I love how you play the solo's and the bass lines at the same time. That's what I love the piano is that you can make a full, complete song yourself with one. Anyway, beautiful playing and a great cover of a fantastic artist.
To me, it's all about substance over form - this cover is inspired by miles davis' "so what" - I wouldn't want to, nor could I, replicate his version perfectly.
Nevertheless, any arrangements of it I have heard have stuck to the AABA... but then I suppose it is conditioning that makes it sound 'weird' as ive described it!
Fair enough. The truth is that after the first few bars, the song no longer resembles 'So What' very much anyway. The ABAB arrangement must have just seemed more natural for me to improvise over at the time.
i happen to agree with joeljjison it really sounds pretty strange ABAB. I play trumpe and I'm a complete amateur but I always stick to to te original modal changes.
Nice job...even if others think it too fast. I think you need to add a nice chorus unit or phaser to your Rhodes.

Why? It's a version of "So What", it's not meant to be a carbon copy.
