  • Love davis :)

  • UC Davis post grad protest chant. .."Welcome to McDonalds. May I take your order?"

  • Face it, as of November 18, this school is a disgrace. I would never pay this much for my son or daughter to be assaulted by a predator like John Pike.

  • my goal is to transfer to this school from a CC, im in my sophomore year and im not gna give up until i step into that campus!

  • Youtube search: UedVxoP8CTc More Aggie Action!!

  • A great place to go to school. You might not want to demonstrate any use of the 1st Amendment there, though, especially near the "police."

  • Hi. i currently live in the Bay Area and i was wondering if Davis is good school for anthropology and Latin American Studies. I also want to know if Davis's study abroad offers classes in Cuba. I was planning to go to SFSU since i know they offer study abroad trips to Cuba. I also want to know if the cost of living @ Davis is cheaper than in the East Bay.

  • omg thank you so much

  • Don't come to UCD for landscape architecture. You'll be disappointed. Go to Berkeley or UGA.

  • Go Aggies!

    :3

I visited the campus, after I got accepted... and I adore it.

  • I'll be an Aggie this fall! :D

  • 3:09

  • I'm looking at vet schools and UC Davis seems really cool. Is it best to go from UC Davis animal sciences to UC Davis veterinary medicine? Or would a student coming from another undergrad school have the same chance?

  • @akualtekefan if you're from a different school you have just as much as a chance to get into the vet school as you do coming from davis undergrad. it really doesn't help your chances if you went to davis as an undergrad. however we do offer the animal science major which is really nice since a lot of schools don't have it (you don't need to major in animal sci to apply for vet school either)

  • Did he really call himself outgoing? lol

  • how close is it to the beach like an hour n a half?

  • Besides our academic programs, research, and adult stars(ahem Mary Anne)....

  • got my decision yesterday. i'm in!

  • KEVJUMBA GOES TO UC DAVIS!!! (caps)

  • @chvyant he does?!

  • I'm on the waiting list :S

  • former ASUCD President right there.

  • Omg i got accepted as well!!! :D what college?

  • the bike capital...woahhh

  • i got accepted!!!!!!!!!

    however im a outstate student...

im wondering if i can pay it.....T_T

  • @TheAlexlam mee tooooo! but I am really scared.

  • @TheAlexlam This may be a personal question, but what kind of GPA do u need to get into UC Davis?

  • @mshyper12 the average GPA is around 4.0

  • @TheAlexlam Well, it's hard to get a 4.0 at this school (ranked in the top 100 schools in usa) So if i'm getting like 3.6's or something like that, u think i can get in?

  • @mshyper12 of course. you can have like a 3.5 and lower and get in if you're lucky. just work your hardest and you'll get in! do community service hours and get great SAT scores.

  • @TheAlexlam Thanks for the advice Mr. Lam. (Kind of funny that my best friend's last name is Lam!) I'll try getting more involved in school now and aim for that 4.0 or above!

  • @TheAlexlam You lucky bastard, How's you do it?

  • I got in yesterday! and im so excited but i heard its in the middle of no where! D:

  • @ilyforever023 Don't make your decision until you have visited, I thought that too and then visited and loved the feeling of a small college town. Besides Sacramento is right next door.. I choose them over UCSD,UCI and USF. It also doesn't hurt that their 40th in the country..

  • @ilyforever023 I just graduated from UC Davis. Here's my opinion.

Because it is out-of-nowhere, you lack connection with the outside world like UC Berkeley or UCSD, especially if you plan to work after grad.

As for on campus food, a peanut-butter sandwich is $3.5 at the Silo. A bottle of 99-cent Arizona Tea costs $1.25.

Academic wise, the professors hold lots of office hour to help you, but they will make the questions you ask won't show up on the test. TRUST ME, I AM A FIFTH YEAR.

  • I got accepted today :) Which place is more active socially? I thought Irvine was a quiet place but apparently people say this area is more secluded.

  • @coralin378 Irvine is odd, due to that face that their a commuter school.

  • I see your point, but I don't consider 110 degree summers as spoiled. To each their own I suppose. My two cents is that if you go to, or work for UCD than it's okay their is no point to pay the outrageous prices for the ugly homes here. I'll take the Bay Area, traffic and all.

  • @72chevelless530

agreed on the ugly houses, my house was roach infested when i was there

  • MY DREAM!

  • Davis is a great school and we do like to have fun even if were all about academics. Davis is small town but our campus is close-knit and we students care about each other.

  • actually its known for

engineering, biological sciences, medical school, vet school, business, economics, spanish, and most importantly agriculture!

  • @budda10000 That's an overstatement. There is no business degree in Davis. The closest is Agriculture Resource Economics, which is about agriculture and farms,

  • love the green screening... very cool video!

  • Great place to go to college. Don't let this nice video fool you, some of the craziest parties I ever went to were here. Sure, Chico has more off the wall parties, but that is because they are brain dead. At Davis you can party one night and expect to see the same people the next day in the library. Not just a bunch of meat heads.

