  • Love knowing the full story of this song - Dick Rosemont (The Guy in the Groove) posts a blog for santafe.com. Be sure to check it out.

  • It sure is a long time before the vocals come in,great posting, many thanks.

  • Cool I have this 78. What model is your Garrard? I've got a type A Laboratory unit and I love it.

  • never heard this version before,, i like it :)

  • 5 stars again, and I got the same verion again.

  • The Lion Sleeps Tonight!

Wimoweh is a modified version of an African song "Mbube". 5*****!

  • @sbd650

This is not genuine African music. It is the same tune as a song called "London Pride" by Noel Coward in 1920

  • @SeniorSuperstud Many thanks for the information. Cordial greetings :)

  • @SeniorSuperstud I've just listened to London Pride and it doesn't even superficially sound like Mbube, Wimoweh or The Lion Sleeps Tonight. I really don't know why you made that comment.

  • @SeniorSuperstud No that's not true, Londn Pride has nothing to do with it. Go to santafe.com and search for "Dick Rosemont" - his recent blog tells the origins of Wimoweh/Mbube

  • @SeniorSuperstud you are completely wrong. this song comes from the son "mbube" recorded by south african singer solomon linda in 1939.
