Actually, it hasn't any cards. And it's good, believe me. It's not what the trailer makes it seem. The animation is good and the storyline is very interesting. I was afraid of it being a piece of crap, but it isn't. It has riddles and mistery. I really like it.
Even though is clear that they took many popular concepts from videogames: Resident Evil, Tmb Raider and Even Warcraft...this show is really entertaining.
Dude. 'Action scenes: nice'? Are you kidding me? Plot line not cliche? This is, by far, the most generic show ever, it's a mixture of witch, pokemon and indiana jones. I don't know how many different anime have you watched but they must have been horrible if Huntik beats most of them. I'm not saying that Huntik is bad- it probably does very well in the target age group, but seriously, if you want a REALLY good, non-anime show, watch 'Avatar the last airbender'.
Well, let's see...When I say 'nice action' scenes, I mean a nice balance of action and movement on the screen, not moving lines in the back which are supposed to give me an idea of movement (which is TYPICAL anime action). Huntik does this some times, but when the human characters fight, it's done rather nicely.
Anime action is very formulaic and very static ( For budget reasons no doubt). Once you've seen Gundam, Kenshin, Pokemon, DBZ, you've pretty much seen all the action styles.
Naruto comes out with some fresh action styles that I have yet to see copied from anywhere. Heat Guy J is also stunning when it comes to action and the reason is because they're different from the norms.
Actually I have seen Avatar. =)
It's a very good show in some aspects, but it lacks realism. 5 kids saving the world from an evil empire? I think Huntik is more realistic because although the characters are old enough (17ish), they still rely on the professionals, like Dante and Zahlia to win.
So, Huntik is a very realistic show and I love it for it's realism. Not for it's cheesy marketable monsters. (The creators had to put that in or else their show would never air). 10 year olds don't save the day. No cheap culture jokes. No "adults are evil or don't know anything." It just doesn't have the cheapness that so many cartoons have these days.

Dude, if you think that 4 young people resolving the worlds well known mysteries simply by walking around empty European cities, and thinking for 10 minutes is realistic, then I don't know in what kind of world do you live in. The fact that this show takes place in the 'real' world, does not make it realistic, quite the opposite, all the unrealistic action (like reaching some kind of illusionary island) stands out even more.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
As for the action scenes- I'm not complaining about the movement itself- it's pretty smooth. It's the choreography and planning of the action scenes that is poor.
And it's not true that if you've seen gundam, kenshin and dbz you have seen it all. These show have quite similar action scenes styles, there is a lot more to see.
It's called an imagination... Almost all anime shows are like that so I don't know what your talk about... Shows like Avatar are better? All you do is call air or crap and it comes out? Not much different from Huntik.
Zuziako, calm down buddy, it's a cartoon, not a reality show. Entertainment can be fantasy, as long as it conforms to it's own rules it's all right. just noticed that this show even got some adults involved and that's when you know the creators respect their audience. =)
Dunno if Zuziako will notice that you replied to his comment. I think you may have clicked mine on accident.
But kind of in response to your first reply: I never watched this show, so it's not fair for me to comment against it, but I'm really biased against 4kids and their outrageous censorship policies and views on what is appropriate for children. Also, shows from them all use the same stock music and same bad voice actors.
Aside from shitty acting, something about these 4kids shows don't seem very genuine. I don't like shows that seem like they were cooked up in a board room or something. I prefer to watch what shows that don't really try as hard to appeal to an audience, but try hard to appeal to the guy who created it.
lol. That's exactly why I like it! (except for the monster marketing part). This show definitely appeals to me and I know I'm not in the target range.
Was it really created by 4kids? I thought it was done by a different company.
@RavenoftheNightrays Huntik is still on! That means they stopped airing it where I live T_T.

Another cliché "anime" from 4kids.
ninjamatic5000 3 years ago
Actually Huntik doesn't copy much of anime except for bearing a slightly similar visual style.
The main characters are much older, dialog:good, static scenes:ok. Action scenes:nice.
The plotline for episodes is good and not very cliche, which makes it particularly interesting to watch.
There are some cheesy monsters, but if you look past, it won't disappoint.
Overall, I think it's better than most anime I've watched (and I've watched A LOT of anime).
You should give this one a try. =)

BTW, I don't think they're trying to copy Indiana Jones. It's more of a tribute to the action/adventure genre that Huntik knows its borrowing from.
lol, long post, sorry but I hope I explained my point on why I think this show rocks. =)
