  • Nice video! I live in Salt Lake City and I would say more than half the trains that come through here have DPU units. In the last Four years I've been seeing more trains with DPU units than I've ever seen. I started noticing it right after the economy took a crap.

  • Where did that random horn blast at 4:32 come from?

  • that is a long stack train nice job filming

  • electric trains can pull much more then diesels.

  • I beg to differ, electric trains may have their advantages over diesels. Diesels are more heavier and have more traction than electric trains. Horse power is speed and traction is power, that's why you see most freight railroads who know they haul some major tonnage go for GE or EMD Diesel electric locomotives. Electric trains are best for passenger services because of their speed.

  • Dash 9s? Have you ever been on a GE motor? Im gonna say that the EMD SD40s are the true warriors, 40+ years of service, dont get much better then that!

  • damn i can feel the ground shaking in new york!!

  • another Santa Fe train on the transcon comprised of 4 GE's and trailers (or containers).

  • I don't know shit about trains besides that was a damn long sumbitch

  • Real great clip, thanks for sharing.

    Are the last engines helpers?

  • Chances are, they probably are.

  • they are known as DPU's or distributed power units.

  • DAMN!

  • that is rare wher is that awesome!

  • what a bummer eh fukn speed restrictions !!

  • I see Norfolk Southern units @ 2:03.

  • > 104 cars

  • excellent long video

    huge train!

kurwa takie pociag to wiecej niz POLSKIE składy kontenerowe przez tydzien

    :)

  • The power units sound like they are under a whole lot of load :)

  • Are they Dash 9's at the front? (I'm new to this) That train is so long, the work crew could sit down make themselves a coffee, breakfast, light a pipe and read the newspaper before it finished passing by! :)

  • now that was a very long train

  • what route is that?, would want to go there

  • It needs some hot women in bikinis...or less.

  • I know what this needs... a steam engine!

  • great video have not bee in that area to video tape trains when i came out to visit .but been in Victorville,California a few times. nice place.

  • this location is called CP Martinez, and thats the cajon sub not the mojave sub! But still an awesome shot with those work crews in the beginning, 5 stars!

  • there is pilots for aircraft captains for shps what do they call a train operator?

  • Howdy,

The person that drives the train is called the ENGINEER (right side) and the person that talks back and forth to dispatch is called the CONDUCTOR (left side) - It's as simple as that! ;-)

    Bryan

  • RARE of BNSF intermodals there!

  • on the NS subject, ive seen a dash 9 up here in kalama washington..they do get around.

  • My answer to the title is: Not much!

3 pairs of BNSF Dash 9's along with a pair of NS's in California!

  • NS is very common in CA now. has been for the past 2-3 years. At times they even lead BNSF trains

  • Yea, I heard that :P

  • i love it when your standing by a crossing and they lay on the horn....

  • Cool video!! Here's a question. If you had to give up truckfanning or railfanning, which would it be? Again nice video!

  • have you seen ferromex in the mojave pass?

  • You're right!! That had a lot of what i want to see in a vidio. That was one long stack train! liked the last train best, cool ending. 5 star & favorites.

  • Enjoyed watching it. Great video!

  • Nice catch!

  • those trains are earning their keep.

  • Loving the shot right at the end where the lead engine on the other train and the DPU on the passing train were right side by side!! Beautiful country and trains, great video, yeah!!

  • the other engineer was prolly in the bushes taking a leak LOL

  • I went and a train snuck up on me and honked at me a bunch as a joke.

  • AWSOME!!!!!!

  • WOOOOOO!!! A train meet and truckfanning at the same time. No more can be asked for!

  • Great video!!! Yeah, what more can you ask!!
