The children were not killed as shown. The doctor administered a powerfull sedative to each child. Later, Mrs. Goebbels came in, after all were soundly sleeping, put liquid cyanide glass capsules into their mouths, broke them open, letting the poison into their mouths. The scene was probably shortened by combining these separate incidents into one to save very expensive16mm film. For those of you who are blowing their stacks right now, it was a horrific act and this was a minor detail.
