  • This really isn't a theater movie. It's more like a nothing-to-watch-on-a-rainy-day movie.

  • The best book. It ain't a comic. It's more.

  • the image and quality of this movie was amazing !!! other than that as always of course the comic book is what's all about .

  • Loved the movie. I hadn't read the book, so I didn't really know too much about what to expect, but I really liked it. Yeah, it's sad when you read a lot of the negative stuff other people who hadn't read the book said when they saw the film. I definitely need to get the graphic novel myself sometime.

  • @slave2moonlight

It's a great comic book movie for adults eh? very complex and violent with a good story. The graphic novel is amazing i adored it for 16 years since i was 14 and has been one of my faves, i was excited they made it into a movie and saw it twice in theaters. You should review this movie.

  • Wuzblade EspioArtwork31

  • What's The Music?

  • @mrspideyguy it's brand x music- inevitable

  • @mrspideyguy Brand X music "Uprising" ;)

  • it was pretty good but not great

  • wuts the song at :19?

  • i've hated this ad since i first saw it. it implies that Watchmen is a super action-packed thrill ride, but it's really a much better and much different story than that. Snyder himself said that it wasn't an action film. At least the book still keeps the brilliant message its has always had

  • You know what. I think I understand your opinion and I generally agree with it, but I actually think this TV-spot is suprisingly great, when it comes to portraying what Watchmen is and isn't. It's absolutely not your average super hero movie, it's wonderful in a very special way and it's also beautiful.

  • Hopefully it will be as good as people who have seen it in early screenings say it is.

    5/5!

    Cool TV spot.

  • I would be disappointed if Watchmen wasn't rated R. If it wasn't rated R, they couldn't go all the way and put in everything that we expect from the graphic novel.

    Can't wait.

  • Ive got in though ive booked the tickets wiv no prblems well realeved dat graphic novel much better

  • I'm so glad it's rated R.

I'm 14, but in my country, nobody fucking cares about movie ratings. I'm just going to buy the tickets and walk in the premiere with no problems.

    BRING ON MARCH 6TH!

  • 18A in Canda.... -.-

  • i know, it sucks. i remember back in january all the posters only said it was 14A, it sucks ass that they changed it

  • yup me too but looks awesome almost like the book

  • i think theres a sex scene, thats why. but i don't know.

  • there's one rape scene, a dog's head split open, Mr. Manhattan walks around naked, sex scene, Rorschach, Rorschach, Rorschach, Rorschach

  • plus there's also some strong graphic violence. But yeah, the sex scene too

  • obviously. It's R because there's sex, nudity, language, and a lot of other things. hence "Graphic Novel". Oh, I saw this post saying, that some person was surprised the movie is R and the game is M. And they read the GN. can you believe it?

  • its a 18 in the uk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want to read the novel but if you go buy it do they ask for your parents permission since my friends tell me it is a pretty bad graphic novel bad as in sex and violence so message me if you can help fyi im 15

  • Yeah my dad isnt interested in this book he frankly wont pay attention but he is actually excited for the movie.

  • does nayone knw what age its for? xxx

  • Lol I just read my dad's 20 year-old version...Its a classic!

  • RATED R FTW xD

  • looks good

  • Eh i think it might be like 300 they might just focus on the effects rather than the storyline but who knows.

  • The world will shout " SAVE US!"

    and I'll wisper "no"

    XD best line everXD

  • the novel was probably one of the greatest things i've read. :D

  • This could be the best superhero movie since Dark knight or could be the biggest flop of the year. But I still like to see it.

  • I agree it could have that potential... I mean the graphic novel is epic

  • Read the graphic novel and it's amazing.

  • I can't wait until this comes out....if it is anything even close to the book, it's going to be awesome.

  • You mean you haven't read it?! You should be ashamed of yourself!

  • true I think you should read it before watching n adaptation of it, the graphic novel is a fantastic read!

  • They got the Rorshack fire escape scence at yahoo

  • Go to a Barnes and Noble, Borders, or whatever big bookstore is nearest to you and look in the comics/graphic novels/manga section. Chances are it'll be there in at least one, if not two forms.

I got it at my college's store, myself. Happy Hunting, it's a great read! ^^

  • only watch it if you have read the book. And it was no surprise that it would be rated R there is Rape,Murder,Sex,Tons of Swearing,Violence, lots of talk about prostitutes and many more things.

