  • wauw spelling went fucked up

  • Terrible desicision

  • It's obvious VP was trying to play the ball. A yellow card maybe, but not a straight red. The referee was WRONG!

  • If he really wanted to kick him he would have been in hospital. Get the feathers out please.

  • Van Persie = Dirty footballer who gets send of on a regular basis referee obviously thought he was trying to kick him in the chest and that warrants a straight red if this was Roberto Baggio when he played it wouldnt have been a card but cuz its persie referees know his a player who plays rough so really he left the ref with no choice

  • @Christizm

Fuck off RVP gets red regularly, does he fuck you spud.

  • RVP will still go beast mode on everyone

  • poor Alen Orman :(

  • red card my arse

  • shit decision.

  • it was reckless, rash and stupid- high boot. Red. Intention has nothing to do with it as it is almost impossible to rightfully determine whether a person "intends" to something or not.

  • @sharbut It was reckless, but i dont think he even saw his oponent, so yellow would be justified but red is too much

  • I think that in football (foot being the main word there) you aren't alowed to use your foot to get the ball, how pathetic. Some refs are clueless aswell.. Arsenal for life,

  • You certainly know there is more to it than that. Only an arsenal supporter or a Van Persie fan would try to justify going into a tackle with your foot THAT high, You're making yourself look ridiculous son - I would just save yourself from further embarrassment and say no more.

  • @pa20002000 Dont talk down to me mate like your trying to put me down make yourself look bigger. Your first paragraph, is wrong by the way. It wasnt a tackle..... He tried brining the ball down with control. There was no intention what so ever to clip him in the face. So i aint got a clue what your trying to tell me.

  • @joshthebear1 I missed a third option - an arsenal supporter, a Van Persie fan or maybe just someone who doesn't understand "dangerous play" - it DOESN'T have to be a tackle, you must know that already. Can I give you another word to look up in your dictionary, if you still don't have a clue? "Disingenuous" - that word sums you up best of all.

  • @joshthebear1 I missed a third option - an arsenal supporter, a Van Persie fan or maybe just someone who doesn't understand "dangerous play" - it DOESN'T have to be a tackle, and it DOESN'T have to be intentional. Look it up - but you must know that already. Can I give you another word to look up in your dictionary, if you still don't have a clue? "Disingenuous" - that word sums you up best of all.

  • @pa20002000 Mate, chill. Stop arguing. I'll appologise and take whatever I've said that's upset you, back. You're obviously very annoyed and seem to be very wound up by this. I'm sorry for doing that, although it was very easy to do. This was never my intention. Hope you manage to get over it. Leave with love.

  • @pa20002000 going into a tackle?..he isnt going in for a tackle you fool, you are the one making yourself look ridiculous..you must be a yid or a fucking yank son Piss off

  • Seadog94, his foot was very high, never a yellow. its got red card written all over it

  • @JulianDugard no, you're wrong; Van Persie goes in with his foot high without looking at the player at all, his intentions are clearly for the ball and he's focused on controlling the ball, it's a yellow card

  • @samlandon345 Look, as a fully qualified football referee, I know pretty much every single Law off by heart, you cannot challenge for the ball like that at any level off football. whether he was going for the ball or not, it was still too dangerous; too high and liable to end the other player's career. Red card all day.

  • @samlandon345 "Intention" is no part of the rule. It was certainly "reckless".

  • he got the ball first tho? whys that a read?

  • Thats what you call pure class by a top class player =D

  • Wow was that a straight red? You could see he was clearly looking at the ball the whole time. Yes it was a high foot but there was absolutely no intention. Amateur decision.

  • i hope van persie's boot is ok! that players head could have seriously damaged it.

  • THE FLYING DUTCHMAN!!!

  • that was nice xD

  • tht was a total accident

  • Comment removed

  • OWNED, STUDS TO THE FACE!

  • It's a red card cause he lifted his foot too high, douchebags.

