  • what the hell

  • hit the test pins together with a screwdriver it will reset the board for you and it sounds like service man contanimation LOL cap in the box huh lolol NICE!!! and i think it was a singer you speaking of with the plastic they actually were not bad compared to some of the junk of todays manufacturing like trane evap coils they rifle the copper to get the refrigerant to swirl causing better heat pickup but also causing weak evap coils OOPS ....

  • i troubleshoot a heat pump system on start up the compresor started iceing up it wouldnt take a charge.whats the problem?

  • At 1:45 you speak of the outdoor temp sensors, what did they ohm at, there is a specific resistance for each of those at given temps. What was the capacitance of the capacitors? Thanks for the vids, they help me learn to be a tech also!!

  • Hey Mike could you use Circuit Diagram in your explanation process

    please.

Don't give me wrong , you are a excellent and smart guy.

Thank you very much for your time and for Sharing you experiences and knowledge.

  • i don't know what's wrong with my unit! i mean it's weird cuasethe fan works very slow but every time the looks like it's gonna work nomal the the fuses box(electriciti box)turn off the wats are 60watts int electricity box)i try turrn on its happend againg.......... i try to run in heat or emheat dons't work aither cold or hot u think is the conpresor or the elcetricity??

    i live a mobile home please help!!!1

  • Mike thanks for the info. I ran into almost the exact same problem motor was going out on thermal replaced motor with proper rpm/hp worked like a champ. I hope you all continue to post these videos it's wealth of info. Not new in the trade (10 years sheet-metal/install/change-out) but new to service about 6 months. I really appreciate you and Dr. Z

    Thanks from a sincere fan

  • Love the comment on the Chinese! I having the same trouble with a york heat pump. Still in school for it though. Keep it up!

  • It's important to check the entire system out even if you think you've corrected the problem. Capacitors, motors, superheat, subcooling, cleanliness of components,CTD on defrost board must be timed, verify pressure switch opens as it should with gauge attached. All must be verified before leaving the job. Sometimes there are multiple problems to address. You can also generate more income being more thorough.Take nothing for granted. This will prevent embarrassing recalls such as this!

  • I agree jdr..but you can tell the guy was pretty darn smart for a service tech and he's definitely not a newby....meaning beyond leaving jumper wires on a unit calling it fixed and leaving ...but sometimes being human mean we make the occasional mistake and don't live in the perfect hvac tech bubble. That call was only embarrasing if he wouldn't have came back to fix it!! Great work and service in my opinion..but my opinion is like a nose usually has a couple of holes in it! LOL

  • Good job, the world needs more techs like you.

  • If you checked your amp draw, wouldn't you have gotten a larger draw with the increased load?

  • Hey third year, thanks for the tip, we are in just about the same boat, it's fun figuring this stuff out on your own hu ? Thanks for the post, Josh

  • that tombstone shaped unit you were trying to think of was a heil quaker. sears and montgomery ward used to sell them under their name long time ago. the unit you were working on was probably a stellar series maybe E*FB. let me know if you need any info on that unit

  • Could be Whirlpool or

    Sears too.

  • older carrier is shaped like that too

  • Some older Bryant/Carrier uses either an 850 or 875 (can't remember which) RPM Condenser Fan Mtr...But Chances are you won't have one on your van...Well I never do at any rate...

Thanks for the heads up on the YORK...that may save me from scratching my head on a Saturday night after hours call...

  • You know thats right! Usually I don't carry 825's on the truck, I had been carrying those 825 GE rescue motors but I don't think they are GE anymore, just borrowing the brand name for a while after being bought. Anyway I seem to have issues with them so I try and get an emerson or AO Smith rescue motor. 1075 GE rescues are ok though I suppose.

  • There was a fan cap for the out door fan straped to the suction line. I looked at it and said what the crap was they thinking

  • It would have been nice if the customer had told you that an other tech was out there and had replaced the fan motor. Obviously, the motor she had wasn't OEM. Gotta love them Rescue Motors.
