you could technically use the five string standard tuning (BEADG) but only the low string would match up. if it were me, tune it to match the guitars. so the guitar's lowest strings would be B F# B and E. then your bass' lowest string would become a low F#, or G# depending on where you preferred your tuning (perfect fifths or not). OR finally, you could tune the lowest string to B, then F#, then B, then E, then a higher string. depends on your taste really.
who cares if its not drop b, its still the same concept. its not hard

First of all its drop D and secondly its not even the right way to drop it to D FAIL!
AstroCreep999 11 months ago
@AstroCreep999 How is that not the right way to tune to drop D? It's just matching the D in octaves in stead of Matching the A on both strings.

If I had a guitar tuned down to drop B, would it be a good idea to have a bass tuned down to drop B or does a 5 string bass work just fine? Anyone?
Kardflow 1 year ago
@Kardflow doesn't really matter. both would work. Assuming the 5s Bass has 5th string that is tuned to B.

@chickenguard He says that too. must have been a typo.
Kardflow 1 year ago
I think that tuning is drop D because 5th fret on the A string has the same tone as the one on the D string...and tuning a whole step down is D....
