  • That's an older -37, with the older style thrust reverse assembly on the back end of those JT3D's, I think is what they are. Amazing; that initial left turn on the climb-out STARTS essentially right after V2. That would be fun to do. Love this video.

  • Fabulous video. Thanks so much.

  • Too bad the plane didn't crash you COCKSTAIN.

  • @Goethewrote It's too bad your retarded mother can reproduce and the state didn't abort you, fucklump. Stop acting like a butt-hurt cunt.

  • excelent films aviator ! subb : )

  • Too bad u got the wing

  • Holy moly! You can almost reach out and grab some ice for your drinks!!

    Great video!

  • utility poles in the crux of a curve, and mountains at the end of a runway. funny how that works out.

  • Great!

  • I wish you had a better seat, I hate sitting by the stupid wing.

  • nice vid but did u record this with a calculator? lol

  • world love t have seen this from the cockpit

  • I remember flying those old -200s from Bethel-Anchorage countless times. The newer jets are extremely nice, but the old ones had that classic feel, it was awesome. Nice vid!

  • A little mountain avoidance maneuver there LOL....Good pilots don't let good customers down...Whew!

  • Just love the climb out

  • landing must be a bitch!

  • I love to go to Juneau one day. Great procedure by the pilot.

  • Wonderful!!

  • I wouldn't call it the "Lemon Creek" departure...more like the "OOOOHHHH SHH*^^^^" departure! I'd be screaming bloody murder!! Someone would have to come take a coffee pot to my poor demented head to put me and everyone else out of my misery! (haha!) I don't like flying much; this would be the positive END of me.

  • @miskaffon Aw, c'mon, ya only live once. This is every amusement park rolled into one! I'd be completely psyched.

  • @SenorSpode - I'll leave it to you to enjoy :) I'll go by a cruise ship there and back, thanks anyway!! (I don't like many roller coasters, either).

  • @miskaffon Ya don't get seasick? ;-)

  • @SenorSpode - depends. I don't get sick so much on water. Freuqently do when flying! Then again, I've never been on any really rough water. Not sure I'd handle that very well. I have labrinthytis (sp?) and severe vertigo; twisty/turny roads and jerky camerawork in movies don't go over very well. Be happy you don't have that if you enjoy trick flying!

  • I have experienced this take off before, its pretty impressive

  • You're lucky they didn't use the Lemon Party departure.

  • @mechan9 Okay, that was a good one!

  • Is this before or after pilots were decided hmmmmmmmm

  • I got a newsflash. That plane had better be completely de-iced and you guys are loaded light to pull off this stunt. You better not even be close to full capacity.

  • @stratoleft (1) There was no precipitation falling which would've accumulated on the wings, (2) there was none on the ground at that time, (3) the ambient temperature was not conducive to icing conditions, precip or none, and (4) I think the PAJN staff and Alaska know what they're doing. You've obviously never been to Alaska or flown there. As far as capacity: If they're going to Anchorage, they're probably at 75% MTOW or below.

  • @SenorSpode Then if there is no ice, as you say, then for all practical purposes it's de-iced, then. Planes do stall, or come close, now and then. It simply depends on where and when. You sure don't want it in this video.

  • @stratoleft That's why there's a Pilot's Operation Handbook with every aircraft. It shows the parameters of operation, from stall to minimum climb speed, maximum rate-of-climb speed, etc. There's also corporate policy that dictates adhesion to the rules. Flying's largely by feel, but if pilots did that all the time then they wouldn't have college educations or care about their passengers, let alone themselves. I trust Alaska's pilots wholly. Call it unqualified, but I trust them.

  • I got the exact same plane from TinMouse for my FS2004 and I perform the same procedure flying out of Runway 8. Even on a PC, it's a kick! It keeps you busy, that's for sure. But what a view!

  • Awesome vid! This is my favorite T/O video now for the drama amidst the spectacular scenery. Thanks man!

  • I live in Juneau and whats cool about this departure is that they never turn left taking off Runway 8 they always go right and fallows a channel out of the airfield very odd they would do a left turn after takeoff cool video.

  • adrenaline :D

  • alaska is awsome

  • Great video. Is this procedure still done, even with newer versions of the Boeing 737? Thanks for sharing.

  • YA ! The Good Old 200's flew in them alot. Looks like even the passengers are flying on the seat of there pants. Great Video there! You get a number #10.

  • amazing take off~ nice job~

  • WO0O0O0O0W

  • VFR only?

  • @ammobaba = VMC only

  • that's a left than a right.... not the other way. And, man!! That plane is 200 years old!!!

