@sarabroetje im sure you can, because a digital camera you can... plus if you cant you can just use program to make it black and white for your editing.
What if you set it to Night mode to set a baseline for everything, ad then switch to Manual to fine tune it. Would that work? Or does setting it back to manual just discard the previous settings?
what's strange is that the night test footage of the much cheaper HF 100 seems to be much more fluid at capturing motion than the night test footage i've seen for the XH A1, i.e. the shutter speed doesn't seem to drop.

@sarabroetje i think you will have to record in colour then do that in editing, but it probably can. it is like £2k
