  • I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a shit film.

  • 9 it is not we ask the questions and we get answers 9999 ja vole heir obles

  • 0:21 Well aliens sure drive like shit.

  • Why do flying saucers always only land in major city's :P.

  • why do alien space ship always have inpenetrable shields and we're stuck with crappy weapons.. >.<

  • i remeber this movie when i was 7 years old in june 1991 and it was imaginative film my cbs station aired it on early saturday morning

  • there is only 1 obvious flaw with this movie... I dont think the aliens have enough ships to suicide kill every single major building across the world. Just keep building new buildings, they will run outta ships soon!

  • Why are the aliens such terrible pilots? They always seem to be crashing.

  • GREAT MOVIE!!! \m/

  • The alien voice is done by Paul Frees, the famous voice artist

  • i saw a flying saucer once, my wife threw it at me! rim shot please!

  • Comment removed

  • @carycomic1 lol yeah but wasnt that like a spoof movie?

  • I'd recommend this to all sci-fi fans. You can have fun counting the number of ideas/scenes from this film that were used in Independence Day. And the leading lady is hot!

  • 1. Get stock footage of two airplanes colliding

    2. Add UFO and ray effects in post

    3. INSTANT SCI-FI REALISM

  • 0:29 Don't you just LOVE . . . the sound of flying saucer death rays??

  • Space Invaders

  • МИР ТРУД МАЙ ЛЕНИН

  • gotta love that gap before the announcer said 'Moscow', like 'they're attacking Moscow, if you care about about that godless Communist state' and instead of using a famous landmark like St. Basil's Cathedral they use a random building.

  • THOSE WERE THE DAYS!!!!.....they just don't makem like that anymore.

  • Watched all these movies when I was a kid, every Saturday afternoon. Seemed they were gonna show up any day then, still waiting!!!!!!

  • Back then this was there "Avatar".

  • this was an excellent movie....it also was one of orson welles'favorites....i'm in good company...

  • i think the alien voice is paul frees

  • I give up everyone knows Mars Attacks parodied this.

  • I love the old black and white sci-fi movies !Earth vs. the Flying Saucers,Invaders from Mars,War of the Worlds and This Island Earth. All great movies from the 50's.And lets not forget Them! and Deadly Mantis two of my favorite big bug movies.

  • There are good- B- moives out there. There -B-ppl to like a your tuber like thereptube is a pedo.

  • 7 people encountered the flying saucers.

  • now i can see where ID4 got its inspiration.

  • LOVE THE TITLES BACK IN THE 50'S

  • chuck norris, the earth needs you!

  • This is a lot better than 'V', that's for sure.

  • prodigy sampled the siren for "serial thrilla"

  • I got the poster t-shirt :)

  • if aliens do take over the world i hope they have better effects than thisXD

  • The bldg. whose outline they flash to represent "Moscow" in this trailer is the Smithsonian "Castle" on the Mall in D.C.

  • Sci-Fi movies in the 50's were among the best, most imaginative ever made. This one was one of the most entertaining of the decade. I've seen it many times, and I never tire of it.

  • @ftsjr is there anywhere online i could view it?

  • @77hiphopaintdead77 I don't know where you can see it online, but keep an eye on TCMs schedule. They run it every now and then.

  • @ftsjr k thx =)

  • @ftsjr great movie...have it on dvd with extras.....

  • I prefer these older haryhausen movies to clash of the titans and sinbad.

  • I saw this movie last week, very good

  • retared ufos

  • I loved this as a kid, back then this was cool special effects, I couldn't wait for saturday mornings to come to watch chiller theatre.

  • Awesome, I wish they made movies like this nowadays instead of focusing solely on the special effects.

  • @DropDBassist amen!Too much special effects and not enough plot and dialogue....people did say Battle LA was good though....

  • The voices of the aliens are just great!

  • Harryhausen's effects were WAY ahead of it's time. Marlowe did a great job in this film as Dr. Russell Marvin...logical plot (as best as it could be) and intelligent script. Good acting, GREAT special effectgs. Very good stuff for he 50's.

  • Zombies from Outer Space in Flying Saucers

  • looks like suicide bombers hijacked the UFOs

  • We're no match for those for those flying saucers!

  • So this was like the Avatar of the fifties?

  • @coppurt Nope, it was crap then too. If you want to see the "Avatar" of the fifties then check out Forbidden Planet.

  • Classic! =D

  • Better than any Will Smith garbage, that's for sure.

  • @flapdoodle64

    independance day = ASS

  • @flapdoodle64 no way, ID4 was an awsome movie!

  • The scenes where the saucers crash into the Penatgon and the Capital, are one of the coolest and most underated special effects ever captured on film.

  • Fantastic movie.

  • lol. The typical hollywood-plot:

The world is under attack. What a boring plot.

  • @WolYou you are an ass, obviously your not a fan of special effects. you would probably think a tsunami is boring. loser.

  • considering this the 50's this movie is incredible its na artform

  • ah, the classics - they never die.

