@Malzbrot4000 It's hard to translate the lyrics to give the same feel as the original. It was a song of Polish Legions in Italy, soldiers of general Dabrowski sang this song when they were fighting for then dismantled Poland, a song of hope in a seemingly hopeless fight. :D

The version we learned in class is different: "Poland still is ours forever, long as Poles remain-- Chains the foe bound on her, never shall the foe retain. On! On! Dabruski! From Italy's fair plain Lead us to our homeland! Lead us back again! (Repeat last 3 lines) The lyrics here are different. Was our teacher wrong?

Only really wrong thing is this name "Dabrowski'", not "Dabruski". This version of translate is better, but yours it's allright too.