  • he went for the ball, it does look bad but RVP didn't mean to do it

  • @ Batmanxtc + seadog94 > you guys shouls read the laws of football if you think thats only a yellow card. It doesnt have to be intentional for him to be sent off. If he ignores all safety about the other players thats a sending off also, which is clearly the case here!

I have no doubt it was not his intention, but his foot has NOTHING to do up that high, so a red card is 100% ok. If he hadn't hit the opponent then maybe the ref could have settled for a yellow. But in this case he got it right.

  • @cphthomsen Yes you are correct. Endangering the saftey of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play (s1) Law 12- Fouls and misconduct.

  • @TheWolfMyth I know I'm right mate... Im not a Ref in the danish pro divisions for nothing you see ;-)

  • @cphthomsen Rubbish. His eyes were on the ball. Uefa cut down his suspension from 3 games to 1 when he did that so they obviously felt they got it wrong.

The defender also challenged for the ball after Van Persies attempt to control it.

  • @josevanreyes It doesnt matter where his eyes were at mate... The rules are very simple, if you show a complete disregard towards safety towards the other players, thats a clear red card. Whether or not its a 1 game suspension or 3 game suspension.. Thats a different debate. But there is absolutely nothing to argue about the card which the ref got 100% right!

  • @cphthomsen WHat do you be disregard? The defender stuck his head in after Van Persie jumped to control it. He had his eyes on the ball and saw the defender come in very late. It was a yellow card but it isnt a red card.

  • @josevanreyes Read the Fifa Laws of the game mate.. It says: A red card is given for a player showing a complete disregard for other players safety.

And you really can't see that his foot up that high is a complete disragard for the safety of the defender? then you should be watching another sport!

  • @cphthomsen No it wasnt because van Persie didnt know till it was too late. Your allowed to put your foot up if the ball is unchallenged to control it. The defender was the player who comprimised his own safetly by moving his ahead towards the ball after Van Persie attempted to control it. It was the defenders bravery that caused the injury not van persies high leg. Uefa knew they made a mistake which is why they decreased the normal punishment for a red card which pretty much kills ur arguement

  • @josevanreyes You need to go read the laws of the game, and then you can debate them. Its a waste of time debating things you apparently have no idea about.

If UEFA or any other govering body decreased the ban, it doesnt prove the red card was a bad call. if it was bad they would have cancelled it.

So go learn the rules. And stop arguing with Ref's who deal with pro players every weekend!

  • @cphthomsen Use your common sense thats a good attribute great referees have. You my friend are shit ref.

  • @josevanreyes Funny thing is that i just got promoted to the pro ranks here.. so i can't be that shitty after all.. Maybe its you that is the shitty one defending a reckless act!

  • @cphthomsen Not all pro refs are good. Your probably a terrible referee just like Denmarks national team.

  • @josevanreyes Lol learn the rules, then you can judge. But since i get promoted up a league every season, I guess i'll take the Danish Football Association's word and think i know the rules a bit better than you dude!

  • abu diaby did that today in the wigan game...got fuck all!!

  • didnt he just get the ball first?

  • Eyes on the ball the whole time. Yellow card at most.

  • he wasn't even looking at the player.

  • id say yellow, nothing malicious, he had his eyes on the ball

  • Dangerous play- Red card- Correct decision, i would have been tempted just to give him a yellow

  • i hate van persie, but to be honest, thats a yellow, his eyes are on the ball all the way

  • nah.... it's a foul.. High leg

  • definetly a red

  • It was a red. You can't pull off a flying kick like that even if it wasn't intentional. He could have taken the poor bastard's face off

  • it wasnt a flying kick xD he was just trying to puto down the ball ... the other player just stand in front ... he wasnt even looking at him, he was looking the ball all the way.

  • VanPersie's Eyes were in the ball all the time.. It wasn't his intention..