  • This movie is old, but a lot better than any of that crap Will Smith is making now.

  • nice :) when is this movie starting in the cinemas?

  • Get the DVD, its only 7 bucks.

  • dont worry you will be able to watch it as soon aS you be in 1956

  • =D how can I do that? my calendar says its 2010 :(

  • speaking to you from THOUSANDS OF MILES beyond your planet!

  • To the poster,

To relate this film to the Communists is total idiocy. There is no such reference to them in this film or to the myth of "Communist Paranoia" . If you are so fould and stupid as to thin they were nice people, ask Prime Minister Nagy as one example.

  • I can't think of a better 1950s 'flying saucer' style science-fiction flick than this one .. and I've seen / own my fair share of them all. This one is all class !! 10/10. Wish I could get a DVD copy for my own. Great work, VespaGS !!

  • A Science fiction film built on the myth of Roswell and the supposed 'saucer' crash, in this film you see the male lead actor playing a rocket scientist, stock footage is used of a real German V2 rocket, the irony is, the 'saucer' story was in part a cover to hide the nefarious dealings of a secret mission to smuggle into the US 1600+ Nazi scientists and mind scientists after WWII under something called Operation "PAPERCLIP" which they did, media and film crystallized the myth even to this day.

  • Don't worry, one of our viruses will kill 'em

    Damn disease ridden humans

  • HAARP took care of 'em...

  • Funny how most of the aliens of the '50s and '60s sounded like Paul Frees.

  • That's Hugh Marlowe. Just six years earlier he starred in "All About Eve" with Bette Davis.

  • Hugh Marlowe

Was he also in the ealy 50's TV show " I Led three Lives" about 'those dirty communies" ?

  • Those "commies" were dirty and worthy of death. To think otherwise is to fail to care about the deaths of many thousands at their hands. You are a damnable fool!

  • I loved the show and his paranoid, McCarthistic pesonality, but you Sir are an idiot.

  • You explain how this film has a McCarthy personality, no one was drunk for starters, and how it is "paranoid". The interpretation of film rests in evidence defendable by material in the film not individual fantasies. If you choose to defend the foul imperialistic behavior of the Communists then you are a foul person.

  • You are confused. I am not saying anything at all about this movie. I love this movie. I was referring to the ' I Led Three Lives" TV show of the early 50's, which was about a very paranoid double agent.

To answer an infamous McCarthy question, " I am not now, nor have i ever been a memeber of the Communist Party".

Now take your medicine and go to bed.

  • To accuse me of being confused is a jejune attempt at argumentation. It is for you to make your point clear. You did relate the two and offered a bizarre reason why you like this film. You have failed to answer my question. Can you? It would be all the better if you did some objective research at the library. Do not be afraid, going to a library will not harm you.

  • It is for you to learn to read and write English. Go back to the previous posts and you will see that I was talking about a TV series that had the same star as this movie ! Go to the library and find the word "jejune" if you can, after they let you out of the looney bin.

  • Since you cannot keep up with the debate, you engage in jejune (I know the word, you obviously do not) attempts at insults. There was a potential pleasent debate possibility here, but you reveal being too damned stupid to either engage in it or follow it. Get lost you moron and do what you do best- imagine you actually know something. I am sure you have other things to do than write childish notes to a more noble being such as myself.

  • to a more "noble" being ??? You are sooo modest !!! LOL You are so amusing

  • LOL!

  • 1:27 rogue space beach ball

  • XDDD kamikaze ufos !!

  • Still one of the best classic sci-fi films. Rates along with This Island Earth and Forbidden Planet. Considering its time, good effects and good concepts. ( I really miss MST3K though )

  • I saw this like 40-some years ago on black and white TV. I remember..'hey, holy cow, they crashed into the Washington Monument!". I disagree with folks thinking the special effects are bad. The effects are in fact what makes this classic. It's fantasy, so what is 'real' anyway. To me, this is what flying saucers should look like, because it the first ones I saw! Ray Harryhausen was a genius with what was available at the time. Check out 'Jason and the Argonauts', and 'Clash of the Titans', too.

  • what used to be horror back then is comedy to us now!!

  • Comment removed

  • Scottiepig ~ Pindhead! This isn't even a horror movie. It's Science Fiction.

  • This film recalls the movie Mars Attacks (1996)

  • Really makes you appreciate current special effects more.

  • You mean like the Hulk that looks like an animated cartoon?

  • looks like old sage radar up and running at beginning

  • I saw this movie last night.....its pretty good

  • lol, I would be "Earth vs. The Drunk flying saucers"

  • alein problems , yea we gott em

  • @pkmovies92 Don´t drink & fly.

  • awesome

    Delf n Kaz x

  • It's a 50's movie. What were you expecting? You must hate classic films.

  • they got the idea of the movie after the UFO sightings over Washington D.C

  • they have balls on their hands

  • lol, War of the Worlds of 52 is better

  • They made shit hot Sci Fi movies in the 50s. Awesome clip

  • Laser shooting sound effects, classic!!!

