  • i would give mine raw meat but they wont take it...ive tried so many times so i keep them on a dry food diet but not that marshalls crap that people feed their ferrets. they are happy and healthy ^^

  • No - Def dead this one !... Re feeding yours - pepperonis !...No - what you want to try is raw meat - Liver, Kidneys, (Pig or Lamb) and try to tease her with it - push it into her face & away, and again & again....she'll go to grab it eventually..how old is she ?

  • The only problem I have with this is if it was alive. Other then that I don't mind, it should be the same for everyone else.

HELP: I can't get my ferret to touch meat, I've tried chicken, beef and pepperonis. But she won't even look at it? How do I get her to eat?

  • lol my ferret hershy like potatoes cheese chocolate (of coarse) sour cream and mac and cheese lol hes a people food eater!! and he like cheerios the honey ones and the chocolate ones but he does eat ferret food xD ( i have 4 ferrets btw :D)

  • all ferret owners should give their ferrets raw meat or live prey at least twice a year and keep them keen on their natural instinctual need to want to hunt for prey

  • I've got my own ferret and you can't imagine how much excitining is to watch a ferret catch a live prey. Who ever says this is sick, you are sick because if you had a ferret you would denay him of his natural instinct... like humans imagine you can't eat because some other bastard thinks that eating meat, veggies etc... is killing alive creatures so you have to live in pills based on vitamins with no taste at all (yummy thats food -_-). Get a life, this is not against nature.

  • @haxibiss Cats naturally want to kill and eat mice and rabbits, yet how many cat owners out there buy them mice for dinner? Dogs are basically wolves, why aren't we feeding them live prey? You can satisfy their natural instincts by giving them toys and playing with them. That way you still stimulate them, but without teaching them to kill, which could lead to serious problems if say they happen to come across someone's pet rabbit.

  • @fringelife - Cats have been domesticated by Man over the years & yet they still instinctively know to hunt & kill..... dogs are indeed like wolves - yet they can be trained (unlike cats) to only kill when instructed to ..... there is no 'teaching' them to kill...they instinctively know & want to.. but controlled....& and if a pet rabbit wandered into my garden ... the dog would take it as wild & if told to.. it'd be that bunnies last breath.

  • @ferretman37 My point is just simply that you don't HAVE to feed ferrets live prey like some here who are making it sound like you're depriving them if you don't. Really I could care less if you do it, it's your pet. I'm just saying that playing with them and giving them toys does stimulate their natural instincts much like it does for dogs and cats.

  • @fringelife all my cats used to go outside to hunt ( dead mice was once found on my sister's pillow :] ).and they used to get some fresh meat.as well as my dogs.they loved it.it's nature. someone might say that the video could offend people.but if that offends you- don't watch it.don't get me wrong.everyone is allowed to have an opinion and yeah you can sort of stimulate them but still.... don't think any owner do any wrong by giving predators raw meat

  • @fringelife oh and i wouldn't like my ferret to be any close to a rodent. they know what to do even if they're not trained

  • @misskarolinawu not efficiently... that's my main point. An untrained ferret would give you more time to stop it from killing a rodent, than one that has killed many times before. I wouldn't test this purposely either. It's more of a backup in case it happens to get around another person's pet, I might have time to split them up.

  • @fringelife you're probably right about how fast the reaction would be for each-trained and not trained.i think it also depends on each ferret's personality.i'm sure mine wouldn't just play with a rodent. i've seen him looking for a victim when we went for a walk once... he could smell rats and mice.he was determined to find them.anyway.i do agree with you're point.but still don't see anythingwrong with feeding them raw meat

  • that is a good video,,,

    keep up

  • i have four ferrets and my mom says its not good to feed them dead or alive animals and ive always knew she was wrong lol but my ferrets have nvr eaten a dead animal exept for one of them (Brodii) ate my hamster (midnight) R.I.P Midnight

  • @freeagentsgirl619 GO BRODii !!!!!!!!!!

  • @freeagentsgirl619your mom was very wrong.and you were right

  • When I got my ferret, I was told by experts it was completely okay to feed them store bought mice ect. But if I didn't feed him the pellets, he wouldn't qualify for the warranty.

For some reason I believe experts over random people on youtube. :|

  • Not nice. But if you enjoy posting it..

  • Ferrets never started out as pets and eating processed food. Giving them a raw rabbit is actually really good for their diet. and it's like a treat to them.

  • I know it's good for them but I just hope in all these videos the rabbit was already dead!

  • Wow, I'm sorry you've had to put up with all these idiots crying about the rabbit. Thanks for feeding your ferrets properly- rabbit and other whole prey items truely is the best diet. You have lovely healthy looking ferrets.