  • @MotoUSMC craziest party? I definitely don't think so man. There is nothing to do here, even Rite Aid closes at 8PM. North Davis don't even have enough street lights to bike home.

  • @walkingon2001 Dude, what's your problem? Boring people are bored in Davis. Graduated in 08 and had the best 4 years of my life in Davis. Worked hard and played hard. Davis was the perfect balance between academics and social life. Go grab a Wiki at Bernardo's and chill out some man.

  • @norcalhella so, tell me what's so good about Davis? People are all nice and the place is all quiet. You can't get around the real world by being all nice like a nice guy. If you worked hard if you are taking bio or chem classes, if you are a econ major, you are just plain dumb, because those classes are very hard. I lived in Davis, never liked it. People were nice, but VERY stubborn, 'cause they just follow the rules. You gonna get owned in the real world.

  • @walkingon2001 Hmm....living in San Francisco...earning a good salary....real world has been pretty darn good....I'm still thankful for my UCD education and experiences

  • @norcalhella mediocre school for mediocre life, if being not homeless is what you are looking for, UCD is more than enough, but that is not enough, with the education I got from UCD. How many successful people have graduated from UCD? And also, the whole hippie scene just bothers me.

  • I can't stand davis. Good school I suppose but living here sucks ass. Hot, muggy valley weather and expensive rent/home prices. I guess if your a rich hippie then it would be your place in the world...

  • Really? I'm from a poor family and I'm a Libertarian and I love the place. I graduated two years ago and am looking to go back for Biz School.

  • @72chevelless530 I can't agree less. I am not hippie or rich.

  • I'm currently a senior at UC Davis and I strongly suggest you save your money, or your parents money, and attend a junior college first; figure out what you want to major in before coming to Davis. In addition, it's a good way to get the general ed. out of the way and to keep up or raise your GPA. This is just a suggestion.

  • True that. Exactly the way I did it. I went to Sacramento City College IN Davis. College life w/ out the outrageous costs.

  • @theidiotslapper what is a junior college? sorry I don't know what that means I'm still a junior in high school and I just toured UC Davis and loved it. Would you say you enjoyed your years in UC Davis?

  • @lamina2ooo

    Hey lamina2ooo

A junior college is usually a small, local, two-year college that is a lot cheaper per unit than a university. You can check out a broader definition on Wikipedia. Classes at these institutions can be amazing. I was fortunate enough to have several academically, famous professors at the JC I attended and that made my years at Davis so much easier. I enjoyed most of my time at UC Davis, but I had a bad roommate situation my last year that cost me over two-grand.

  • @theidiotslapper That is what I'm doing. Going to JC and saving like crazy! I live in SoCal and after last years increase I had no choice. Davis is my top choice to transfer to. And thanks for the advice. It's the sure way to go

  • @niseron2010

    That's awesome.

You should be able to transfer straight to Davis using the Articulation Agreement once you completed all the required courses.

I'm sure you'll do very well, but I wish you mountains of success all the same.

    Peace

  • lol @ the random appearances of the mascot

  • can anybody tell me the about the genetics program at Davis and some of the opportunities that the department offer in terms of internships?

  • how is the psychology program over there compared to UC irvine and UC SB?

  • @MorrisonIli Davis rank #23 in Psychology. There are a lot of people majored in Psychology. A good number of them did not do well in Economics or Engineering, so they changed their major to psychology. It is a lot easier to graduate, a lot less units. You must try to fail.

  • @walkingon2001 And about as useful as a piece of paper I printed myself, unless of course you want to go into a a related field. If your just going to college to get a degree your never going to use again then don't waist your time. I made plenty of money before I came to UCD. I just decided to go into a medical career.

  • @budda10000 UC Davis still a very good school. But it is boring and dominated by hippies. You have to fit the type to live here.

If you are from NY or SF, you won't be used to here. People follow the rules and they are very stubborn. I get pissed driving in a 30 mph zone, because everyone drives 25mph. It's annoyingly slow, especially if you are late to class.

  • Actually, UC Davis graduate school for chemical engineering is rated really well. It's about even with UCLA. I'm planning to apply to chemical engineering graduate school soon. There are few universities that have such a biochemical engineering program (we have classes and lots of professors working on different projects.) I'm actually a biological systems engineer, but I am taking/took some chemical engineering classes this quarter.

  • Davis' engineering program is really good. Civil engineering is really good here too- there are lots of civil engineering firms around and in Sacramento. Career fairs usually have plethora of civil engineering internship opportunities. A lot of its other engineering majors are rated highly.

  • how about chemical engineering ? i just got admitted to UCD as a chemical enigneering transfer student.. :D

  • yeah im wondering if uc davis is good for electrical engineering as well? or which other uc's are good for electrical/comp engineering

  • Did anyone get into the Animal Science program? How do you like it? Would you suggest it? Do you need a super high ACT/SAT score? Do you need to be really good at math?

