@cudaplaya12 no way did they suck but you cant say they havent declined since then, although the same has happened to all bands their age, i saw them a few years back and they where awesome. Personally though i think they peaked with pyromania, it had the perfect mix of hard rock and melody, bar a few tracks hysteria was just a pop album which they wrote just to conform to the times.
All u people saying Phil sucks well who's in a rock band A dam good one I might add u or him how can u say he sucks? What's ur definition of good then? I'm pretty positive none* of u can play like any of them so chill with Phil sucks
Listen to how shitty Phil's solo sounds in this. Yes he has speed, but that's all he has. It sounds like his picking hand is barely connecting with his fretting hand, and the notes have no definition to them. Willis was better even though he didn't shred. He was a better songwriter + better tone. He influenced a lot of people like Dimebag and Paul Gilbert. His playing on the first DL album is amazing.
Unbelievably a great performence! Def Leppard where such a kick ass band. Too bad they sucked ass after this, and really fucking sucked after Steve's death.
@OnTheRunSinceBirth to me phil never suited this band, they could have done a lot better, pete willis wrote this song, and the better ones off pyromania
@vanhalen515084 Sorry dude I disagree. The stats say otherwise...yes Pete Willis was great but he was a drunk and deserved to get fired. The band did just fine with Phil Collen even after Pyromania. I saw them this week in Charlotte with Heart and they still rock! What has Pete done lately??? Enough said.