  • It's hard to explain why it's R rated without giving spoils. Strong language, brutal violence, nudity, and sex to name just a few. This isn't a comic movie like any that's been made, and I would advise people to not take young teenagers to see this movie.

  • why not? I'm a teenager and I've seen more brutal films that i can count

  • What brutal films have you seen?

  • - "Alerted:" this movie has over 200 death's and over 30 rape scenes. Oh yeah and it's real with American soldiers in Iraq.

Every brutal Japanese film out there because Japanese films are more burtal than any R rated american movie.

And I have seen Watchmen. THREE TIMES. And it's no where near as violent as a Japanese film would be.

  • I saw this japanese movie called ricky, and it was as bloody as hell

  • It's not only the violence and the sex, I think this movie's story and all of its messages will go right over your head. All you're going to be thinking is "hahaha a naked blue man...ahaha look at his penis! omg a penis!!!!" and "his mask is so cool". I don't think many teenagers would be able to handel a rape scene or brutal dog murdering. This is a very deep story that many adults can't even comprehend and appreciate fully. You would have to be a pretty smart kid to understand it all.

  • Thats a awful generalisation, i'm a teenager and i've read and been a Watchmen fan for ages. Kids arn't as naive these days as they were years ago, personaly i feel as i've thoroughly understood and captured the messages that Watchmen evokes.

And your quotes of what will supposedly be most teenager's reactions are insulting.

  • i cant tell you how much i agree with your statement. im a teenager too and i read all of alan moore's books which are loaded with adult material, and i understand it fully =)

    yey for alan moore! =P

  • No, it's not a generalization, it's a fact. It's also fact that that there are exceptions to every rule, and you could be one of them. Whether or not you actually do understand all of what the material has to offer, or just claiming you do because you think it makes you look cool is really unprovable over the internet.

Why would it be insulting? It's the truth. Most teenagers aren't mature enough to handle it. Again, there are exceptions, but the majority fit the profile.

  • Once again, there are exceptions but quite a few fit the bill.

  • what?, i didn't post another comment

  • I posted to the last comment of your's before this.

  • It makes plenty of sense if you read it all, and not skip the boring parts i.e. The things at the end of each chapter and the Pirate sidestory.

  • I disagree.

  • if you read the comic you'd totally understand

  • Yeah, and strong violence and language

  • with any luck.. some brutal night owl iI/silk spectre scenes ;0)

  • I just found out this is rated 18 by the BBFC, for those in the US who don't know what that means, it means no one under 18 can go see it! Basically it's the equivalent of NC-17 (except it doesn't mean box office death). Pretty cool though, finally a big budget comic book movie that isn't aimed at pre-teens (although I thought The Dark Knight was superb, and very gloomy considering it was a summer blockbuster).

  • ha ha yes it is a very R- rated comic book If i had kids i wouldnt let them go see or read the comic book until they were 17 or older.... i am 17 right now and there is still stuff that is weird in that comic

  • 2darkskies109

in a way you are right, none of the CHARACTERS are villains, but the true villain in the story is society itself

  • Yes, they are almost all of them like Batman, just very fit and good detectives, some with gadgets to help them. The funny thing is that the only one who has actual superpowers can do ANYTHING. (As long as it has to do with physics. Can't read minds though.) Strange how hard it is to actually imagine how far that "anything" goes. As in, he can divide into many people at once, put every person in a mob back in their homes in a second, turn gigantic, travel to Mars instantly, etc.

  • Does anybody know the name of the two songs in this tv spot???

  • There are no TRUE villians in this movie. All the characters are "Heroes" acting according to what they think is best.

Its up to you to decide who is taking things too far, Who is in the wrong.

  • (RANDOM COMMENT)

Why the Hell is 'Who let the Dogs out???' in recommended videos for this????????????

  • this will be amazing

  • Alanll this talk of why is the film R rated! just wondering if it will have the scene where the comedian shoots his pregnant lover dead.

  • It is in the movie.

  • thanks ;0

  • The nuclear mushroom at the end...BOOM, HERE COMES THE BOOM, READY OR NOT.