  • 23 idiots with no knowledge of flying.

  • All electronic devices should be shut off. Idiot, and it is not even that wild of a ride. Disneyland teacup rides are more thrilling. Would love to know what airline this was. You should only be allowed to travel by bus from now on.

  • @Peterr1218 lol. Idiot.

  • @Peterr1218 seriously? lol

  • Nice!

    Left then Right.

No one told you to turn off camcorder before takeoff?

But glad you posted this for everyone.

Why can't I turn off [x] the advertisement obstructing some of the view?

  • This was the most amazing thing ive ever done...

Im 50 and done alot of shit ...But this was almost impossible.

  • now they no longer use this obstacle DP; I flew out of there this year and we did a straight-out RNAV climb up the Gastineau Channel; pulled some g doing it in an -800.

  • Shame we can´t see a front view, but is okay any way the mountains should be 300yards forward, i imagine

  • once, when i flew an 737-600 the radio to the pilots got onto the speatkers so we heard everything from take of to landing:P:P

  • beautiful take off

  • woah

  • Absolutely Awesome!

  • Serious power.

  • Wow that is spectacular.

  • Could you see Russia from up there?

  • @mechan9 LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....too funny

  • @mechan9 Juneau is on the South East part of Alaska so we are closer to Washington and Canada not Russia

  • madness mmmaaadddnnneeessssssss

  • Where can i find the chart of that take-off procedure?

  • And the good old PW JT8D-17 !

  • WOW! That was a spectacular takeoff. Good video. I know Alaska Airlines has replaced the 737-200`s, but what to they use on flights in Alaska now? The 400 series?

  • what plane was this?

  • @deltaA320 its the good old boeing 737-200 Combi

  • @Flowis311 yea its is look at the engines

  • Was the plane deiced b4 takeoff?

  • @MMSband737 no, i don't think so. The day wasn't that cold...

  • @Flowis311 LOL not cold in alaska so ironic :P

  • @Flowis311 All planes are deiced before take off, it's part of the cockpit preperation procedures.

  • insane flight!!!

  • is that atc in the

  • I love interesting Takeoffs but I am less excited about interesting Landings ... I like the acceleration and the feeling of raw power but I don't like the slowing down part that Landings require ... I just want to get up an go fast.

  • it´s a immediate left and right turn after takeoff, anyway very extreme, no for me. tks for sharing.

    correcting

  • it´s a immediate left and left turn after takeoff, anyway very extreme, no for me. tks for sharing

  • i live in juneau and i took off her alot and never took a left after departure its always following the channel (right turn) lol anyways wierd haha

  • thats alot of flaps for take off

  • @fsxcptain like you would know

  • very strong curve, is grait.

  • what a view!

  • had to do this in FSX not exactly exciting lol

  • Yeah thats some hardcore climb rate but in the faa approved procedures the climb rates are listed in feet per nautical mile not minute, so the faster you are, the faster you have to climb, which is why you could get into some hot water quick if it was a warm day, had a heavy plane, and a tail wind

  • Haha, that is some crazy shit

  • Yikes, looks like you'd only have to be off course by a few hundred feet to slam into the side of a mountain. Surprised that procedure is FAA approved, maybe they better take another look at it.

  • the planes in canada are smaller then the ones in th united states.

  • @robinspillman what? lol that makes no sense! it doesn't matter where you are, the planes will be the same size, the difference is the US has alot more airlines that fly planes like the 747.

  • Reminds me of the praying and cheering flights we used to have on a regular basis flying into Southeast Alaska...praying we would land safely...and cheering when we did!

  • always felt confident flying the 737-200 cause you always knew there were so many high hours planes out there with more hours than the one you were flying. If something was going to break it would have broken on another high hour plane.

  • @goyherder

    like 737-100 for example

  • @goyherder That means absolutely nothing theres so many different things that can go wrong. It's a completely different plane with completely different circumstances. If something goes wrong with a boeing 737 with 500,000 hours you think the same exact thing is going to happen to a newer boeing 737 when it reaches 500,000 hours? haha wow

  • kick ass! that musta been fun....rob205rob, i suspect it works the same, except ya cant see nothin :)

  • Nice SID

  • who's sid?

    hehehehehe

  • Wow...how does that work with low ceilings?

  • this made me feel dizzy tht mustve been a wild take off

  • Wow, that was something!

  • yes.. and im superman!

  • @lolz651 it's a 737-200. if it was a 747, the wings would be alot longer.