@TheJimsky143 it has been well known that his left arm was severed in an automobile accident he had with his brand new Corvette, but I assume you are a young person.
@ultrachasersfan it was industrialized by assholes that think that singers and entertainers need to shock the audience with stupid costumes and faggot dancers.
this is probably my favorite DL song! I've only heard it played live once, way back on the Pyromania tour. They should listen to fans and play this next tour!
I feel bad for kids growing up today, they have no new decent rock music to listen to unless they're willing to go back at least until the early '90s. Pretty much all crap. And this isn't because I'm getting old, I think it lacks balls, it isn't creative or loud ENOUGH.
My first introduction to Def Leppard was when I was only 14 and it was the Pyromania album. The song Billy's got a gun is the song that made them my favorite group and continues to be my favorite group even though I am 42 yr. old now. I finally got to go to one of their concerts a few years and it was every bit as awesome as I thought it would be. My 20 yr. old daughter loves to remind me that I am forever stuck in the 80's and I consider that a compliment LOL!
@MultiPhil2009 Funny, your comment comes off as arrogant idiocy. Ellliot fronts a band that has sold over 70 million albums. His band is one of only 5 that has released two albums (Pyromania and Hysteria) that have sold over 10 million units (the other bands to have done this are: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Van Halen,... pretty good company). The band he's in outsold competitors like U2, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and Aerosmith. If he's arrogant, he's more entitled to be than you are.
I was 18 when this album come out.. One awesome album that got me in lot's of trouble :) Most remember Foolin rock of ages but I thin every song on this album was good stuff..
Joe Elliot's voice was amazing. Unfortunately, he has lost his edge. But he is older, and he has been screaming for over thirty years. No matter what, Def Leppard was unbeatable. They rocked hard and mighty! Still appreciate them for all they have given to the music world. ROCK ON!
Sounds better than the lp version without all those cheesy synths. As much as Mutt Lange's production helped their sound then, it holds them back nowadays. If you were around then, you can appreciate it for what it meant to you in your youth, but it dates them now. I can't even listen to Hysteria. Never could. They sound much ballsier just playing without being overproduced.
Def Leppard was the first concert I had ever seen. I was only 15 at the time, but all I remember was that it was the greatest thing I've ever seen. I saw them again when I was 40 and thought they still rocked! Truly one of the greatest bands ever!
joe elliot's vocals are decent but not great. it's a shame he really can't hit high notes as the record would have you believe. saw these guys several times and unfortunately he really can't do hit high notes well ...kinda like bon jovi. still a huge fan but am a little disappointed. ended up enjoying bryan adams set better as his voice is still quite crisp. was too young to check out an 80s gig but if this is how they sounded, kinda glad i missed it.
It really is amazing to hear Joe sounding so crisp, and Steve on top of his game. Had Steve not gone, I wonder how much farther they would have gone. As it stands for me, I lost hope after Hysteria. Slang was an honorable try, but they lost so much integrity with Steve.
Actually, I meant 4:02- 4:06- It's so sloppy it's pathetic- If you don't agree you need to get your hearing checked and learn a little about fluid guitar playing. Usually Phil plays consistent, but sloppy on quite a few occassions!
You're right, actually it's an awesome video overall. Sorry, if I seemed so critical, I guess my 'perfectionist mentallity" gets in the way sometimes. I'll admit I screw on occasion too- (LOL) I mean screw Up!
At least I can admit I make mistakes. Why don't you elaborate on what you think about Phil's solo? That's what the comment section is for , Right? "Giving our opinion" or maybe I am wrong on that too?
Well it is a fact that Joe Elliott always tried to get Rick Allen to dumb down his drum tracks, Rick was an amazing drummer when he had both limbs, much better than most people know
call me crazy but i would love to see them do a show playing just the songs on the first two records. the set list would go: every song on the first two records cause they kick fucking ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Steve Clark is a dinosaur rock guitar player for sure. Attitude, balls, tone, creative, and a fucking monster rock star stage presence. They don't make em like that anymore.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Amazing huh? What real live music can sound like without all the keyboards mixed in. I wonder if Joe ever listens to his old concerts and realizes how much he has lost. If he did, I think he'd retire.
Def Leppard in 1983 was a powerful band, today they're worse than a good Def Leppard tribute band. Music is watered down, and Joe can't sing anymore. They disgrace their old selfs every night now.
That was a bit harsh. Yea he's lost some as most do over the years depending on their style, but it's still Def Leppard. You know of a better rock band today?
I'd want to relive my glory years, and so would you. Walk a mile in their shoes...
I love this song. It's always been a favorite of mine. It really rocks! I do enjoy watching these videos of early live performances. I think it's so cool how good they were at such a young age. I think they were great back then and just got better and better as they got older. Def Leppard rocks and I don't care what anyone else says.
i love every song on pyro, actually i love every lep song ive ever heard, and i could listen [and commonly do] to the same lep album over and over again, you never get burned out on lep, they ROCK
I love how Joe says "Ok. It's from our latest and greatest album, Pyromania." Little did he know their next album, Hysteria would be the phenomena that would over shadow Pyro, as far as how well it sold anyway. I'm just like you. I love every Def Leppard song I've ever heard. I simply can't pick a favorite one. I'll hear one and think it's my favorite. Then I hear another and think the same thing. Like you said, you don't ever get burnt out on them. They're just too awesome!
They are the original "boy band" IMO. Only teenagers when they released On Through The Night (which rawks BTW). Few bands were talented beyond their years like Def Lep.
You sure are right about that. I never thought about it until I started watching these old videos. I see these and think they were just kids when they began! I never realized it even though I've listened to them since they came out with OTTN. It didn't hit me though how young I was too when I began listening to them b/c I'm about the same age! Guess I was just a kid too huh? LOL To have began at such a young age, gone thru all they've gone thru, and remain top artists is a truly amazing feat!!
Back on the Hysteria Tour and Adrenalize Tour they didn't play Billy's Got a Gun. They also didn't play Mirror Mirror on those tours. Their finally playin Mirror Mirror again. I admit i haven't seen them in concert since '92
I'm sure they played Billy's Gotta Gun when I saw them last year. I've heard them play this during more than one concert. I'm pretty sure the Adrenalize Tour was the one time they came to Indy that I've not gone in 20 years or so if I'm remembering right. I can't remember at exactly which concert they played what, but I do remember Billy's Gotta Gun during last summer because my neice hadn't heard it before. She was 12 then and it was her first Def Lep concert. She liked it though!
Yeah i just pulled up their playlist from Aug. of 1992 and Billy's not on their playlist. I saw them back to back nights in Toledo in 92 and they didn't play it. It's great to see them playin Billy and Mirror Mirror again. Their concerts in 1983 sold out so quickly it was very difficult to get tickets
in the past 4 years i've seen them 5 times and havent heard them play this. but i live in boston so they could have very well played this in other shows. but its badass and they should play it every night!

At least I can admit I make mistakes. Why don't you elaborate on what you think about Phil's solo? That's what the comment section is for , Right? "Giving our opinion" or maybe I am wrong on that too?

i don't know about anybody else but i noticed that all the def leppard drumming parts were sub consciously written for a one armed drummer.
thecommentking1989 2 years ago
yeah, well he doesn't have one arm here now does he?
lesabre123 2 years ago
Well it is a fact that Joe Elliott always tried to get Rick Allen to dumb down his drum tracks, Rick was an amazing drummer when he had both limbs, much better than most people know
TheYostinator 2 years ago
he is an even better drummer now that he has one arm. i think joe knew what was going to happen before it happened

call me crazy but i would love to see them do a show playing just the songs on the first two records. the set list would go: every song on the first two records cause they kick fucking ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!
armand867 2 years ago 2
this is from their 3rd record.
lesabre123 2 years ago
yeah i know its off pyromania, i was just saying it would be awesome to hear the very early stuff,
armand867 2 years ago
Even if they tuned 3 tones down Joe Elliot couldn't sing their early stuff well.
Not his fault. He was singing on his limit then. Now it's been 26 years.
(Crap... 26 friggin' years... time flies...)