  • "the world will look up and shout save us....and ill whisper,no"

I love that line, gives me chills everytime

  • i just have a question i forgot but what to that guy who wears that lather mask did his faced get burned off or something

  • who rorschach? the guy with the moving mask? no hes just TOTTALY INSANE. its true

  • his pregant viatnamese lover cut his face with a broken bottle, the comedian (guy in the mask) then shot her

  • 3/6 is my birthday. And that day cannot come any faster.

  • 3/6/09 cant come any sooner

  • spoilers/reviews are already out....

  • Thank goodness its R rated.

  • these are one of the reasons y i think DC Comics are better than marvel... well in my opinion it is...

  • wuts the song towards the end??????

  • This is going to be a great movie.

  • hell no the best

  • I object to them using the term "super hero"

  • I agree. Dr. Manahtten only.

  • but Alan moore refers to dr manhattan as a superhero in the book. the other watchmen are masked vigilantes.

  • True but thats only one superhero and the trailer says "superheroes". Oh well, doesnt really matter.

  • I agree, I rewatched the trailer, and it does make out as if they are all superheros. ;)

  • Dr. Manhattan (blue dude) is the only one who has real powers the other ones are vigilantes

  • I know! I mearly read the trailor wrong.

  • Not to mention he's the only one with superhero like abilities, unless you count Ozymandias's (totally had to google that for correct spelling) intelligence.

  • is the scene with laurie in the fire from the novel? what about manhatten at a school? and did i see manhatten's face in that blu explosion in the end?

  • yes, it's not a school, and perhaps.

laurie and dan take the owl ship and go rescue people from that burning tenement

Manhattan reassembles in the cafeteria of the laboratory

i don't wanna talk about your last question cuz its spoilerific

  • thanks for not spoiling anything. i should be careful what i ask for, i've just gotta wait a couple weeks.

  • They have been doing a great job creating multiple, engaging trailers for this movie using the same footage in each and every one. We haven't gotten anything new! Less than a month to go...

  • did anyone else notice that dr. manhattan's junk is censored at : 022

  • Why the fuck is it rated R? I just saw a tv trailer on MTV and i was shocked lol

  • Have you read the comic? If you have it's pretty obvious why it's rated R.

  • It's a very violent, bloody, sexual, and dark story. Not a kid's story.

  • im 16 and its not that bad,ive read it and loved it

  • well, I wouldn't consider a 16 year old a kid in the terms that I meant in my earlier comment. glad you loved it - hope you enjoy the movie too.

  • i think it is rated R because its super violent and a lot of sexual stuff

  • damn, there is sooooo many reasons this movie is gonna b rated R, its not a kids super hero movie, way darker

  • 1. It is extremely violent.

    2. There's a rape scene.

    3. There's a full sex scene.

    4. The kids will not understand this film, they probably will want to see a new superhero movie, but it is not. This is completely different from any kind of superhero movie we've seen before.

  • Mojito -- I know there's a rape scene. Haven't read it yet, put it off for over 20 years and now will bite the bullet. But whaddya mean full sex scene?

  • Well there is a sex scene between Silk Spectre and Nite Owl

  • Sex scene between Silk Spectre and Nite Owl. I read in Total Film that nothing will be censored.

  • i cant believe this movie isn't in 3-D

  • But it is in Imax format.

  • Pity 300 was such a crappy movie. Makes me paranoid this will be even worse.

  • wasnt 300's story not that great anyway? Its my understanding that 300 was made incredibly accurate to the source material--for better or worse

  • Yes but it's the same director not the same script. The overall plot for the watchmen comic is dick shitting amazing if i don't say so myself. But, my opinion is a bit biased since I have loved the comic long before i heard of 300. If they stick to the source material this movie will be fine as it was already written in a cinematic fashion as it was.

  • Not only are there Tits, there is tons of Gore.

But they can't show that stuff in a tv spot meant to appael to mainstream retards who know nothing about the comic.

  • Get off your high horse.

  • I would,but I need help getting down :o

  • ...AND IN YOUR DARKEST HOUR!

  • So take him in to see it anyways? You did read it right? There was a SEX SCENE in the comic book. He's already seen why it's raided R if he read the book. :P

  • Well not just sex, a scene containing an attempted rape as well.

  • This is true, but I refrained from mentioning that as it is a huge plot point and anyone that hasn't read the book might not have wanted to know. :P

  • I fucking hate the "BUM BUM" guitar riff. Hella corny. Oh well though, it's just a TV promo.

  • Totally agree on the guitar. That was retarded corny.