  • yes i do get out alot even more than you ferretman37. and and dont you be mean to a 17 year old girl (me) cuz i know how feed a ferret. okkkkkkk. so dont you tell me how to feed my own ferret cuz i've had my ferret since it was born which was in 2006. and let me guess your an old man right i thougt so buh bye ok ok.

  • idiot eh.... so you don't get out much do you... & if all your ferrets get is dry food I pity them...they've never had the chance to taste the real stuff that they were designed to eat !

  • @webkinzlover1081 Rabbit is the best food for a ferret. Marshalls is actually a really poor quality food...I feel sorry for your ferret. He will probably develop Insulinoma due to that poor quality diet.

  • @webkinzlover1081 your very wrong marshall ferret food is very bad for ferrets and makes them stink.Meat is what any ferret should eat.Rabbit is by nature food for ferrets and other predators,my ferrets ate marshall ferret food and there coat was in horrible condition until i gave them meat and no marshall ferret food

  • Comment removed

  • @webkinzlover1081 are you a vegetarian by any chance ?! what do you think the ferret food is made from ? it's made from meat.but something needs to be killed first.if your not a vegetarian then i can't understand your point.

  • @webkinzlover1081 Fucking hell I feel pity for your ferrets. If you don't like the idea of giving ferrets prey then don't take ferrets as pet they need meat to stay healthy.

  • @webkinzlover1081 ferrets eat rabbits in the wild, that rabbit is nothing more than a natural part of that ferrets diet fyi is more healthy, equally it varies diet which is recommended for most pets because no one wants to eat the same shit through their entire life.

  • @lordhaych19 let me correct myself, i meant to say IF ferrets where wild, rabbits would be a natural part of the diet

  • You're the idiot here webkinzlover1081. Ferrets are natural predators. Wild ferrets, such as the black-footed ferrets (native to North America) prey on prairie dogs. Also, domesticated ferrets were brought here from Europe to hunt mice. This is what they're meant to eat.

  • @webkinzlover1081 You obviously know very little about these animal. Marshalls is full of grain and other fillers that are bad for ferrets. Ferrets digestive tracks are very sort and are made for high protein meat diets. My ferrets eat Evo but thats only because they won't eat a raw food diet, if I could get them to eat a raw food diet, I would.

  • i gave my ferrets a goose the other day

  • lovely!lol

  • can they eat rabbit fillets was just curiose

if i had one id preffer to just feed them fillets of beef or what ever meet they want

i dont like feeding thing with the fur still on it

    like half a rabbit :P

  • the fur and other body parts give it a well ballanced diet that just meat alone cant offer

  • good vid i like BOB432 comment i dont think the ferrets no how to use a knife and fork lol lol lol

  • Do you have to feed them raw meat like that?

  • No - you dont HAVE to ...but I do as its free food & keeps them keen to what I want them to hunt.....I`ve always fed my ferrets Raw food from kits(young) but they also eat egg & milk and also dry food(ferret food in the form of pellets - just vitamins & stuff)

  • @BOB4327 In today's world they have good dry foods available on the market like EVO, but a raw diet is very good for them if you can get them to eat it.

  • Lol... Look at that rabit. It havent been dead for a long time. The blood is all around it. :P

  • Where do you get the dead rabbits, and isnt it a bit rude?

  • Nah...Its not Rude !.... its about as natural as you`ll ever get... I catch them (see my other vids)

  • and people say feeding mice to snakes is wrong

  • Comment removed

  • Considering my ferret is a free-roaming house ferret, I don't think this would work for my family and I but, she did hunt down a field mouse that got in our house a few days ago (we're so proud, lol).

  • Good to know the natural instincts are still there eh!...suppose it`d be a little messy having them chowing down on flesh in the house...mine are not pets as such...just used to hunt !

  • feeding your ferrets rabbit you will all ways dig them out 100%

    DONT FEED WHAT THAY CATCH

  • Well...Sori but i gotta disagree - I`ve fed my ferretts BARF since they were kits & it`s only improved thier hunting skills.... the only one I get trouble with is my oldest Ob & thats cos he`s so big he blocks any escape route.... but each 2 thier own.

  • can you give ferrets like raw chicken? like a chicken breast or something? i would have a really hard time feeding them a rabbit like that...

  • Yeah....some people feed thier ferrets day old chicks....just make sure its defrosted properly if prev frozen...the only thing i`d be concerned about is the chicken bones - as they splinter it could cause digestion problems !..if your looking for a good alternative try liver (pig or lamb) - plenty of iron !

