I love the Impala name but this is a really cheap car, not saying its crap or anything but my other GMs and Fords are better than this. Sure hope GM gets their act together and put the G8 platform and use it as the next impala. If they do, the impala will live on again instead of being a bargain bin type car or fleet rental car people could care less of.

I just bought a used 2009 LTZ and I love it, but this car needs a redesign...NOW! But it's ok, your costumer base is only moving to Taurus. So I guess GM is OK with loosing customers. Could they at least but the Malibus 6 speed in it? I mean jesus christ GM.

this review is pure opinion, and pure lies. The Camry, and accord are far better in every way than this impala.Camry/Accord are made in America, Impala is not.Camry/Accord have soft touch dash boards, Impala uses the same material as Rubbermaid trash cans. Camry/Accord have three times the short/long term reliability over the Impala. And the Impala uses a column shifter! I MEAN REALLY?? BROUHAHA, CHEVY FAILS

@Dustin91 Actually Dustin, I have driven the Impala. In-fact I have driven two, my grandparents have a 2008 Maroon Impala with the center shifter. I have also driven my grandfathers brothers Black Impala with nearly all feature and extra options. Both fail miserably in terms of quality, reliability, resale value. Why am I even explaining this; FACT is the Impala sucks and It is made in Canada. Our Camry was made in America.

i agree that it is a "high-end car" if you compare it to the Cadillac DTS. Which is basically this car for $20 grand more.

And the reliability of those cars is fantastic, compared to those shitty GM cars (I have to say though that some cadillacs, buicks and chevys are nice, but not this one).

The camry, accord, mazda 6, ford fusion are all great cars, but this one is just terrible.

@J40d Colum Shifter, where do you live, under a rock? The floor shifter has been a standard feature in the Non fleet Impalas since 2006, and the Colum shifter has been the optional feature. Read about what you talk about before you talk about it.

Is the 2009 Impala going to have a better engine? I admit that moving up tp a base hp rating of 211 is better than the 180 in the 3.4 L 2005 model. But 211 in today's world is still pretty low. I have one and she moves great. But if it's not going to have gas mileage like a camry or accord, then it might as well have better performance. Why sacrifice both?
