I had Tim Stafford as a teacher at Augusta Bluegrass week this past summer and he showed us how to play the opening lick to this song. Sorry but I already forgot it and am re-learning it now. I think it was in Drop-D tuneing.
Bluehighway is ON TOP!!! 15yrs and still the same pickers!!! you might think that accomplishment deserves your respect!! I saw there 2nd show @ the down home and at least 3 shows a year since! Even my 14 yr old daughter is a fan!!!! Im rasin her right!!
I know what you mean. Our band has been together only about 3 years and already gone through 3 bass players and 2 mando players. LOL.
Its cool to hear your daughter is into bluegrass. I'm 17 and I love bluegrass. Sometimes it gets discouraging because there are so few people my age that likes bluegrass.
Well this argument has no winner, but I will take Blue Highway over Cherry Holmes anyday. I like Blue Highways songs better, and I Prefer their picking styles to Cherryholmes.
yeah, i agree at the recent pickup in talent as far as bluegrass goes so it is hard to choose...what really makes me love cherryholmes is vocals and song choice.

Yes They Are!!!

I disagree, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs & The Foggy Mountian Boys might be the best Non-gospel (I'm in a bluegrass gospel band) bluegrass band.
Blue Highway is very talented however, perhaps some of the most talented musicians in modern bluegrass.
HillbillyJ 4 years ago
They are definetly the best modern bluegrass band. I agree about Flatt and Scruggs being the all time greatest.
