this is why i SO love the 80's. I learned of the thompson twins via mtv in the early days. I wished I'd experienced going to their concerts and all, shoot, i missed how we used to dress in the 80's!
HERE'S TO FUTURE DAYS album went gold in U.k sold over 250,000,is went platinum in U.S. in these days, platinum in New Zealand, platinum in Japan ,gold in Australia ,gold in canada, gold in Sweden.. top ten in Sweden,Ireland,Spain,uk,canada, new zealand(n.1),portugal,Japan,top twenty in Italy,Us,suisse, norway, germany!
Fantastic...Got my Identical Vinyl Album of this on the deck right now....The little round sticker on the front says "Includes Free 5-Track Album of Re-Mixes 207 164"
Love Breakaway and Tokyo which preceeds Breakaway on the Album...They roll nicely into each other and almost seem like one track.
The remix Album is superb too...You'll never get those mixes on iTunes...haha!!!
@aramanth You are so so right about "Roll Over" which I only discovered recently when I go the new release CD of the album. That song is awesome. Why wasnt that a single over "Future Days"!!
I tell you the rating sometimes are never disclosed to the public. I can't tell you how I and many others I have met over the years who have bought repeatedly these albums, giving these away, only to buy again and again, even a few hundred thousand doing this would impact what those actual sales audits actually show.
I had considered in passing what effect buying multiple albums might have on actual sales, must confess until youtube.com I did just that, I think you have a very vailid point that billboard and the recording artist industry dont want to think about, not that they care if the albums sell right LOL later
I clicked on this by mistake but I am glad!! I forgot how much I loved this song!! There used to be a great mix to this song on an ep I had centuries ago! Ah vinyl......
Thanks for posting this classic! The TTwins should have released this as a single totally! lol I said "totally"...
@aramanth Yes...Ah vinyl...Got my vinyl copy of this Album on the deck right now...I think the mix you're on about is on the Free 5 track remix Album that came included with this one...The first track on the B side is called 'Kiss' but seems to be an amazing extended remix of 'Tokyo' and the second track called 'Dessert Dancing' and seems to be Breakaway right through same as normal then extended at the end...Yeah listening now...It is AMAZING!!! :)
I luv their songs in the 80's and still do.Trying to get hold of their DVD but can't.Where i am its just the current music that's on sale, like Britney.Quite frustrating
i wish tom bailey had carried on writing seriously. he was a huge asset to british pop and i place his creativity up there with that of sting. does anyone know where he is and what he's doing now. thanks for the music tom. this song is a real classic..
it sucks, i love it! saw them live, front row, greensboro nc, just after the release of 'future days.' great show. but man, they kind of suck to my-ears-now. actually, that's not entirely fair. its pretty good pop, and they always seemed sincere.
ahhhh....the days of ol'.....I was so in love with Tom Bailey!!!!

I loved this song the very first time I heard it, and still love it. Thanks for reminding me of it.
I also like what you did with the pictures, especially think you got the speed of them fading in and out just right for the song, so well done you.