  • @BaTMaNxTc Intention isnt the issue here.. Its the complete disragard for the opponents safetu by having his foot up that high.. therefore its a straight red...

  • if it's not on purpose, it's not a red card!

if his intention is to play the ball, and it's only dangerous play, a yellow card would be in place.

@magma888, I don't see how that could have killed him, it's not like he kicked him in the head from the side..

and if you know Van Persie, you know he's a fair player and would never do something like this on purpose.

  • well you always get redcard when going in like that dsnt matter if its intentional or not, Rly dangouros play and he can get seriously hurt,

  • That's a yellow card. Unintentional contact in the face, but still dangerous play. So a yellow card. Red is ridiciolous.

  • A very dangerous kick that could have killed him. Def. a red card

  • that could have killed him ahah

yes yes i can pull medical facts out of my ass too

  • thats a yellow

  • thats was just bad luck/timing.. prlly didnt see the player

  • well it looked like he was going for the ball

  • he kicked him in the face. definite red card.

  • no red card

he concentraded on the ball and didnt see the other player come

  • that was definatly not a red card

  • Indeed, yellow card for dangerous play. Stupid referee!

  • not a red. end off

  • that's awesome, well sexy, I hope he meant it!! xx

  • Was a yellow card for dangerous play, nothing more.

  • not a red card, stupid referee, van persie didnt see the other player- thats a yellow card

  • that's not the point he went up with his studs way too high and it happened red card.

  • you fucking stupid?,seeing not a player is not a lowering in punishment fucking moron

  • This is very dangerous...but definitely isn't a red...Van Persie was going for the ball...he didn't even realize that there was a defender...

  • He simply thought he would get the ball with his foot, he had no idea the other player was there

  • yeah its a shit rule just being clumsy

  • to be fair he didn't even see the guy he was looking at the ball.

  • It doesn't matter. You can't lift you leg that high in any situation, aside from a scissor-kick.

  • Brilliant descion never though he would give a red for that. Have your foot that high and make contact, it is what we referees call excessive force and because of the studs and I think this was a UEFA CL match so anything over ankle height you can get sent off for. By accident but referees have to follow the laws laid down by FIFA. I'm a referee too and have sent off players for this we don't want to but it's a dangerous incident.

  • This is no red, Hes got his eyes on the ball the whole time.

  • you ave reason (Scuse me for my english) xD

  • ya lets see him blind you with the studs and get a yellow? pfff/

  • defanitly not a red, yellow, crap ref.

  • he went in studs up, close to the guys head

  • he headbutted his foot, ok high feet perhaps yellow but... pathetic referee

  • the other guy was just standing in the wrong place at the wrong time.... actually he had enough time to move out of the way so it's gotta be a yellow for me

  • Yellow is m opinion( he never saw the player so it wasnt on purpose

  • Was clearly going for the ball, but it's still dangerous play, so a yellow card would be more accurate to give out. But can't blame the ref though, he might have seen it as RVP intentionally doing it from his POV.

  • lol pooooor van persie, hey what team was he on when this happened? it looks like he is on portugal o.O

  • here are some clues:

    1. he is dutch, so not portuguese

    2. the jersey sponsor is O2

    3. when it shows the red card it shows the logo of arsenal

  • Ooh ooh, pick me. Pick me.

    Is it Man U?

  • genius

  • Yeah I thought so too.

Apparently sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, but I believe it takes skill. :P

  • Oh dear.

  • yellow card for high foot. but not red coz it was not meant

He was 100% concentrating on the ball and had no idea about the other guy. You can sse how sorry he is straight after it.

  • POS ref

  • 100% red card. Way to high foooot

  • yellow 100%, but in the eyes of the ref, he did not cleats up!

  • Its a red card, how the hell is the ref suppose to see if van Persie is goin for the ball, what look at his eyes? I mean come out he could easily have blinded the defender there

  • yellow card for me. The guy (Robin) did not intentionally hit an opponent, that I struck the ball and that is it. This is wrong, should not red karton.Robin Van Persie is the law!

