Try applying just enough pressure so that you're tail is high, but that your nose doesn't hit the ground. It's not good to hit your tail or nose on the ground for a manual (or similiar trick).

for people who need help with nose manualing-

nose manualing:just put your front foot 1in. away from the edge, then put your back foot a little bit past the middle of the tail.like what he did above^. then, raise your back foot and you will start manualing.try to balance and stay as long as you can. remember, your board will follow your feet. keep on practicing and you will manual for a long time

Just keep trying it over and over... measuring how far you go by using the lines in the sidewalk. Balance is something that comes with practice, it can't really be taught over the internet. Just use the lines in the sidewalk to measure how far you go each try and you'll be able to manual as far as you want in no time.

Use sidewalk blocks to measure your improvement. It sounds a little silly, but it really works. start off manualling one sidewalk block, then 2, then 10... eventually you will be manualling city blocks.
