MMA fighters make more than that, however you are right they don't make as much as a boxer does in a world title fight. However this is not to do with fighting, its to do with that fact boxing has been around much longer and has a greater audience thus naturally there is more money involved in this business. However give MMA another 20 years and I suspect there will be multi million dollar purses.

actually it's very common for fighters to train anywhere between 8-12 hours a day during the 4-6 weeks before a fight. You don't train that way year 'round, you cycle it, and time it correctly so that you're at 100 percent for the fight. Generally right after the fight, there are several weeks of light exercise to assist in recovery. When I was pro boxing, I did the same...now I spar periodically with Cotto and I can tell you he trains 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week.