  • hey c'est bien fait!!

  • Super movie. Marvelous!

  • xD 2:05 is exactly the same scene which you can see in "The Giant Claw", another classic 1950s movie...quite interesting. 5*

  • I saw this movie as a youngster, and flipped the hell out! i love it to this very day!

  • At 1:09 I cant wait to see this happen.

  • Did this really happen?

  • lolwut

  • yes it did summer of 1956 didnt u know that??..:-)

  • Good one!

  • No O_O!!

  • Dear remanuelmr, I think you're mistaken, I have to believe MBLOM.

And when I read MBLOM's reply to my query, I started LMAO!

  • JUST PLAY INDIAN LOVE CALL! :D

  • FUCKING EPIC MOVIE!!!

  • kick ass movie. rare to see a movie nowadays that comes close to this stuff!!!!

  • thats right crap now in movies and crap food in america now to, what changed oh ya invasion of third world criminals and blood sucking lawyers

  • LMAO! Don Curtis was in this movie and he was a great man. I met him in Morristown at a metaphysical church where he lectured.

  • @zachflame123 yes. same classic like invasion from mars. and really now, computer generized movie today can beat the atmosphere from this old classics.

  • Quick, call Will Smith !!!

  • This is awesome. Why aren't modern movies more like this?

  • you can buy these movies for ten bucks at amoz dont want to say it some were

  • Look an orb- Satan has always been in hollywood.

  • i like U.F.O.

  • lol they just run into stuff

  • I want a flying saucer!!

  • Hmm I wonder where they got the idea...

  • I love how old sci-fi movies didn't need good special effects to be entertaining. They had an offbeat story and that's what people wanted.

  • me to now its criminals who run hollywood and getting worse the only thing hollywood improved is special effects.

  • This is better than the Tom Cruise version of 'War of the Worlds.' Seriously, it really is better.

  • like ten times better

  • OK, 10 times better. I agree with that.

  • In the "making of" feature on the 1953 "War of the Worlds" DVD, they talk about Harryhausen wanting to do the film. He was planning to make the tripod machines' heads with spinning tops and bottoms....flying saucers from this movie with legs added. Man that would have been cool. Octopus-like aliens and walking machines. Actually, "Earth vs the Flying Saucers" came later, so maybe the flying saucers are tripod machines with the legs REMOVED.

  • This was a very well-done film (Harryhausen has no equal, though this was his least-favorite project). I was particularly impressed with some of the science of the film (electro-magnetic anti-gravity, cybernetic interface, etc, thouhg with a rather primitive presentation).

And the characters were neither wooden nor pretentioussly melodramatic.

  • Harryhausen is da man. "The Day the Earth Stood Still" is a better movie, but its saucer is not nearly as cool as these. On the DVD of "Saucers" there is Joe Dante interviewing Harryhausen about the movie. He did stop-motion animation of the saucers while they were hanging on wires in front of a projected background, and he PAINTED THE WIRES BY HAND on every frame so they would not be visible against the background. Insane. It worked.

  • "People of Earth! Buy this Identified Disk today or suffer the consequences!"

Seriously; I love this flick so much, I have to hold my brains in!

  • the aliens look like sotarans from dr who lol!

  • Hey, those aliens have a Flat Screen TV in their spaceship! Proof of Alien Technology...haha

  • Good joke.

  • how ahead of it's time it was -endless amusement for the extraterrestrials - wow what a great word. did i spell word correctly?

  • You see what a good storyline, good actors, and awesome special effects can do for a movie?

This movie is better than this new crap, because it is original and has better actors.

  • J'avais 6 ou 7 ans quand j'ai vu ce film... j'étais impressionné! C'est le film qui me fait espérer une invasion extra-terrestre.

  • butt these is kn0t ryllly tr0u

    or is it ?

  • lool

  • Saucers might be a great way to beat I-66 rush hour coming in past Falls Church. On the other hand, you'd think a race advanced enough to build saucers would also have telecommuting.

  • Frickin awesome explosions!

P.S:I saw this on T.V one day, too bad it was half over.

  • I saw this, It was really great oldies but goodies I guess, LOL!

  • ahh these old secefects

  • I love this!

  • The mars man has been moonlighting doing voice overs for the rides at Disneyland.

  • Glad to hear that, futuremoviemaker16!

  • This is awesome, I'm 15, and I love these old black-and-white movies. I really want to see this.

  • THE ULTIMATE UFO MOVIE

  • i seen this when i was 8

  • I "seen" this? What are you now, 9?

  • Priceless!...I remember watching this and fiend without a face at our drive-in when I was a kid. All in amazing black and white. LOL. After seeing this again those aliens sure had trouble flying straight. Kept running into national monuments. :@)

  • Good, but I don't think it's got anything on 'The Day The Earth Stood Still", Marlowe was in that too & suprise of surprises, Col. Fielding from 'Invaders From Mars' (1953) is in this one too.