  • @B3rettaZ26 And 2 engines

  • thanks. lol. i forgot that.

  • Hmm...I never knew a 747 has dead short wings and no wingtips (besides the 400D)

  • @halo2windows its not a 747 whoever called it that is a plonker

  • lol, I love the term 'plonker' ! :P I'm from Australia, we don't here that enough!

  • @jlebesis haha glad I amused you

  • @lolz651 its a 737 only one wing per tip don't name it if you don't know it leave it to people who know about plane you just like them not know about them I know about them and like them

  • Great job and great scenery

  • I miss those -200 they were one cool planes!!

  • The olds JT8D in high perfomance!

    A classic, no dude.

    RIP 737-200.

  • nice view

  • -200 lol.. how scary?

  • search corcheval ( bad spelling) it is a ski resort with one hell of a sketchy runway, when u take off you go straight off the cliff

  • courchevel

  • Courcheval, France, yep, know that one. And the shorter, higher version, known as Lukla in Nepal. With Lukla, there's no go-arounds; you botch it, that's all she wrote.

    Nice video BTW, Flowis311!

  • Yeah no kidding, did you know thats where they shot the opening sequence of the bond flick, golden eye'? yup chek it out.

  • sweet

  • Scary ass video but awesome liftoff!!

  • A classic old 737-200Adv

  • Wow that's cool!

  • i would have shit my draws!!! do they have night take offs from this crazy airport????

  • I've been there in 2006, landing also was not bad, almost killing a duck on the sea with right wingtip.... :-)

  • of course, this airport is only available with perfect visibility and no winds, eh?

  • Whats the ICAO for this airport?

  • PAJN

  • Thank you

  • two words.... nuts and crazy!!!

  • brilliant video love to be on that plane hope you had a good flight!!!!!!!!

  • Wow they weren't wrong about the immediate left and right banking were they, wow. Amazing!

  • Lovely

  • i love this plane ..nice vid

  • beautiful

  • It's so cool. Good video.

  • and here I thought the Concords Kenndy1 Depart turn was fun..I am gonna have to try this one.. I bet the aircraft was yelling bank angle, might be the way the cam is held tho.. Looks fuuuuuun

  • Wow, fabulous takeoff.

  • now i have to do this on fs2004

  • Where were you headed to?

  • to yakutat, the landing is posted too...

  • Very cool to see the ailerons and flaps at work.

  • Ah yes, the old Lemon Creek manuver...ain't it great?

  • We should sell back Alaska to the Russians. Throw in Palin as a bonus.

  • that is AWESOME!!!!!! It would freak out my mom though =p

  • I flew on a 737-200 too on the way to majorca. They said they are meant to be for flights to canada and america, but it was the only plane available

  • SPECTACULAR! I love it!

  • Put that one on my list of airports to visit. :) Amazing!!!

  • А не высок ли угол атаки?.... Для данного лайнера?

  • Very cool takeoff!

  • beautyfull take off! :)

  • it wuz like i wuz taking the look. i hate that gear where it feels like your slowing down while ascending.

  • Why didn't they used the channel departure?, it is easier.

  • Did you see the wind sock?

  • You can have cameras on ! lol

  • it looked like th wing was going to fall of

  • Comment removed

  • Now I wonder... didn't the captain say you should turn all your electric devices off?

  • oh my god...

  • Holy crapplecake fudgenutters! That was indeed a hair raiser!

  • Holy crap. A good time to be wearing diapers....

  • WOW

  • beautiful

  • awsome!

  • Awsome!

  • Very cool! I'm glad you kept the video rolling so we could see down Gastineau channel and Eaglecrest. This is also called the Lemon Creek departure. I used to live in Lemon Creek, and every morning at 2am (when the wind was out of the east), Alaska Airlines had a old, loud 727 full of cargo depart runway 8. It was a pretty good alarm clock. A few hours early, but effective.

  • thanks for the info...i always couldn't understand what the pilot says in the beginning: lemon creek departure! thanks for watching ;-)

  • I've flown in and out of this airport, both in real life and Flight Simulator. Either way, it's a hair-raiser! It's definitely a take-off (or even approach) that will keep you busy and have Mr. Sphincter chewing chunks out of the seat.

  • but it's so much fun too!!

  • I just flew on a 737 200 two days ago, I love that plane, I just do and the flight was the smoothest flight i've had in years. My view however, wasn't nearly as spectacualr as yours I am afraid. this is great

  • Wow that was pretty insane!

  • damn if thats the take off i wonder how they land =/

  • kai tak style!
