  • Hi there mihalrots - the thing is that in israel - this company is not small at all - it's one of the largest milk products companies in israel - coca cola just tought cuz the superbowl is not so pupolar in israel that no one would make the connection...

As you may guess by my name- I know Yotveta very well and grew up with Michael Hanegby's version of the commercial, and with that chocolate milk... and Yotveta may be big in Israel- but that's a very very tiny market compared to Coca Cola's, and Yotveta itself is very very tiny compared to CocaCola, don't you agree? :-)

  • As someone in advertising i can assure you that the Coke ad creator got the idea unknowingly from Yotvata (its enough to see it once a few years back)

  • whoever posted this has an agenda by editing the spots to look identical. yes they are VERY similar. but if you're going to put two spots side by side you should do it as they exist, not editorializing them to be identical.

  • Funy clime (: Give me a brake. These commercials are not at same length (the only diference?), so the aditing shows well the identical elements, shots and music. They are basically the same. "What a coincidence".

  • Its not the agenda because its useless to show the stuff that are not the same because there are lots of different stuff but the MAIN idea is the same! a sleep walking guy who wakes up in the middle of the night to get his favorite drink, but making a damn hippo break a boat doesnt make the commercial idea yours..its like making a new brand of coke , make it red, taste like coca cola , but just call it KOUALA KOLA and make a damn cock as the logo, wouldnt that be a damn rip off too?

  • that's embarrassing... the concept could have easily been a mistake of having the same idea. shit, it happens. but the fact that the background song is the same is real bad. this isn't even that cleaver of an idea, its an obvious plot.

  • My problem with this split screen is that (while the concepts and several shots are INDEED ripped off), both sequences have been edited to match one another. Neither are the original spots, but cut downs from the source to make the copy-cat shots line up.

    Otherwise... shame on Wieden.

  • They certainly have some similarities, especially when they're recut to look exactly the same. Take a look at the whole coke spot, and you'll see that it's more different than you're indicating here.

  • @doublemazaa - sure there are differences (the full Yotvata spot also has more scenes).

    BUT there are too many undeniable similarities in basic concept, look&feel, and above all - the music.
