I remember this very well because I was so disgusted by it! Taylor was doing a good job, but she wasn't even really singing, except for a few notes. The worst thing, though, was that she was dancing around, trying to look cute and sexy, when this is one of the most tragic songs every written! I am hoping she was just drunk or something, and was embarrassed for having acted like such an idiot.

I say this respectfully - think about what this song is all about. If it were Donna Summer's "Love to love you baby," then they'd be doing the right moves. This is about a child growing up in "the ghetto," being drawn into a life a crime, and dying as a young man there. At the end "another child is born."

You could not be any more correct. This was a clueless performance - Idol should have filtered it out. The original is a very moving song, done appropriately and masterfully by Elvis. This unfortunately is an abomination.