    Still stoked though.

  • let's just say that Watchmen it for teenagers and adults. I mean come on you don't think teenagers here about the dirty things in the world?? I'm a teen and the novel didn't make me go out and do something horrific.

  • Yeah, what's the name of the song?

  • My history professor can point out each and every time "Zeitgeist" is wrong. When you gather enough intelligence to look up what the term "Zeitgeist" means, you'll realize you've been swept up in one with that film.

Not everything is a conspiracy. Occam's razor, gentlemen. Live it, love it.

  • Zeitgeist may be false but the conspiracy isnt, sorry to spoil your fun.

  • i must know the song!

  • What's the song at the end?

  • Haha, gotta love how they're like "You've never seen Superheroes like this!" making it sound like some hip Spider-Manish film! hahaha.

The thing is, the statement actually is true for once. Yup, rape, genocide, cold blooded murder, the JFK assassination, Watergate, adultery/statutory rape, all by the GOOD GUYS.

Never seen heroes like this. People don't even know what they're in for.

  • That's the idea, isn't it? Watchmen isn't a superhero story - its a story about superheros.

  • Well put. One could argue that it's basically "The Incredibles" for adults (case in point, that film borrows heavily from the Watchmen graphic novel). A commentary on superheroes and how the world would be different (not in a good way) if they existed.

  • I don't think anyone could argue that. It's two completely different plots and way different kinds of characters. I have read the graphic novel, and I'm not going to assume you have or have not, but I am just stating that I am educated on Watchmen. And in the end of The Incredibles, people did realize that super heroes were good. In this story, that conclusion never comes in and no one is really a super hero except Dr. Manhattan. The rest are just vigilantes.

  • True, but you have to admit that there are SOME similarities: the outlawing of superheroes, certain heroes being unable to move on with their lives (such as Dan), and a staged attack by an engineered monstrosity. Granted there are major differences between both stories, but ever since I read Watchmen, I couldn't help but notice certain shared elements. What they both have in common, though, is that they are both commentaries on superheroes (and we can agree that Watchmen is far superior).

  • The Incredibles was obviously influenced by Watchmen. However, it appears that superheroes were outlawed for different reasons. In Watchmen, it was because vigilantes undermined the police. In the Incredibles, it was because of the supers trying to be good Samaritans. One thing I did find interesting was how the Incredibles continued on the idea in Watchmen that capes would be dangerous, since the Dollar Bill was killed when his cape snagged onto a door, and he was shot to death.

  • Exactly what I meant. They're not the same stories, and yes, superheroes were outlawed for different reasons, but Watchmen's influence on The Incredibles is there. And you know everyone whose seen that movie and hasn't read Watchmen will be shouting "Hey, they just ripped off The Incredibles!"

  • But if you look far enough into just about any comic book story, you could say that the majority of them are similar. Like in Spider-man 3 people are starting to not like Spider-man so much. But I can see where you are coming from, and I do agree that Watchmen is far greater than The Incredibles. And The Incredibles also in a lot of respects borrowed ideas from other Super hero movies.

  • no there are loads of superhero teams

  • They aren't a group, they started out as the Minutemen but that got broken up and the second generation 'superheros' tried to make a group but it didn't work.

  • dude, the Fantastic 4 are Marvel, not DC...

  • Fantatsic 4 is from Marvel.

  • Fantastic Four are Marvel and it has absolutely no similar aspects to Watchmen.

  • you got it all wrong Rorschach's voice was sped up so the commercial would not last longer if you see the other trailers its sounds better.

  • Yep, this portion of his dialog (his journal entry) can be find in full on the watchmen website.

  • yeah these are mainstream tv quickies, the longer trailers are better

  • I see alot of people talking about Rorschach's voice sounding different... Think about it... his narrations from his journal in the comic book were written in a different voice in the comic then when he's speaking in character a Rorchach in person. I'm guissing you'll find alot of fluctuation in his voice in the film.

  • The tag line you have never seen superheroes like this makes no sense because the superheroes are based on other superheroes

  • Its more to go with how they are morally, as well as the stance they take in life. And when you look at it that were then that tag line makes a lot of sense, I think the actions of these heroes are going to shock the viewing public, e.g. Comedians and Sally Jupiter scene. Thats not how you expect a hero to behave, hence you have never seen superheroes like this.