  • @JumboShrimp87 Animal Science is about the hardest program to get in. Of my undergrad I only heard one person major in it. You definitely can do it, but I don't believe there is an undergrad major adviser for it, though I might be wrong, you should double check.

  • could someone plz help me out im confused between UC Irvine and Davis and want 2 be a pediatricain.....and want 2 gave a social life 2...plz help!!!!

  • I go to UCD, and im pre-med, and to answer ur question, UCD has a better children hospital, but in social life UCI is better. However, if you are just going undergrad, it doesn't matter where you go cos you have to graduate before applying to the Med Schls. Hope u find that helpful

  • @rachel1621 Definitely, UCI.

  • I Got into UC Davis! But i turned it down for UC Santa Barbara! =]

    Go gauchos!!!!!!!!!

  • how dare u!!!!! jk.

  • not even gonna lie. davis is a boring ass place.

  • @rimrecker21 HAhah, I agree, man, I wanna get out now!!!!!!!!!

  • is UC Davis hard to get in?!! :'((

  • depends on ur grade and most important;y ur personal statement as well how you as a student took advantaged of the resources that was provided at ur schhool.

  • Oh okay. But what do you mean by taking advantage of the resources provided at my school?

  • it's kinda in the middle. it's not as hard as say UCSD, UCLA, or Berkeley. But being eligible to begin with is the key. If you got a 4.0 and good SAT scores, you're prolli a shoo in. But it is a Top 50 school, 44th in the nation according to US News and World Report

  • When you say 4.0 GPA do you mean weighted or unweighted??

and alsoo, how do they calculate Honors classes?

    Thanks! :D

  • well.....unweighted for sure you'd get in. but for a weighted gpa and average SAT scores...it's up in the air. i think it really depends on the major you apply for. i'm a civil engineering major, and i don't think that's as hard to get into as some other ones. i'm not exactly sure which of Davis's programs are top in the nation, but i'm sure it's much harder to get into those majors. Just like berkeley, your chances are reduced if you apply to be an engineering major.

  • i got in twice.first as a freshman.i had 1310 on the SAT 1(770math,540verbal,and old SAT 1),I had a 640 writing, 740 math 2c, and 570 spanish on the SAT 2, and I was admitted as a civil engineering major.I had a weighted HS GPA of about a 3.9..and I only took 2 honors courses and 2 ap courses in all my HS days (spanish 4, math analysis, AP Gov, AP calc, and no honors english classes). i got admitted the next time as a lower division transfer from ucla, which is a lot harder, w/ only a 3.1

  • @f0bb1grL These days it is harder to get in. I've heard my cousin's HS friends with 3.5 GPA and 2 honors can't even get in.

  • I GOT ACCEPTED TODAY! SO EXCITED!

  • oh man hahaha I JUST GOT ACCEPTED TODAY TOO!!!... good job to those who did...

  • i got accepted today too. yay!!

  • I got accepted as well. So where is it around Sacramento? And how long it will take me to get there from San Jose? Also I got into their engineering school is that competitive?

  • Well have you visited Sacramento from San Jose? It's that much of a traveling time minus 20 minutes. Btw, you should go visit the campus.

  • My dream school!!!~ I hella want to go there.

But with a 3.8, I'm not sure if I can get in =[

my friend got a 4.0 and he still got rejected

  • I got a 3.83 and I just got accepted today!!! Even though my SAT scores sucked!!

  • I just got accepted today! yay~

  • What classes did you take?!

  • well it also depends on the classes you take and your e.c. activities you take in HS...AP classes would really help and also clubs and sports :]

  • I got in. lol going there this fall

  • is it possible to find out the name of the theme music used in this video?

  • Is the number of applications going to increase next year because Kevjumba goes there?

  • i WANT to go!!

i just dont know if I can get in... Some kids who have gotten 4.0 there whole highschool career and STILL have not got in. I get just ok grades.

I dont think its realastic that I will get in. But i want to so bad its my dream college and my dream to be a vet..AHH

  • im a soph. in highschool and have been dreaming to get into this school ever sence I could remember. Because I want to be a vet, I have had thje dreme ever sence I was in diapers!

  • You should go!

  • This school needs to make easier admissions for transmissions. Im working on getting to school of engineering.

  • this is the school keevjumba goes to

  • haha yeah i just found out he lives in the dorm building next to mines. so thats pretty cool. haha

  • he lived in my aunties building..just down the hall :]

  • Being a UCD undergrad, i have to say it is soooooo over rated

  • can u elaborate on that? If they'res something wrong with this school, I wanna know bcuz Im tied between two other great colleges right now. Eliminating one would help.

  • Has anyone seen KevJumba there?

  • He goes there

  • WOOOOO UCD FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

  • UC Davisss hell yeaaa!

  • '12!

  • Go Ags!