Steve Clark is a dinosaur rock guitar player for sure. Attitude, balls, tone, creative, and a fucking monster rock star stage presence. They don't make em like that anymore.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Amazing huh? What real live music can sound like without all the keyboards mixed in. I wonder if Joe ever listens to his old concerts and realizes how much he has lost. If he did, I think he'd retire.
Def Leppard in 1983 was a powerful band, today they're worse than a good Def Leppard tribute band. Music is watered down, and Joe can't sing anymore. They disgrace their old selfs every night now.
coz3001 3 years ago
That was a bit harsh. Yea he's lost some as most do over the years depending on their style, but it's still Def Leppard. You know of a better rock band today?
I'd want to relive my glory years, and so would you. Walk a mile in their shoes...
crankitup6969 3 years ago 9
@crankitup6969 STEEL PANTHER are actually better...
supertenor 1 year ago
Come on dude, no tribute band even compares. Ya Joe has lost a bit from screaming for so long, it happens. You are way over negative.

This song should have been a top hit for them.
Maybe they should have saved it for the next album.... oops that was Hysteria !!
Maybe for the next one.... Love these guys...
They are the best and still together...

I love this song. It's always been a favorite of mine. It really rocks! I do enjoy watching these videos of early live performances. I think it's so cool how good they were at such a young age. I think they were great back then and just got better and better as they got older. Def Leppard rocks and I don't care what anyone else says.

i love every song on pyro, actually i love every lep song ive ever heard, and i could listen [and commonly do] to the same lep album over and over again, you never get burned out on lep, they ROCK
brandyismyname 3 years ago 4
I love how Joe says "Ok. It's from our latest and greatest album, Pyromania." Little did he know their next album, Hysteria would be the phenomena that would over shadow Pyro, as far as how well it sold anyway. I'm just like you. I love every Def Leppard song I've ever heard. I simply can't pick a favorite one. I'll hear one and think it's my favorite. Then I hear another and think the same thing. Like you said, you don't ever get burnt out on them. They're just too awesome!

Bigschwang 3 years ago
They are the original "boy band" IMO. Only teenagers when they released On Through The Night (which rawks BTW). Few bands were talented beyond their years like Def Lep.
jdeertick 3 years ago 5
You sure are right about that. I never thought about it until I started watching these old videos. I see these and think they were just kids when they began! I never realized it even though I've listened to them since they came out with OTTN. It didn't hit me though how young I was too when I began listening to them b/c I'm about the same age! Guess I was just a kid too huh? LOL To have began at such a young age, gone thru all they've gone thru, and remain top artists is a truly amazing feat!!

steve clark is so good!!!!!!

is this on dvd !?! i gotta get it !?!?

fuck these guys are tight live! steve clark had an incredible feel for what riffs and chords went with their sound (round 3.45 is a perfect example)
mkeysou812 3 years ago 3
They do still play this. Been to a concert recently?
interveningangel 3 years ago 3
Back on the Hysteria Tour and Adrenalize Tour they didn't play Billy's Got a Gun. They also didn't play Mirror Mirror on those tours. Their finally playin Mirror Mirror again. I admit i haven't seen them in concert since '92
halenfanatic 3 years ago
I'm sure they played Billy's Gotta Gun when I saw them last year. I've heard them play this during more than one concert. I'm pretty sure the Adrenalize Tour was the one time they came to Indy that I've not gone in 20 years or so if I'm remembering right. I can't remember at exactly which concert they played what, but I do remember Billy's Gotta Gun during last summer because my neice hadn't heard it before. She was 12 then and it was her first Def Lep concert. She liked it though!
interveningangel 3 years ago
Yeah i just pulled up their playlist from Aug. of 1992 and Billy's not on their playlist. I saw them back to back nights in Toledo in 92 and they didn't play it. It's great to see them playin Billy and Mirror Mirror again. Their concerts in 1983 sold out so quickly it was very difficult to get tickets
halenfanatic 3 years ago
in the past 4 years i've seen them 5 times and havent heard them play this. but i live in boston so they could have very well played this in other shows. but its badass and they should play it every night!