  • are you SERIOUS? 10000000% red

  • I`m SERIOUS!!! this is my opinion. You have your opinion and I have nothing against your opinion. comment is OK for you, but not for me ... Thanks

  • RAR

  • cant agree tbh, eyes on the ball all the time.

i can see how a ref would give it, but there was no intentions to harm there.

    yellow for me

  • didnt mean it is dangurous but maybe a yellow or not, the referee only sees it ones, its easy for us to say "hes a shit referee, total wrong decision"

becuase we see it about 10 times, ref sees it ones and his views, not the viewr on the sofa's view or the crowds view

    for me...its a yellow

  • yellow.

  • Persie Cant see another footballer. This is yellow card not red

  • probobly accidental but how give the ref some slack, how could he hav known it was accidental?

  • I feel quite bad for van persie, foot was very high but he was watching the ball, so probably only a yellow

  • Where in the laws of the game does it say if the player is watching the ball they can't be sent off?

  • Where in the rules of the game does it say an australian can criticise the inventers of the game. Fact is it wasnt malicious, its a harsh straight red.

  • Nice retort. Your intelligence shows in your response. Read the laws, it's still classed as Serious Foul Play.

  • Read the other comments, your the only one that thinks this is a red. Shows your arrogance above others. Im bored of you now, dont bother responding.

  • Are you and the others class 1 state league referees? I think not. I'm not being arrogant, I'm being realistic. You are arguing with the decision of a FIFA referee who has thousands of hours of experience, and has attending hundreds of hours worth of seminars and lectures on the laws of the game.

  • Just because this "FA" ,not FIFA, ref has sat through hours of seminars and lectures does mean he is immune from making mistakes.Look at the other nigt in the champions league, the referee was hopeless.

  • it werent his fault shouldnt have been sent off

  • actually it looks pretty cool , he gives that guy some hardass kung-fu kinda kick. BAM lol

  • If done on purpose, it would have been a coorect red card. This was not on purpose, so Van Persie incorrectly got the red card.

An indirect free kick is the only action the referee could have taken. No yellow or red card. According to the Laws of the Game, that is...

  • I think it can only be seen as dangerous play though. Which in some cases, i think can warrant red cards. Its a wrong decision though, and shoulda been just a booking for the 'dangerous play' part of it. I hate Van Persie btw, but admire his talent, but it's a bad decision.

  • I can't see how they can give Robin a red card for an accidental kick while they give Rustu a yellow for a deliberate two leged kick in the face

  • defanitly not worth a red ? the other guy should have used his foot, it was defanitly low enough, and RVP also admited to his actions.

  • it was a red card offence but tht doesnt mean he did it on purpose.....he didnt even see the player comin......but in football u have t b careful all the time n make sure u dont hurt ne1 even by mistake no matter how highthe tempo of the game is like arsenal plays not like dirty players lik joey barton, rooney most of the english for tht matter who doesnt hav talent n wud be glad to break the opponent's legs

  • ronaldos a girly poofter... van persie aint...

  • exactly RVP is AWESOME. unlike that fag.."CR7" or whatever. Gay piece of shit.

  • very very harsh sending off. yellow at least, eyes were on the ball all the time.

  • This reminds me an old song

    Wo Wo Wo Woooooo

every body was Kung Fu fighting, Huhh!

Van Persie did a high kick, Hahh!

he was a Kung Fu Holland man

    got the red card timing.

    just a little fighting.

  • RVP gets the ball :p The other player just got in the way!

  • yellow card offence...! there is no way in the world it should have been red. Eyes were on the ball the whole time

  • totally agree. his eyes were on the ball the whole time and he got the ball.

it wasn't even a challenge, he was attempting to control it.

it's a high foot but thats it. yellow card maximum.

it's really disappointing when referees overreact because it looks worse than it is.

