the Sheep! AHA! I'd forgotten all of this.

  • who died of an asthma attack?

  • Tell me what you mean by watersports?

Well, it's when people relieve themselves on each other, Alan.

  • oh rememebr it well i wonder what happened to frances and who was other girl with black hair? games where fun on it though!

  • she died of an astma attack

  • Tell me your joking!!

  • no it looks like charlotte colman from 4 weddings who died bout 4/5 years ago of a massive astma attack. i will check imdb just in cause im wrong

  • panic over its not her her name is frances dodge and shes alive and well sorry for the shock

  • Lol at the poem

  • OMG, that has just taken me right back! I used to Looovvee that programme! Thanx for uploading it.

  • Who are the two les.. er i mean ladies!!

  • When i saw this my memories came flooding back! i could not remember the ghost train intro or programme at all until now! :) i agree with pipoo1 this IS a treat :)

  • Do you think Anglia's producers had shares in Centre Parks?

I can't ever remember any other episode of Ghost Train where they name checked the location.

  • What a treat this is.

  • I've now also uploaded 'Boo!' from Ghost Train.