  • chicken bones do not splinter when they are raw...only cooked

  • thts cool they like ripped the rabbit up

  • god, they act like they haven't been fed in days...

  • @honeybbqchipsss lol I can only associate this with ferret-vite (which I only give every so often). Regardless how full they are at the moment they go ape-shit over it.

  • @honeybbqchipsss you should see my little devil going for prawns then :]

  • @honeybbqchipsss My ferrets act like this at EVERY feeding. They just really like their food.

  • not to be mean im getting a ferret is it a ok to feed them that?

  • Ferrets will feed on dry food - which can be purchased from your local pet store - but - the most natural way to feed them is on what they would eat in the wild....rabbits - whole - and all thats left is the skull & ears... one rabbit will last 2 ferrets a week.

  • yeah but after 2 weeks wouldnt that smell

  • Not 2 weeks.. if you have 2 ferrets in a hutch - 1 fully grown rabbit will keep them full for the week... you`d be suprised how quickly its eaten - but in the summer you do need to watch out for the meat going off & getting maggot infested.

  • ferret where do you buy the Rabbits my 3 ferrets would like to try a new dinner

  • I dont buy them....i use the ferrets to bolt the rabbits - see my other vids & you`ll see what i mean. :)

  • we cant stop some peeps from thier foul mouths... but thanks for ur apols..

  • interesting video, thanks.

  • What the fuck !!!

  • Hear This !!!!!!

At last someone who speaks sense !

    :)

  • dont baby ferrets nurse??

  • Yes...but these were way past that & weined off mother milk & found that meat was SOooo much better !

  • fragmat.. that is soooo otrue! but im against animal cruelty but im for the sport hunting.. and living food for pets like ferrets and piranas.. its just the way nature is

  • Sport hunting is cruelty orinallos, pest hunting is not. You're are a dick if you say "but im against animal cruelty but im for the sport hunting.." which you did. Dick. Don't sugar coat your opinions, tell it like it is. Go the ferret

    Peace out.

  • u kiss ur mother with that mouth do u...none of that here ta....u r blocked....muppet !

  • your fucking sick

  • and you are fucking uneducated! That is what ferrets do! Read a book!

  • yeah but not house ferrets, you are the one who is uneduacted. a pole cat or the black footed ferret are wild animals and eat prey. ferrets have been domesticated for many years and do not need live prey or killed prey. there are Meat formulas made for domesticated ferrets. its not like a snake or a type of lizard that rely on prey to eat. you are plain stupid. a cat hunts and will eat prey, should we buy feeder mice to feed to them no. because they will eat cat food. you read a book

  • You are a pacifist.

  • lol....you proved me right

  • if you want an animal thats strong why dont you get a bulldog?

  • because they look like your mother

  • what the fuck are you like 12 how about coming up with a more mature insult

  • It's true, that ferrets can eat all such things...but it's usually their more wild counterpart called the black footed ferrets. Domesticated ferrets don't usually eat meat, though--yes, it's also true that eating what they naturally would eat is probably better for them to become more immune to diseases. Ferrets' ANCESTORS were the polecats, not their more wild counterpart. Some people HERE need to do more research as well...

  • Of course they exist in the wild you fucking idiot they are called polecats you retard and if you think ferrets cant hunt and kill things you are a wanker my ferrets are ONLY fed on live food so go and put a boble hat on your fucking "household" ferret that probably is fed on that shitty dry food that fucks them up and makes them less immune to desease compared to ours over here that havent even heard of "adrenal deaisese"

  • aww poot rabbit :(

  • i hope you know that it's really bad for them to eat red meat...

  • Wat do they eat in the wild then !!!??? ....Juniper bushes !....muppet !

  • ferrets don't exist in the wild. they were bred from domesticated pets. they can't hunt. they can only stun it and eat it alive by themselves. they are not natural predators. I'm just glad this guy had the sense not to throw the rabbit in alive and make it suffer.

  • lol are your stupid!!! you must not no anything about ferret's!!! when we human's didn't found ferret's what did you think their ate?! ferret's eat chicken, rabbit, and all that shit! do a little resreach before you make a fool out of yourself.

  • dont be so fucking stupid, i feed my ferrets rats, mice, rabbits, chicks, squrrils been doing this for 8 years, raw meat and wild prey is better for the ferret you tit.

  • so true! finaly someone knows!!!

  • lol are your stupid!!! you must not no anything about ferret's!!! when we human's didn't found ferret's what did you think their ate?! ferret's eat chicken, rabbit, and all that shit! do a little resreach before you make a fool out of yourself.

  • ok the rabit wasnt a pet right?