  • Eyes were always on the ball, reckless and yellow card yes but a red? no way

  • Now i wanna see an english commentators reaction

  • That was at most a yellow for high foot, van persie was only trying to control the ball

  • He was looking at the ball the whole time for fuks sake?

  • how the fuck did not the ref see that was an accident?

  • OMGWTFISWRONGWITHYOU? What has happened to your head? Are you so GODDAMN blind that you can't see VP was looking at the ball the whole time? Eat shit and die in a fire.

  • This is such a silly red card that ref should take some glasses because robin did not mean a bit of this tackle! I think i only should give him a warning for something like this!

  • He didn't mean it...

  • PlayerFint you are weird than. Van Persie rocks... so doeas Arsenal

  • Am Arsenal Fan but to be honest i hate Van Persie !

  • you are not a fan but ok.

  • Yes I'm

  • no, you arent. if so, why the fuck do you have Gaynaldo as your picture on profile?

  • lol old pic

  • old pic? have you been manu fan before or something? and why don't you change it now scumbag?

  • fag, you're a disgrace to all norwegians. just cos ronaldo can be a dick, and you don't like him, doesn't make him gay or a crappy player. go shove your head up your ass and learn a little something about yourself before telling others about themselves!

  • than ur not a fan.... dumbass

  • accident or not it's still dangerous play, and a red card. The foot is about 5 and a half feet off the ground, studs showing.

compare it to a raised elbow also a straight red card with or without intent.

  • Look man, he doesn't even notice the other player. How can that be a red card? If he sees the player and run straight to him and then hit him in the face like this,(it still could be his intention to hit the ball) he should deserve a red card. In this case v Persie didn't even knew what happened. Deffinately no red card. Yellow would do just fine. Everybody was probably expecting that anyway.

  • intent is irrelevant, if you swing your elbow and make contact with someones head it's DANGEROUS PLAY = RED CARD. this is no different.

  • Well maybe its a red card if you do it exactly by the rules. Then you're maybe right. But 99% of the refs would give here a yellow card. Some of them not even a card, because its just an accident. Would you give a red card?

  • Hes raised his foot head height instead of challenging with his head. Just daft play regardless of intentions

  • OBVIOUSLY an accident...

he clearly was looking at the ball

when he raised his legs and when he

saw that it was heading toward the defender,

he raise him arms as if to try and stop himself.even he looked shock after the red card as he knew it was an accident

  • this should only be a yellow card, dangerous play for having his foot up that high with the studs leading, but it was unintentional as he was watching the ball (and got the ball first).

  • I Agree

  • its a foul if u raise ur legs that high...I should know ...

  • still deserves a red card, you arseholes obviously know fuck all about football.

  • ha....and if YOU think that was a red card its obvious YOU know fuck all u twat...

  • rofl he looks at the ref, not the player's face he just smashed

    Your a legend van PErsie

  • he kicked him in the shoulder.

  • because he didnt see the guy asshole until it was too late he was going to trap the ball

  • why are ppl saying this isnt a red...HE KICKED HIM IN THE FACE...

  • ur retarded xD

  • far as im concerned, rvp got fouled, won the balls and got knocked into

hes watching the ball and the defender is behind him

why the fuck should it be his fault if the defender puts his head there?ffs

  • do u not know how to play soccer ? of course that is a red

  • shouldn't have even been a foul

  • Yellow card, yes

    red card, very harsh

  • dont think that was intentional

  • i´d like to know what all the ARSEnal fans would have said if the defender kicked van persie like that? they would all say its a red card, but because it was one of their players they say it wasnt intentional and he doesnt deserve to eb sent off and so on...

  • Im a arsenal fan and that was definately a red. Dangerous play ftw XP

  • We would be angry of course you moron. How would you react if some player kicked your player in the face? Dangerous play = red, no matter what strip you have on. And very clever 'ARSEnal' grow the fuck up.
