I was stunned about 2 effects in bioshock.

1. obviously the water, which looks just deliciously fantastic.

2. the glass. bioshock was the first game i saw which had real glass effects. for example, early in the game you walk through a glass corridor and suddenly a piece of the plane crashes right into it. you can see that the broken/chipped glass had depth. it's not just a flat texture of broken glass. the cracks go deep in the glass. a not-so-important but awesome effect ^^

Your card will run this game at maximum graphics. I had a sapphire radeon 2600XT (which cost like 90$) and I could run this at maximum graphics, DX 10, 1024x768 resolution (but no anti-aliasing). Id say its definitely on the same level as the 8800GT.

i play the game with 30 and some times 40 fps with an 7900GTX card. But in comparison with other games it doesnt need a ultra high end pc to play.

the radeon 9600 is a shader model 2.0 card.

bioshock officially only supports shader model 3.0.

there is an unnoficial patch that enables you to use shader model 2.0 but it is glitchy & even on low settings with your card you would probably only to be able to yeild about 10fps which is not playable at all.

condsidering the age of your gfx card the rest of your system is old so i would reccomend that you either but or make an ew system.

the 360 use a custome version of directx 9, it is possible to program these directx 10 effects into the 360's api, however, the system lacks the system memmory to properly display these effects properly in high definition.

I bet all the people who complain about no difference are the people who bought it for 360 and want to reassure themselves that they made the right choice. This video has almost lower of a resolution than VGA so of course you're not going to see a difference. Put them side by side at 2560*1600 and I'm sure you'll see a pretty big difference once games really start taking advantage of it.

um crankin the resolution that high is doing nothing but up scalen and plus 360 i use which has HDMI which is the same as using DVI they both use digital signals and plus xbox 360 is capable of direct x10 as it is using the one version of the R600 which is basicly a 2700? or 2800? but i know its called the Xenos

HDMI has a maximum resolution of 1920*1080, DVI has a max resolution right now of 3840*2400. Not the same thing. I'm sure Xbox360 doesn't lack support for it but the problem is the lack of system/graphics memory. And what I was saying is with the low resolution of this vid you can't really see any detail. If you put it in high resolution you'll be able to see everything clearly and tell a difference.

actually, i played the bioshock demo on my dx9 card, and many of these effects (water reflections on walls, watter trickling down stairs) werent there.. but yeah, similar, but not the same... a lot of the basic refraction, reflection effects were there but not more fine details like i mentioned

i am runing vista right now and i can tell you theres nothing wrong with it. my system is 2 gb's of dual chanel ddr 2 ram, 2x 8600 gts's superclocked (evga) and a amd 4200+ x2 i have been playing games such as oblvion (which i can run at full at around 50 fps) and lost plantet in dx 10 wich looks amazing. as a response the reason you cant get dx10 on a zp machine is because its just not compatible.

You clearly have no idea what your on about, look at the benchmarks for the bottom of the range SX10 compatible cards (8800 GTS 320MB) and you'll see that it more than copes with games such as lost planet and runs them with frame rates into the hundreds. As for vista, it's in its early stages and as with every other windows OS in its infancy, they have there bugs and glitches but in time these will be smoothed out and the majority of people will be using vista.
